1.
If it''s anything like poorman road in 2011 there''ll be plenty of City fans in the rest of the ground as well.   I should imagine they''ve had to allocate whole stands rather than divide parts of stands equal to our FA Cup allocation   It should be a cracking atmosphere .... terraces, compact little ground, just down the road from us,magic of the cup   A true taste of the cup     ps perhaps (as in days of yore) they will let a few fans in fancy dress walk round the touchline before the game http://images.google.com/search?num=10&hl=en&site=&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1093&bih=479&q=norwich+city+59+cup+run&oq=norwich+city+59+cup+run&gs_l=img.12...1516.17731.0.19659.25.12.0.13.4.0.342.1407.8j3j0j1.12.0...0.0...1ac.1.spFKiV1HuWw#hl=en&tbo=d&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=norwich+city+fans+1959+&oq=norwich+city+fans+1959+&gs_l=img.12...75408.78605.2.80805.3.3.0.0.0.0.186.325.2j1.3.0...0.0...1c.1.kagsYVNwqzo&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=75f6187c29028072&bpcl=39580677&biw=1093&bih=479   (4th pic)
I shall certainly be taking advantage of a seldom change to stand on a terrace once again.........shades here of Wycombe 93/94...."oh ,Mike Walker''s a ****** " etc etc
2. ....thats quite an allocation for a ground that holds 15000?!?. are they giving us more than they need to because they know they wont sell out and we will??
3. wasn''t our first ever live televised match vs West Ham in ''88/89 (a 2-1 win?) also on a Sunday?!?!?!?!?!?
4. I can''t quite work out yet whether we have a good keeper here or an outfield player that''s had to go in goal?? I too worry at his lack of height in commanding an area and coming out to claim high balls but I think this is countered by his athleticism and shot shopping........one things for sure,he''s definately a step up as a back up keeper than Simon Tracey!!
5. Hughton has tonight eluded to the possibility of emergency cover?.....firstly would the FA Premier league allow us to do that?, firstly as we already have a 25 man squad and secondly they may view that in Bunn we already havea senior GK on the books. However if they do, which Premier league clubs have an abundance of keepers to let out, and which are high enough up the table to loan one out to a relegation rival? Tottenham tick both boxes at the moment ,with 4 gks on the books and Hughton''s connections ,i wonder if there maybe a move for Cudicini??
6.
1-0 2007/08 Ched Evans, i think.
This match, under Glenn Roeder ,during the 14 match unbeaten run in his first season....not as long ago as some may think?....a midweek game too
7. they weren''t booing Dave Sexton''s minute silence at all, they were still booing Benitez. What do you expect them do to ,cheer a manager that has bad-mouthed their set of fans in the past? who are we or anyone else to tell Chelsea fans how to react over a managerial appointment at THEIR club???
8.
Unfortunately our record against the Saints at their place is poor. I''ll be very happy with a point on Wednesday.
I swear I saw us win a midweek game at St.Mary''s under Glenn Roeder!!!, so anything is possible. but in all seriousness today''s result for them shows that this will be far from easy.......will we engage the Madejski "stink the place out" mode and preserve a point?
9. wonder what that piece of slime Ian Ross will make of this ?!?
10.

with their goal difference, the hidings they''ve had and just how poor theyve been in general, they should by rights be cut adrift at the bottom by now However ,no matter how bad they are ,not only are they still not bottom I have the feeling that there will ultimately turn out to be 3 worse sides than them. It really does make you wonder quite how bad we must have been under Roeder/Gunn to have have actually managed to have got relegated out of that division?!
What a ridiculous post   How does the goal difference or the number of goals they have conceded in a game make any difference, bar one point ?  Likewise it is still early day''s in the sense that one point can make all the difference ie they WOULD be bottom were they to have one less point.   It matters little how bad we were, or were not (we were 17th this time in 2008) it is about how far our impoverished neighbours have fallen, and are still falling. Even then our goal difference was only  -6, not a shocking -25.   However, the huge goal difference is merely one consequence of having a club that is in a shambles - another being having a squad made up of players that are either loanees or out of contract next June.   Whether "there will ultimately turn out to be 3 worse sides than them" matters nothing. No more than if a condemned man is allowed to take a breather halfway up the steps of the gallows. In the meantime their ''dead binman walking'' act is providing a fair bit of amusement for those this side of the border ....... and I''ve no doubt it will continue to provide even more amusement as they slide further and further down the plughole   RIPswich
so glad it''s ridiculousness didnt prevent you from replying

12. For the younger posters who weren''t around at the time, this is what it used to be like during the "golden era" of our club between 86-93, where we would regularly beat Man Utd ,cup quarter finals were the norm and Ipswich were in the 2nd division........I''ve been transported back to 89 and I''m a teenager once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. i think is youre playing with two strikers ,you need wingers who can beat a full back and get crosses in from the byline, which would probably be Bennett. However if you''re playing a lone striker as we currently are then you need widemen who can cut inside and chip in with goals, which is possibly more suited to Snodgrass. A third alternative would be to play Bennett and Sondgrass on the left?!?....did he ever play there at Leeds?
14. lay the blame with whoever constructed the ground in the 30''s....  crowd athsetics apart ,from a playing point of view, the sun being behind one goal for most of the year doesnt help goalkeepers?!?, even moresore back then when there was no roof at all at the river end.
15. i suppose the only difference was that we saw today would have happened last season had Barnett not been wrongfully sent off......Pulis conveniently forgets that travesty!!
16. £30...this is a disgrace, no way I''m paying that much, you''ve got to be joking............................£25 you say?...oh go on then?!?!?!?.....is that how this works? only some of us will be able to lay claim to the fact that we were there for every round en route to winning the final !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17. Attendance 12,304 ?!?!?!?!?!?......just 4 years after winning the European Cup! Villa fans have always been fickle.......always been a "big" club ,my ar$e.
18. In my time I can recall us being involved in 5 of these (in the space of 12 seasons) and then nothing for the past 16?...with a success rate of W 1 L 4. 1983/4 - A.Villa (h) L 0-2  , I vaguely remember playing them at home twice in the space of a week, winning in the league on the Sat, and then losing in the cup a few days later 1984/5 - Grimsby (a) W 1-0, John Deehan, didn''t go to this one, which paved the way for the Ipswich semi-finals, apparantly crowd trouble afterwards?? 1991/2 - Spurs (a) L 1-2, very similar to last night, only in reverse. Remember Fleck putting us 1-0 up and then Walsh and Lineker scoring twice in the last 5 minutes...heartbroken 1994/5 - Bolton (a) L 0-1, particularly galling defeat this one as we were a Premiership team and Bolton ,division one (or whatever it was called then). Admist the falling out between John Deehan and Mark Robins ,we went up there with Newman and Sheron up front and wouldnt have scored had we still been playing now!...memerorable for the fact that our old friend Mr Chase layed on flights from Norwich to Manchester airport. 1995/6 - Birmingham (h) 1-1, replay (a) 1-2, another night of dissappointment due to the fact the Birmingham went down to 10 men and we still managed to lose, most notable for "that" Jan Molby screamer into the top corner from 35 yards?!? too young for the various 70''s League Cup runs, what are your memories??
19. bugger, really thought it was going to be Bradford at home there....still cant complain at that. Now ,just hope that Hughton plays his 1st team?........he will, won''t he ??!??
20.
There''s a very good chance we could get a UEFA cup spot via this cup now. Considering the fact that Chelsea and Arsenal are both likely to qualify for Europe this season, one of the semi finalists could well get a spot - that is how it works isn''t it? Great result tonight, might not be making much money with a half empty stadium this round, but i expect it to be packed out for the Villa game, although i imagine the yorkshire clubs will get the sky money.
no, you have to win this cup to qualify for Europe
21. In hindsight we should''ve just started with Jackson up front with Morison. It would have caused Spurs far more problems throughout the whole game and I''m not sure that Butterfield quite understood his role??
22.

What a load of cry babies modern players are.   They give it out  - swearing at the refs -  pressurising the refs - trying  to con the refs - and when that doesn''t work they resort to telling tales - they should be ashamed.
and if the allegations are true?
To call someone a t*****r - if that what he did - is that acceptable?   Refs are called that all the time - and worse.   I  wouldn''t blame him if he called the players anything that they call him.   If he put a descriptive word in front of it - that is not racist imo.    If I call my neighbour a "thick northern b*****d" its  a descriptive insult.    Its not racist.   An insult, but not racist.    Same if I put  Scottish, Welsh, or  Eskimo in front of it.  Insulting yes, racist , no (imo).  If I put a swear word in front the word t****r  - like the f word, that would be worse in my eyes.   Doubling the insult.     Putting a nationality is partially to do with identification - not racism.     That''s only my opinion and will be shouted down, I expect,  but there are a lot more derogatory things that can be said of a more racist nature than what I understand is alleged to have been said.  The crime, if there is one is just "innapropriate language for a referee to use" - and that would be a very debatable crime, given what referees have to put up with from players - and fans.   I hope I''ve said nothing to get this post deleted, its said in good faith - it may be considered old fashioned - but these days people imo are far too sensitive about things that are said in the heat of the moment.   Its like "Big Brother" (the book - not the tv series).   You can''t say anything at all without it being blown up, taken out of context and dissected until all common sense is lost.
I think Chelsea are alleging that Clattenburg used rather more serious language than that?!?!?......at least I assume they are for the Met. Police to be involved?

24. Richie Wellens comments in the Sun today make for amusing reading. We''ve been comparing their strategy of short term loans with that of ours during the Roeder/Gunn relegation season suggesting that loan players don''t care about the club however here''s Wellens a loan player himself calling out Ipswich''s "permanent" players as the ones who don''t care !!!!!!!. Their situation seems even worse than we may have thought !!
25. always despised this self obsessed, preening, corrupt referee....looks like he may have fallen on his sword here.....
