1.
Lets be honest, he has little to no chance of being Citys no1. They have just spent a massive amount in Ederson (30mil+), and he is only 24. You would expect he is their no1 for the next 5-7 years or so. I think we certainly should be having the discussion with City as to what their valuation is, and discuss sell on clauses or buy-back options. Staying at City could easily get him lost in the ''system''
Archant''s Michael Bailey has already stated that Norwich City will not be able to afford him. If you spent the Maddison money, yes, but I think this will more boil down to wages as I cannot see Gunn standing for a £7K a week wage cap.
2. If Gunn seriously harbours International ambitions, then I cannot see why playing for a Championship club will do him any favours next season. Man City have a dilemma with what to do with him. if they don''t play him, he''ll want to leave or at least go on loan to a EPL side. Norwich City has done him the world of good, but he doesn''t need another season here to further his development. He needs and is plenty good enough to play EPL football, so I''m sure Webber is already taking about who is between the sticks next season.
3. I don''t think anything other than a negligible sum will be spent. Remember we have owners that do not want EPL football and only want consolidation. Championship mediocrity is all we will be a best and with Farke not placing any pressure on the board, there is absolutely nothing to hope for until the Dictator and her Gambon impersonating husband are forced out.
4. As a public speaker, Tom Smith is awful. He is Bruce Forsyth (when alive) in reverse.
5. It''s a no brainer for Pritchard. He can either play for club that''s in the EPL, or stay at a club that doesn''t want to be there.
6. The point that is often forgotten is that we are Norwich City. If we were a bigger club and/or in a better position a) we might have to sell him and b) command more money for him. The fact is is that we need the cash. I don''t like it more than anyone else, but Maddison or Pritchard were going in this window and the other will go in the summer. Farke isn''t going to make waves as we all swim in Delia''s sea of mediocrity.
7.
Maybe we should wait until the end of the window to judge. This is only one potential transaction of perhaps many. And this is only Webber''s second window remember.
And potentially last.
8. Either Pritchard or Maddison were going to go this window and if we get around £12M, that would be about right. Obviously we all want him to stay, but there is absolutely no reason for him to. Huddersfield are ambitious, play good football, pay higher wages, play in the EPL against some of the best teams in the world. NCFC offers him ECL, less wages, no ambition, no EPL, tedious to reasonable football which isn''t going to change with majority shareholders that still think football revolves around Tom Finney and you can go out for 2s 6d and still have enough for the bus fare home. Naismith coming back in the side would be an absolute disaster. Not the player you want in this league. He''s about as hungry as a Polar Bear that''s eaten 100 seals in a week.
9. Chase was much maligned, some correctly, sometimes not, but at least he could be outvoted - and was on occasion when Lockwood voted against. But at least he wasn''t a dictator. If Delia doesn''t like it it doesn''t happen. She''s all for democracy until she disagrees.
10. Anyone who thinks the board is democratic are mistaken. It''s more of a democratic dictatorship with the infamous ''Delia Veto'', famously used to overrule the board at Xmas, who all wanted Neil sacked. For me Farke plays into the Delia''s plans perfectly. It will take a while at the very least for his (over) methodical to come to fruition, which will be too late for this season. The board will then use the excuse of no parachute payments to stay in The Championship and avoid the milk and honey of the PL that Delia is so uncomfortable with. Delia keeping us in this league in plain sight.
11. The club wasted LOTS of money (or use a less savoury expression) while in the PL and last year. The board were - and still are - not geared up for the PL. They lack basic fundamental principles and are almost paralysed with the fear of it. The club is being downsized. Now, that is not necessarily a bad thing. We tend to work better with less resources and the club certainly needed to be efficient. The downside is that should the club ever regain their PL status, it will be done on the cheap. Secondly, the club will then need to spend which they will not do, so we will be back to Square One. This maintains Delia''s comfort zone of NCFC being a upper tier Championship Club. The end.
12. This news is no big deal, neither player is consistently good enough to warrant a new contract. Neither have covered themselves in glory this season and should have no complaints.
13.
Komakino typically struggles on here.
Really? You''ve got faith in the board - I haven''t. It''s all smoke and mirrors.
14. Exactly. That''s why it won''t work in anything other than the short term.
15. Webber is far too ambitious when compared to The Stowmarket Two, so enjoy his honesty while you can. Two seasons then he''ll be gone. Footballing Littlest Hobo.
16. While I like what I''m hearing from Webber a lot, his ambitions are far greater than the majority shareholders, so I can him eventually leaving in frustration after a couple of seasons. Webber is using the club as a stepping stone to greater things and who can blame him? The best we can hope for is he leaves us in a better position than we currently are, which shouldn''t be too difficult.
17. We''ve been on the beach all season and that suits the board just fine. Maybe the Canary should be replaced by a bottle of Suncream and a Pint of San Miguel?
18. I''m probably in minority here, but I was amazed at the positive response from fans regarding yesterdays ''announcement''. An announcement that only a club like Norwich City could do. I tend to deal in actions rather than words and all that is happened is Steve Stone has got the M.D role, which was agreed internally some time ago. That''s it. Nothing else has happened - so far - and that is a worry. We have also had ''Values'' mentioned in the last few days by the likes of Mick Dennis and Ed Balls. Call it a kind of diversion. ''Values?'' This is the club that made ''redundancies'' just before Christmas, but claims it looks after its staff. Hypocrites. The club has stated that there are other roles to fill, which haven''t been filled. If you went to a PR agency, they would not of advised the way the club have handled this as being the right way. Typical Norwich City. Stone''s appointment is a sensible one and from what I gather is generally well respected, but the board itself needs a refresh and Delia and Michael should in the short term sell some of their shares so they own no more than 49%. The board is too cosy and this new structure will not change that. A Sporting Director can and will make recommendations for example, but will they be acted upon? This new structure - when it happens - isn''t fooling me. It is a distraction against the real problem - The board.
19. The statement is basically throwing the fans a bone. Stone''s M.D role was probably settled back in January and they intended to make a complete statement. For whatever reason that has not happened and I would agree that this gives the board even more control as there will be no CEO to upset Delia.
20. I did post some weeks ago that Stone was getting the M.D role, I''m just surprised that it has taken them this long to announce it.
21. I understand that Klose and Naismith are our two highest paid players, so it make sense to move Klose on as money will be in less supply next year and needs to be spent wisely (though that doesn''t necessarily mean it will!) I can see why some may think that he would be suited better to the EPL as I don''t think he can deal with the Championship, but he is arguably better suited to some of the lesser frenzied leagues of Continental Europe.
22. The board made a rod for their own back by stating that there would be announcement next week. By making no announcement, it hints that things haven''t quite gone to plan - otherwise they should of said they would make an announcement when everything was in place. I don''t like the D.o.F role allegedly being part of the set-up, as the majority of managers want to do things ''their way'' and the club are unnecessarily narrowing their options. Maybe a rabbit will be pulled out of the hat, but it would be a shame to miss out on a good manager because of a too rigid structure.
23.

The way this season has gone I feel more than justified. Norwich City unfortunately having never looked like going up this season. If the club were serious about Promotion, Neil would of gone last year. I maintain the club were not serious regarding this season or a very best extremely complacent. Also you are assuming that keeping the bulk of the squad was good thing? I didn''t at the time and the proof was in the pudding. Neil kept a squad that was increasingly playing against him and players with nothing to prove as Michael Bailey pointed out much earlier in the season was not the way to go. Neil''s bullying of players - especially as he had no track record as a player - did him no favours. With Bowkett and McNally gone, the board compromises of well meaning amateurs and I wouldn''t put anything past them. They are hopeless.
None of that verbiage is is the slightest relevant to what you kept posting, which was the "fact" that we budgeted right from the outset not to get promoted. When the opposite was true. We budgeted, perhaps to our longer-term financial discomfort, to try to get straight back up. Every fact supports that. I am not going to bother pointing this out again, and you are free to keep claiming you have "impeccable sources". The trouble is that when you keep relying on these "impeccable sources" that get basic stuff completely wrong it diminishes whatever limited amount of credibility you might have started with.
Agree to disagree. Move on.
24.
Weren''t people saying that he played hard ball with agents which prevented some of our intended signings to fall through or not even get past the initial enquiry phase? You can''t deny that he (and Bowkett) kept a tight hand on the tiller when we were in financial trouble. The question is, how much credit he deserves for combining that with 3 seasons out of 5 in the Prem under Lambert and Hughton?
I had heard that too Woodman. McNally (allegedly) use to stick to one agent and some of Neil''s targets were sabotaged. For me, the board could stand losing Bowkett, but not Bowkett and McNally. Bowkett in particular sorted the financial side out when the club was in a very precarious state and his role should not be underestimated. McNally burnt himself out, but when you are the only professional in a board amongst amateurs, there is only so much you can do before it gets too much. My worry since then has been the majority shareholders are too comfortable and apart Moxey''s brief rein as CEO - something Delia apologised to staff for earlier this year - who is going to be critical of the board?
25.
May have had some personal problems which a predilection to Twitter didn''t help but it was a mistake to let him go IMO.
My understanding is that Delia & Michael were not exactly upset to see him go.
