Yes it is boring, as is every petty fogging minor thing that triggers the woke brigade on multiple subjects.

What he said was wrong, it was mistaken, it was badly judged - and that should be all that is said about it imo.

I'm surprised that anyone of any stature wants to say  anything about these kinds of subjects anymore, because it is a minefield of what you can say and what you can't say for fear of offending those who are just waiting for the slightest slip of the tongue to pounce and cry Racist! Sexist! or whatever "ist" it is that triggers them.

Webber fell into the trap by daring to make a particular point, he did it badly - wrongly even - but underlying that, was a positive message about footballers, which most people seem to have ignored, in favour of shouting him down.

Webber did not "fall into a trap", what on earth are you on about.

Basically he opened his mouth and proved what a weapons grade bell end he is, it really is as simple as that........

Just because someone mentions black players, it doesn't make what they say racist.

He was poor with his choice of words, shouldn't have mentioned individuals, but that is all.

It's getting to the point where people can't use the word "black" anymore, because the word itself is seen as racist, which is ridiculous.

He was wrong to profile only black lads as there are plenty of examples of white lads born on the "wrong side of the tracks".

He was wrong to mention the individuals names without their permission.

He was wrong to suggest the individuals he named were saved from a life of crime by football when clearly that was not the case.

He was wrong to besmirch the families of the individuals he named.

Everything about that interview was plain wrong, there are absolutely no positives to be found...........

Yep, Southgate isn't "sexy" but he's likely one of the most successful England managers in most peoples supporting lifetimes.

I saw this shared on Twitter, from an Ipswich fan out of everyone I believe. Since 1975 or something:

    Don Revie - Never Qualified
Ron Greenwood - 1x Group Stage, 1x 2nd round, 1x failed to qualify
Bobby Robson - 1x failed to qualify, 1x Quarter final, 1x Group stage, 1x semi-final
Graham Taylor - 1x group stage, 1x failed to qualify
Terry Venables - 1x Semi Final
    Glenn Hoddle - 1x 2nd Round
Kevin Keegan - 1x Group stage
    Sven Goran-Eriksson - 3x quarter finals
    Steve McClaren - Never qualified
    Fabio Capello - 1x 2nd round
    Roy Hodgson - 1x quarter final, 1x group stage, 1x 2nd round

Awful all round, bar a couple of moments, Sir Bobby, Terry Venables

    Then, finally,

Gareth Southgate - 1x Semi final, 1x Final, 1x Quarter Final

Within all that awfulness I would like to highlight Spain 1982 as being not that bad. Played 5, won three, drew 2 lost 0

It was the year there were two group stages, in the second group stage we had West Germany and Spain and we drew both games 0-0.

I am not saying we would have won the World Cup that year but we had a couple of injuries (Coppell and Keegan) and if memory serves me (which I would not rely on), we came close to beating Spain.

Despite all of the above I agree that Southgate gets unfair criticism...........

Unbelievable. Reported for racist comments? His intention was clearly to reflect the problems young black people have in society - a problem the BBC and other news groups have reported on, multiple times. He was clumsy with what he said, but to me he was highlighting social problems and how these players might have avoided them by being involved in football. That is a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like him and think he is egotistical and lacking in humility, but in this case, there is nothing here to get excited about in so far as reporting him.  I think it's ridiculous - he might need to apologise and explain himself a bit more  what he was trying to say, but to villify him nationally is just over the top.

*Cough*, young people have problems in society, no need to profile just one section of those young people.

I am not saying he is a racist but there was no need to single out young black men and there was absolutely no need to name people individually if you are trying to make a general point, particularly if you have not sought permission from those individuals, we now have two ex NCFC players and at least one current NCFC player who are unhappy with his comments.............

So what is the connection between Ashley Barnes and Hillsin? The article doesn't say. Is Barnes a part-owner of the horse?

I really do not know, he has been a registered racehorse owner in the past so the assumption I have made from all of this is that he had some involvement with the horse otherwise he would not be under investigation..

As Midlands Canary has posted the race looks like it was thrown, the jockey that day has previous and had been banned earlier in the season for "not trying".

I am not making any judgement on Ashley Barnes or his father in law, if they were part owners of the horse it does not necessarily follow that they knew anything or had anything to do with instructing the jockey, we will have to wait to see what the results of the BHA investigation are..........

Interesting. A little more information here:

    https://www.britishhorseracing.com/disqualified-excluded-persons/

It doesn't specify what the investigation was about, but presumably this John Higgins from Devon (probably not the snooker player) was involved as well.

The John Higgins mentioned is Ashley's father in law.  This Racing Post article gives a little more insight............

You mean the game has refocused into one about kicking a ball rather than kicking the opposition?

Good.  If I wanted to watch someone smack 7 shades of **** out of their opponent, I'd watch boxing.

I do not disagree with the sentiment, however we now have players losing the strength in their legs when their shirt gets a very light tug and players feigning injury to get a fellow professional sent off, that is not right either.

I do not want players going around kicking sevens shades of **** out of each other but I am equally sick of the rolling around in fake agony and players throwing themselves to the floor at the slightest touch.

11 a-side football is and has always has been a contact sport and a balance needs to be struck between the old days and how it is now...........

The one about the 2 old ladies sitting in a park discussing the purchase of a piston engine. Why did you buy that for? Because it's cheap.

How about this one - A bloke is in a hot air balloon totally lost, he decides to drop the balloon as low as he dares to ask a walker he has spotted for help, "Excuse me can you tell me where I am?", "You are about 75 feet in the air, standing in a whicker basket suspended from an envelope filled with propane" replied the walker, "You are an accountant aren't you" replied the balloonist, "Yes, how on earth did you know that?" replied the walker, "Because whilst what you told me is 100% factually correct it is absolutely **** all use to me"...............

Not true-Brentford had lost to Stoke in 2002. This was 2 months after a Feng Shui expert had been called in to try to end the jinx.

My bad, just read up on it, the Feng Shui did not work though because Cambridge got beaten 4-1 by Blackpool. Interestingly the Stoke manager whilst being dismissive of the jinx made sure his team stayed at a hotel that had only been used by winning teams............

Nearly 400 games for the club barely a memorable moment within them. Then one chance one opportunity and he missed. Probably the most. Norwich thing of all time.

That and the fact that up until that game no team that used the changing room we used had lost a play off final at Cardiff (ACN)............

See attached a quote from 2009. Note now the debt is 4 times higher, next year's Turnover likely to be only twice as high and gate money only 30% higher.

Why has the Football Club's version of Liz Truss not faced the same fate?

I think there is really only one solution to this.

You need to have a word with Mr Attanasio and see if there is any way you and your money can join him on the board.

This is the only way I can see of keeping you happy, harnessing your corporate knowledge and experience and sorting the clubs finances out for the better.............
