  1. To be fair, I agree that worthy needs to take some stick for our defence this season as a whole. I have a close friend who is a Tottenham supporter, so I saw quite alot of Docherty last season. When we forked out 750K for him I was shocked. He makes far too many costly mistakes for a central defender - He''s the sort of player who will have a great game, and then make one mistake that loses the match - a la Everton. Or he will have a terrible game. The one saving grace is that the Doc is a young Internatinoal defender, who in four or five years when he hits 29-30 will have the experience to avoid his tendency for errors. At the moment though, I don''t see he offers us much that Mackay didn''t. Worthy persists in playing the same defensive line-up because the main problem with our defence is they look like they''ve never played together - they don''t look properly drilled, and they don''t work as a unit. However this is a probelem that needs to be sorted out on the training ground, not by repeated bad performances in competitive matches. Our defence is not the only people to blame though. Our defending as a team makes the job very hard for the back four. Our side could take a serious tip from the Greek side that won the Euro cup. They had no truly outstanding players, yet through incredible team spirit and organisation they created a system that even the best teams in the world couldn''t break down. If our midfield, and strikers worked as a unit better, then they would stifle teams further up the pitch, and not cause so many attackers vs. defenders situations in matches where Norwich usually concede due to lack of quality. With our limited budget and playing squad NW''s job is made extremely difficult. Add injuries, and thingsd become nearly impossible. However I do believe that in football, individual skill cannot match a concerted team effort. If every player on the pitch is giving 100% for each other, I think that is enough to beat or draw with most teams in the premiership. The trick is making it happen as Otto Hitzfeld did with Greece. But remember, we are a promoted team - our defence will be poor - and our attack lacking. We only need to finish 17th, and that is clearly within reach. Stay faithful, and hope that worthy can drill our players into winning a few matches.
  2. Stop all the hating. Generally league positions are decided by how you perform in relation to your nearest competitors. Failing to get a win for a certain number of games does not result in the fact that we are going down. If we can draw 4-4 with middlesborough even at the end of such a bad run, with the injuries we have as well, then when our team is fit again I''m certain we can start picking up wins against WBA, Palace, Southampton, and possibly even teams like fulham, portsmouth who are trying to pull away from us. If we do that it will be enough. Remember that we aren''t looking to be mid-table - 17th position is a victory for us, and we are only a few points of the pace after suffereing a terrible run. Keep the faith!
  3. I have registered mainly to defend wizard. I have read these forums as a guest for ages, but when i saw wizard attacked i had to make my own contribution. Carry on Wizard - your posts are always interesting because they are written in a unique style!!!
  4. Haha! only joking. I''m a canary really. Have been here as a guest for a while and decided to join up. Its an exciting time to be a canary, especially now we''re signing a goalscorer. If there''s a problem with these forums its a lack of optimism. So hello to everyone, and don''t lose faith in my first pinkun forums prediction: canaries for a top 15 finish! I figure Worthy has got the measure of most opponents tactically speaking, we now have a goalscorer - watch us rocket up the table in the second half of the season!!!
