1.

I said, by the law of averages...... Meaning (assuming I have to spell this out!) that you are more likely going to have to call on your 5th choice centre back than your 14th choice midfielder.
And why the hell is he a 14th choice midfielder he''s proven himself he''s joint top scorer, unless you count sicknote, which I don''t.
you were certainly keeping a tally yesterday ,Steady On...............in case you''ve lost count, it currently now stands at Jackson 1, Vaughan 2
 2.
I got to be honest I don''t understand the stick Chris Martin gets for being our 5th choice striker. The guy is a talented if not outstanding striker. He was prolific in league 1, didn''t have the greatest season in the Championship but then had decent 1 in 4 scoring rate in a struggling Palace side last year. Do I think he is going to set the Premiership on fire? No. But then how many teams of our level have outstanding quality 5th choice strikers? Martin will probably see little game time depending on injuries because he is cover. Vaughan could have potentially been our 3rd or even 2nd choice striker imo but it seems Hughton didn''t see him as such and the guy didn''t want limited opportunities here as a backup now hes fit from what''s been reported. Slagging off Martin and saying you would much rather have Vaughan is all very well but it seems for one reason or another Vaughan was either not happy at being back up or Hughton thought as he was only backup he may as well get his wages paid by someone else. The Vaughan debate will I''m sure rumble on but I don''t think saying Martin took his place in the squad is a realistic view of what appears to have happened.
if anyones taking up a place in the squad, then surely its Lappin?, if we''re talking players who will get limited oppoutunities this season, then he''s probably our 14th choice midfielder ?!?!?!?
 3. as previously mentioned on this thread, Vaughan himself was quoted as saying that he was told he wouldnt get many opportunties under Hughton this season, which begs two questions?.....a)why did he figure prominently so much in the early pre season matches ?(where he looked our best striker, only to be shipped out?)......and b) who exactly would he be missing out on these opportunities to?, Jackson ? a player who Vaughan was on the bench ahead of in the first game of the season at Fulham?, Morison?, a player who can''t play up front with Holt, when there were encouraging signs that Vaughan could?, Martin?, who hasnt even been in a matchday squad this season?.....or was the masterplan all along to rush through a midnight transfer deadline day signing of a Spurs academy player?.    There are questions that have so far been unsatisfactorily answered by Hughton surrounding this .
 4. oh the irony if he scores the goals that gets Huddersfield promoted this season ,whilst we pass them in the other direction!?.............I''m sure we''re getting something out of this arrangement...I can''t think exactly just what it is at the moment?

 7.
Holt had a good season last year but many do and then never repeat it , he is ageing , overweight and no more wants to be at this club than flying , in fact after all summer mouthing off about how he wants out its a wonder he has not been labelled a binner yet . As for our strikers , they would be nothing special at Championship level  , there are better in that league now , Rhodes , Nugent  , Maynard  to name just three . We were powder puff again today , one Surman shot all that troubled their keeper , the next 4 games look certain defeats and by then we will be so deep in the sh1t we will never get out .
careful, you''ll be accused of being "negative" too!

 15.

No. I want everyone sacked. Including the kit man.
I should sack you for saying that.
We can only keep saying "we look more solid" for so long without scoring goals or winning games....we wont get far buy losing 1-0 or drawing 0-0 every game. Somewhere along the line we will need to be more adventuous in games , whether that be , 2 out and out wingers, 2 strikers, allowing full backs more of a liscense to overlap or just making more positives subs earlier in games.
 16. it angers me that we''re talking about a new striker in Jan when most of us could see (apart from the "we were the 7th highest scorers in the premier league" brigade), that we blatantly needed one this summer. The worst bit is is that much of this is self-inflected by Hughton when he allowed Vaughan to leave without any/adequate replacement. He had all pre season to find this out and after shipping out the one striker who looked sharp in pre-season then saw us draw blanks in our final 3 games before the season started.  If we get relegated this season, it will haved happened in no small part at 11.00 clock on August 31st.....and Houghton will have to shoulder much of the blame in compiling such an unbalanced ,midfielder heavy, squad
 17. Chopra''s obviously a bit miffed that he''s not getting many win bonuses nowadays to blow on the roulette wheel ?
 18. special mention for that dirty little b*stard Taricco, when Gus Poyets''s name was being touted as a possible new manager in the summer the thought of him bringing that little sh*te as his assisstant turned my stomach.
 19.
Ironic that the two most sensible posts we''ve had on here recently have been from a binner and this bloke.
Sensible?, didn''t he say he thought Daryl Sutch was a "fine" player ?!?!?!
 20. Myself?, season 1995/96 after we''d just been relegated from the Premier Laegue played at Molineux fairly early in the season in midweek and beat them 2-0, and to compound matters Steve Bull was sent off in the last minute, having not been there before at the time and not too familiar with either their repuation or the geography around the ground took a cowardly punch to the jaw from behind from one of their neandrathals after the match.....had I have retaliated, I might not be typing this now?. Think I''m right in saying we''ve never beaten them there since and even when we lost the playoff semi 2nd leg but still went through had a few more safety in numbers that night in 6000 as oppose to the usual 1500 ish? Compounded of course a few years later by the Muscat incident.
 21. just seen on Sky sports news that neither Cisse,Ba,Ben Arfa or Cabaye are even travelling to Madeira...suppose that pretty much nulifies any "advantage"??
 22.

''Holt will come good and score 12+ this season, Jackson, Morison & Kane will each get between 6-10 and the rest will come from our midfield.'' Well, what a bold statement that is! Based on?.....the fact that Jackson, Morison and Kane have collectively scored THREE Premiership goals since the beginning of February??? I would hazard a guess that CMS would have reached that total within a month or two of the season starting....
You claim that someone else has made a bold statement, and then follow up right away with one of your own! As for ''based on'', I''d probably agree with Moro and Jackson based on prior form at this level as Jackson was on a 5.5 game to goal ratio last season which would equal approx 7 goals if he played each game, and Moro was on a 3.8 ratio which would be approx 10 goals (he got 9 last season to be fair). Holt could be difficult to call this year, but again I don''t see why double figures and possibly 12 or more is a crazy suggestion. Kane is the real unknown quantity, but if he could maintain a similar scoring ratio to what he managed last year in the CCC, then 6 or more goals isn''t an unreasonable suggestion. I don''t get how you can claim CMS would be that impressive at this level however, as in his last 2 seasons in the CCC he couldn''t manage above 10 league goals a season (and that was playing pretty much every game), as for not scoring goals but defending from the front - WTF??? Hughton has clearly improved our defence and we''re much better in that area, what we need is a goalscorer not a defensive striker! We have no idea if CMS would have worked or not, but I agree with the boards choice to not spend 4 or so million gambling to find out if a journeyman lower league striker would be the answer!
You may agree with the decsison not to "gamble" £4m on CMS but the question is , are you happy with what we have got instead and convinced that between them they will score the goals?. Hughton must have identified him as someone he thought could help us to have made a bid for him in the first place and I just wonder how much more it would have taken to get him here?.....as I mentioned earlier ,could the money we spent on a backup keeper or even the £1m on another midfielder i.e Butterfield ,have been the difference in getting him here or not?
 23. Martin isn''t good enough for the championship, presumably Hughton knows this too otherwise he''d have given him a chance ahead of Kane, Morison struggles to play up front with Holt ,so it''s a case of one or the other and surely you can''t think that CMS is more of a gamble than asking a 19 year old Spurs academy player to score the goals we need?.   The justification in paying that amount for CMS is the small matter of avoiding relegation.
 24.
Rhodes may well have been priced out of our range, but I''m not convinced Ince or CMS (6 goals apiece already) were out of Norwich''s price bracket. The longer Norwich go with their forwards firing blanks, the worse it will be watching Blackburn, Blackpool and Brighton, leading the Championship race. There may be no need to panic yet, but the pattern of the season is usually set after ten or so games, and the fixtures that take Norwich to that point look far from favourable.
I agree ,this is the far more pertinent question, at £8m we and I''d imagine serveral other parties were always out of the running for Rhodes but is CMS was really someone that we wanted , we should have made it happen, instead of buying a keeper for £500k that we dont really need , and overloading our midfield with players , at leat two of which probably won''t even be in a matchday squad. I wonder if those people of turned their noses up at the mention of CMS in the last week of August would still be if they realised that we would be relying on Jackson (who wasnt even on the bench vs Fulham) to score goals for us between then and January?
 25. If we really are going into each Premiership season with the attitude of just being "happy to be here" then frankly we deserve to be relegated. This is Stoke''s 4th (?) season in the Premiership, a club certainly no bigger than us and Wigan Athletic''s 8th consecutive season.
