1. After the World Cup I think the mood amongst English fans is that no one really expects us to win the Euros. Which possibly alleviates some pressure off the national side but then again doesn''t really boost the confidence.
2. Hucks usually tells it as it is in his reports/twitter/media. I hope this book is more of the same! And crammed with pics!
3. Hucks must get some really funny messages to write in these books.....gotta come up with something witty now....!
4.
Fancy making one for PES 2012, I''m more of a Pro Evo fan if I''m honest ;)
Good to see a small contingency of Pro Evo fans on here....i''m up for a FIFA v PES debate another day but looking forward to the release of 2012 in 2 weeks.
5. Thank you Beauseant, football is so one dimensional to some people and yes we are all entitled to our opinions, but its not as black and white as some people make out.
6. It''s a day out, an attraction for tourists. Everyone goes to Old Trafford, buys a shirt, watches the game clicking away at their cameras, and goes home. They''re so used to winning that anything other than goals will not be greeted.
7. I can''t believe people saying Morison had a bad game were watching the same match as me. Just because he didn''t chase every lost cause doesn''t mean he has little passion, it means he is saving his energy. Hoolahan often pulls up before chasing a lost cause, but you wouldn''t question his desire. The work he did as a lone striker, the chances he carved out for himself, even Fergie praised it after the game. And in no way whatsoever is Holty quicker than Morison!
8. Perhaps true, but would Holt have controlled the high ball, turned and lost Evans, and sped away from the onrushing defenders?
9. Some people on here haven''t got a clue! Morison has been part of a winning side for the last two matches. He scored last match. He won a LOT of balls in the air against Sunderland and won his fair share today. He is quicker than Holt, more agile than Holt, and arguably better at winning balls in the air than Holt. Holty has a good goalscoring instinct, and tends to make early decisions, which is something we need to improve on. Morison has done nothing wrong to suggest he should be dropped, he was brought into the side as Holt looked sluggish against West Brom and needed a rest. Now that doesnt mean Holt is banished to 4th choice striker. Jackson was brought on as he has pace and we were finding gaps in the Man Utd defence. We weren''t pumping high balls into the box in the last 15 mins. C Martin was brought on late for Hooly to play behind the strikers, a position Holty doesn''t play. Had Morison come off, I''m confident Holty would have replaced him. Just because Holty has done unbelievably well for us over the past two seasons, that doesn''t mean he has to be chosen over Morison for sentimental value.
10. ''the lads deserve all the credit they get'' ''the fans have been brilliant for us since day one'' ''listen, the lads have been brilliant'' ''we''ve earnt the right to be here'' ''we will go out and try our best and see what happens'' ''the lads haven''t let me down, they really haven''t I''m having all of the above!
11. Watched it back and it was totally innocuous how the injury occurred. So unlucky, but he will be back and stronger. I''ve seen enough to be convinced he will be a big asset for us.
12. Didn''t realise how important hs save from Bendtner was after Johnson fluffed his clearance, until I watched it back on Sky. Top top save!
13.
Just put £100 0n 2-1 and £5 on holt for 1st goal, he is sure to start.
He much have you won??!
14. A colleague at work said he heard on the radio that Sunderland have never won a Monday night match.....
15. Just for a laugh... Which minute do you think we will concede a penalty (if/when we do) ??! I''m going for a late one...78 mins!
16. 1-1 for me, tight affair. Don''t forget the sky curse!
17. Has anyone here in this debate refereed, or even been linesman, in a match before? I honestly don''t think, until you have done, that you can understand how difficult a job it is. You are expected to see everything that happens all over the pitch, you''ve got players, management and fans shouting at you calling you an idiot when you make a decision against their favour. You get one chance to see the incident, in real time, and you get a mere couple of seconds to make a decision. Is there any other profession like it? The number of times I''ve watched a game on Sky, saw an incident and thought ''what is the ref doing saying that''s a foul'', then seen a replay and agreed with the ref. They will still get the abuse from people 50 yards away in the terraces who can''t see the man 5 rows in front of them but saw a pull of the shirt at the other end of the pitch! It''s a pantomime!
18. He made one bad decision against us, and people are clinging onto that saying he is the worst ref in the prem!
19. Sounds awesome Hucks, I see there are two front covers, I presume we can choose our front cover or have you written this in two parts? It''ll be great to hear your stories, you''ve been honest and haven''t shied away from telling it how it is before which for fans is all we ask, this will be flying off the shelf for Christmas I suspect!
20. Am I the only person who thinks he and Juan Mata are twins?!
21.
On a side note, does Lambert live in Norwich? I heard he lived in a hotel for a while after being appointed our manager.
He was at Dunston Hall for a while but I believe he now has a more permanent spot in the city.
22. Let''s analyse the 5 penalties... 1 v Wigan. De Laet loses the ball, tracks Di Santo back and they stumble under pressure in the box. Contact was minimal but had it been outside the box, it would have been a foul, so it was a pen. 2 v Stoke. Again minimal contact, Barnett got wrong side of Walters and under minimal contact he went down. Outside the box so it shouldn''t have been a penalty, but it had to be a red as Barnett was last man. 3 v Chelsea. Ruddy clips Ramires heels. Ramires was on his way down and looking for it, but Ruddy did make contact and it was a pen. Red card was dubious, however I think ot was correct. 4 v West Brom. Pressure from behind by Morison, Steven Reid falls over. Very very minimal contact and the ref bought it. For me, not a penalty. However it is something Holt does so we shouldn''t be blaming Reid for that one. 5 v Bolton. Barnett caught the player and not the ball, probably the clearest of the lot. So out of 5 pens, one was a definite NO, one was highly debatable, two were soft but silly defending prior cost us, and one was soft but definite. In all cases, our defending was naive. These strikers are going down like conkers and were still be drawn into the challenges. Yes we have to make the challenges when necessary, but be smart about it!
