  1. As Daniel Farke found out.. not beating Leeds at home is a sackable offence
  2. Semi finals were, finals appear to have just been decided by a secondary draw from a hat
  3. Madness that the home advantage in the playoff finals is decided purely by who gets drawn out of a hat. Far too big of an advantage to have been decided at random. Should have been 2-legged
  4. With the ball now being central its almost as if the bird is leaning too far to the right hand side to fill the crest. It looks more and more blatantly obvious and wrong everytime I look at it.
  5. This is something we will be lumbered with for potentially decades to come and all for a worse version of the crest we currently have. The definition of faux outrage is people being up in arms over a bloody sponsor on a shirt which the club would have only had for 1 year. The cancellation of which cost the club millions
  6. If theyd have simplified it along the lines of Bristol City's current badge (in yellow and green) you could understand it ...but this is just a worse version of the current one
  7. Dreadful...just a worse version of the current one Who was consulted?...the same half dozen or so fans who are consulted on everything??
  8. Credit to Smith for the h/t ...but credit also to Hassenhutl who gave a second half masterclass in how to lose a game ..played 3 different formations in the 2nd half, each progressively worse and each making them less of a goal threat, culminating in them bringing on an extra centre back and going 5 at the back...AGAINST US!! ...extrordinary display of management. Smith almost just had to stand by and watch Southampton self destruct
  9. Wonder if he'd like to re-sign Sargent in January...
  10. I think lt might be an affectionate name Southampton call themselves , as Portsmouth refer to them as it??
  11. Given he'll have only had 48 hrs with the squad after players arecback from int. duty , the easiest thing for him to do will be to go with a winning side from brentford, which is what i think he will do His 2nd team selection after a full week of training will be more interesting, particularly if it hasnt gone well vs Southampton
  12. If we field a team of reserves who havent played much football in months come January...and they put out their first team...at a full portman road, then yes, I wouldnt be overly confident
  13. He was ridiculously being played in the holding defensive midfield position in the early part of the season being asked to do a job alien to him. Since we bought Normann in , I dont think Farke then played Gilmour alongside him at all in a more free advanced pisition, which was scandalous
  14. I think its fairly obvious and established what our strongest XI is...I cant think that Smith would stray too far from it. If Farke played it he might still be in the job... Krul Aarons Hanley Kabak Williams Gilmour Normann Lees-Melou Rashica Pukki Cantwell
  15. Have to be happy with this If you'd have said a couple of weeks ago that another premier lge manager would now be managing us , we'd have thought it would be unlikely as we would assume that we'd be regarded as a lost cause I'd lowered my sights to a previously out of work manager , or someone like Mark Robins...and I was even doubting that we could attract him from Coventy given our respective positions
  16. We can give him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to a personality clash with Farke ...but no excuses as of today. I would hope he's at the training ground this morning with his head down with the new coaches and looking to impress them. If another coach can't get him playing then we have to assume he wants away and should look to sell
  17. I forsaw that decisions like Farke's insistence of playing McLean ahead of Gilmour would utimately cost him his job...and so it proved In the early games pre-Normann , he ridiculously played Gulmour as the deep defensive midfielder...just as ridiculous is that since signing Normann, Farke then never released Gilmour further forward where he was free to link midfield to attack. Criminal If Smith comes in and doesnt ultilise that talent, he'll be equally as culpable. Cantwell is a slightly different matter. You'd have to question where his head and heart is at the moment. If he doesnt want to play for/train for a new manager, then he perhaps just doesnt want to be here and it might be time to just cut our losses and cash in ...my feeling however is that he will definitely be in the squad for Saturday
  18. Maybe ...just maybe the unexpected avaialability of Smith put him to the top of the list, over and above whoever it was we had in mind when we decided to sack Farke?? I'd hope our board would change their minds and act accordingly if a better candidate suddenly became available
  19. If someone 'really' wanted to be here, he'd be here on Monday morning...not in about 9 games time on Jan 1st I dare say Steven Gerrard would have liked to have won another title at Rangers too but he was straight out of the door
  20. Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare is a safe enough pair of hands Smith could then do a lot worse than get his ex Sheff Weds team mate Grant Holt onto the coaching team for a bit of inside knowlege. 'If' he comes , he obviously wants the job and thats a big plus where others might possibly think we're a lost cause Another bonus is that he's straight back on the horse, without being out of the game for any length of time....he could have easily wanted to take a bit of time out All of the preperation and dossiers and work he would have on premier league opposition can be immediately transferred ...he'll be motivated, he'll want to show Villa they were wrong Its maybe not what we were expecting but it could have been a lot worse than this.
  21. Maybe there genuinely wasnt a replacement. Maybe Webber just caught wind that the training ground and changing room had just become so fractured that he simply had to act by removing Farke and then acting upon appointing a new manager afterwards
  22. We were going down with Farke...we dont yet know what Smith might bring to the table
  23. Whatever our view is of Smith, we have to admire his desire to get straight back on the horse if he takes it...he obviously wants to work when it would be easy for him to take a bit of time out. He'll at least be fully up to speed with opposition players, tactics etc etc in this league
