" 2) A freer electorate, whereby voters feel less need to vote tactically and can select a party that aligns with their views, rather than feeling compelled to pick from one of two or three whom they don't actually like " so would every party be on every ballot paper ? every single issue candidate on every ballot paper ?

Simply obliging the disinterested to turn up does not address the real problem. What brexit has shown is how clueless the overwhelming majority are about the political, and judicial, system hence them being easy prey to a very bias media. Where else would you have judges referred to as 'the enemies of the people' ? One regular on here even thought that the government made the law ! Ask what VAR is and you will find an awful lot more have a very good working knowledge of that than ever they do FTP. Fine if you are no really interested in how your country is run, but in millions of cases we have seen voters huffing and puffing about the 'sovereignty of parliament' then get even more animated when that very sovereignty is enacted. What should be compulsory is the above being taught in schools to a level where voters at least know what their vote is about.

at the moment you get a chance as a member to decide who will stand - and when you vote you know who you are voting for (or not) PR removes that transparancy you vote for a party then are told who your MP is

PR is the worst of all options if only that it suggests that it somehow delivers a 'fairer' systom. It removes the opportunity to elect a certain person as your MP. You just get whoever the party decides. It further allows minorities such as the DUP to wield enormous power and simply ends up as in Italy where the government falls every few months. The real problem is the whiners who crawl out at an election grizzling how awful it all is then spend the rest of the time voting for Love Island, I'm a **** keep me in here etc

" One in six patients waited longer than four hours in A&E in England during October – the worst-ever performance since a target was introduced in 2004, according to data. The shadow health secretary, Jonathan Ashworth, said: “The Conservatives have ushered in the worst NHS crisis on record. Under Boris Johnson the NHS is in crisis and we’re heading for a winter of abject misery for patients. “Our A&Es are overwhelmed, more so than ever. In every community there’s an ever-growing queue of people waiting for treatment. The Tories spent a decade cutting over 15,000 beds. Now they should apologise to every patient languishing on a trolley and waiting longer for treatment.” I suppose it is one way for the Tories to be rid of 'useless mouths (pensioners) - kill them off through reducing health care

only if you want to see the finer detail of how Farage has been fleecing the stupid much as Trum,p who used a veterans charity for his pesonal benefit that there are still those so stupid they cannot see through these pair of shysters makes you wonder just what they will require in the way of evidence much as with the fat fraud https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/boris-johnson-general-election-yorkshire-flood-office-a9201496.html

but not 62 years as you claimed, hence you posting as Jools rather than RTB and this is not about the world's population either which does rather point yet again to you being hand crank as he is all too fond of this trick of trying to misdirect when caught out lying......as highlighted above much as why bagster and Len have been sidelined, and Disco Dale has also fallen silent and it is becoming all too easy now - even others may begin to twig it's you behind these numerous saddos

selective polling ? whereas your own rogue poll is not selective and Survation has proven to be far more accurate than all the others, however even then there were plenty enough conditional comments included in my post but given how you have been wrong every time I will accept that you have a point that you must be right at some point ps are you still pro socialist or was that yesterday otherwise I shall bid you adios as there s little to be gained from engaging with an habitual liar/fantasist

    The Brexit Thread

nice to see you are lurking hand crank Yougov is none too accurate, hence my posting the Survation poll In fact the day before the poll Survation had the Tory lead at 1% (spot on) whereas Yugov gave it at 7% But then if you want you can find 'evidence' that the earth is flat, we can speak to the dea and Elvis is alive and working at the local chipshop - all of which might explain your constant errors when bleating about brexit

An update "A Survation opinion poll gives the Conservatives a 6-point lead today, the lowest since early October – so does this mean the election race is becoming closer? Survation puts the Tories on 35 per cent and Labour on 29 per cent, a result that could give Boris Johnson a majority of just 18 seats, according to the model used by the Electoral Calculus website. " And with the tactical voting already suggested then i would certaintly lead to no party having a majority, Survation are fairly accurate as their model is to focus on 'certainty of voting' rather than just 'who will you vote for'. But it is still only a snap shot of a few thousand a month before the vote. However the trend does seem to be of the Tory lead slowly decreasing, though I uspect we are yet to see the effect of Farage bottling it - which if as the right have been claiming was made up a huge amount of former Labour voters it should see an increase for both. But with a month to go there's 'many a slip between cup and lip'

I think there is already quite a number of these agreements already in place however the Libdems know they can, and will, make huge inroads into Tory voting so cannot be seen to have any association with Corbyn....hence the 'boo hiss, he's the devil' stance being taken likewise Corbyn knows that if the Libdems are seen as 'acceptable' then it's ok for pro Remain Lab voters to switch to the Libdems so as stated I think we will see differing tactics used in different areas, which rather negates using UK wide polls as any accurate projection of how the election will add up ps hand crank, RTB and Jools have all disappeared at the same time - perhaps they have left Disco Dale on duty as before

Another right wing fantasist https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-party-army-uniform-wreath-remembrance-sunday-darren-selkus-a9200326.html you might note the Van Wink line of defence, whereby you add (or subtract) something to the story and then argue about that instead - and odd how he has seemingly now become a pro socialist appearing to have dropped* all his previous bigotry and hate towards anything to the left of Ghengis Khan * he still puts it out, only as RTB now

Another Toty money making scam https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/nov/12/spac-nation-church-asks-young-members-to-hand-over-thousands what was it Galbraith said about Tories and their like “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy, that is the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. It is an exercise which always involves a certain number of internal contradictions and even a few absurdities. The conspicuously wealthy turn up urging the character-building value of privation for the poor.” was published in “Stop the Madness,” an interview with Rupert Cornwell, Toronto Globe and Mail (6 Jul 2002) While you can perhaps understand those 'at the top' who spout such stuff it is had to fathom the Alf Garnett like mentality of those 'at the bottom' who similarly spout such absurdities as if their lot in life is somehow better than those who they share their meagre lot with.

" A former media executive who lent his Westminster mansion to Boris Johnson has been rewarded with a safe Conservative parliamentary seat. Andrew Griffith, who is now the prime minister's chief business adviser, was selected as the Tories' candidate in Arundel and South Downs, replacing retiring MP Nick Herbert." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/general-election-boris-johnson-conservative-andrew-griffith-sky-arundel-south-downs-a9199846.html well at least the Tories can claim that it is not just the Russians who are funding their party, however it is not so clear what the returned favour is as far as the Russian money is concerned ps if you want more evidence of Tory lies/evasion then click on the link above and listen to the clip
