Who Are Those Who Would Keep Hughton?
Bobert replied to CambridgeCanary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Who are those who want to keep Hughton ? the over 80''s club mostly ,old people are scared of change .Although possibly not as scared as Hughton is of rival Premiership sides.
That is a load of rubbish! The over 80''s have not got the time to keep watching Hughton''s dross. They remember the good times and want them back quickly before they die. Let''s get shut of him and his cohorts and move on. Maybe we should start collection pails outside the ground to pay him off. -
The managers chair will be occupied and knowbody at the AGM will have the balls to challenge that so i wouldn''t get too excited.
Well of course one would need a seconder to the proposal but its not like last time when Delia''s choice of Chairman was on the line. This time it is McNalley who would stand to loose his million a pound a year job and if Delia has now got her money back she might not care if he moved on. Delia was once very happy to wave to the Barclay.
Will the managers chair be empty?
I suppose at the start of the Meeting I could propose that the meeting be ajourned to another place and another time when the Managers chair be occupied by a man more competent and likely to achieve the Chairman''s express wishes as detailed at last years AGM. That should put the cat amongst the pigeons.
I''ve not been posting on here for too long but I''ve noticed some post a lot and some not so, is this an age thing ? Personally I''ve just got my bus pass etc so now have more spare time ! ! My guess is Ricardo is about my age and Wiz is not in long trousers yet !
I think how many years left to go is more to the point. Taking the last years one is able to climb the stairs to the top of the Barclay as being 80 yrs it means that the guy who is 78 yrs has got just 2 seasons to see Norwich win the "cup". To that guy the choice of manager is really, really important. The young man 24 yrs old has got 56 seasons and he can wait because in all that time someone hopefully will lead Norwich to the promised land. I would not like to spend my days like Morty does glued to the Pinkun perhaps with an aim to make 10,000 posts. There is so much more to do and see in life. Maybe Morty has a degree but for certain he could have one, or another, or a Phd if he swopped his interest.

Will Hughton-outers concede...
Bobert replied to lake district canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Of course there are some who want Hughton out whatever, Lakey, but it would be an absolute travesty if you were suggesting that all of us who have had severe reservations over the last few weeks/months are thus minded. Of course I''m happy with the result. Who wouldn''t be ? But, as others have said, it was only one win against a pretty limited WHU side, and our first 45 was absolutely DIRE. I have been consistent in saying that CH should be given till end Nov to show some evidence that he''s turning it round, and I stick to that. Welcome as last night was, and it may be that he''s been woken up to the seriousness of the plight, and the need for a different approach, but it''ll need a lot more of what we saw in the second half last night to convince me that, long term, he''s the correct man for the job.
Hughton was a one season Manager hired to do a specific job which he did. He should have been fired at the end of the season in the same way that the Southampton Manager was moved along. That way we might have been in the same position today. If we want to get out of the bottom ten Hughton has to go and McNally has to find a replacement before the end of November as you say. I for one do not want to see us have a lucky win because one of our players chooses to fall over or another rolls about the fied in supposed agony -
Birmingham Fan in Peace - Hughton
Bobert replied to bjornagain's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Some guys get promoted beyond their ability because they are "nice" whilst the ones that work hard, achieve results but cause ripples get fired. I have met lots of guys like that in life. They hide with jobs at County Hall, the big Insurance Companies, the NHS and Shell, They retire with good pensions and become presidents of Golf Clubs, Civic Societies and the like. I have never met Chris Hughton but I expect he is one of these people. Promoted beyond his ability. He will eventually "step down" from NCFC with a big pay cheque and quickly be offered a job with the FA or FIFA or the like where he will not make waves but make up the numbers (ten on the committee) and be invited to official dinners and trips overseas. He is perhaps waiting for that job offer now so he is being "nice" and making himself re-employable. -

Managers thoughts in pink un today.
Bobert replied to City 2nd's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Well we didn''t did we, I did not use my season ticket to go and watch because the excitment of watching football at Carrow has drained away since this manager and his back room staff joined the club. I am not a well man and it takes a lot of effort for me to make my seat in the Barclay and then walk home again. Sod it I will watch the England v Oz R.L. game on TV instead. Like it. I have two passports and cannot loose on that one! It was a great game and my team won!! -
It was lovely. Every game was exciting. His second half substitutions. The feel good factor walking home. I could never understand a word he said but I knew for certain he had given his all to get the lads to win the game. What a Manager, Best in my 40 years and more of watching Norwich.

The best ground is in Seattle which was paid for by the City issuing a bond to the citizens. Wonderful views and seating with lounges and hundreds of TV.s and bars. Moving staiorcases to take you to your seat, ample parking, doubles with football and soccer. Our best location is behind Tesco on the Ipswich Road, Near to City Centre, on the rail line and main A140 and Southern by-pass. Private ownership and happy to sell'' Go for it. 3,000 home units on Carrow and Car Park.

I do agree with you D.C. These guys are so greedy for themslves and their clubs. Reminds me of what I have read about slave traders. I remember the days of £12 a week maximum wage players and tens of thousands of true fans standing in the pouring rain to watch the match. Players with pronouncable names and a desire to be a local hero, Transfer fees would be illegal contracts in restraint of trade in any other employment and should be illegal in football. We need a new Wilberforce to lead us to freedom.

Every penny counts NCFC shirt sales on eBay
Bobert replied to Canaries Utd's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Yes Morty let us have a bit of style. Some things ( like going to the Upper Barclay in the Service Lift) just make us look small. No matter what we do we are not big enough to get into the top seven so let us be happy with the top ten and have a bit of carpet on the stairs and splash guards in the urinals! -
It was very boring LDC and very much like the games we played last season. Different players perhaps but same style. That points to the Manager or the Coach. We were lucky to win. Two fine individual stops by our boys and a couple of fluke goals by us means we could have lost 4-0 and all the crap written about defensive or organised football would have been shown up for what it is. I don''t know if you came to the game LDC but apart from a few kids brought up in the last year or so I belive there must have been 22,000 Norwich fans who, although glad of the money Hughton has earned for the Club, must have been wishing he and his staff were not at Carrow. Most of the game Everton looked to be the winning side and their supporters knew how, and most definately when, to sing.

David McNally speaking at the AGM meeting

Perhaps you would care to translate as it is in a "speak" that I and my generation can not hope to understand. -
Norwich City, Stephen Fry and gay footballers
Bobert replied to Dubai Mark's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
About a year ago the lower Brclay were chanting "Who''s the Wanker in the pink?" at the visiting fans. Well it might be just a bit of fun to the Lower Barclay but I think it''s rather nasty and it would not happen at a rugby match either Union or League. Don''t get me wrong the Rugby chums at Union with there sick sandwich making females and pretend scums in League have their problems too but Machio Soccer fans and argumentive players do rather spoil the national game. I think that if the ruling class wants to be anti gay in Russia we should pull out of the "games". I personally do not care if we come 10th in the downhill whatnot and I am sure that 50 million of us Brits do not care either. I am a "liitle Englander" and care about my adopted Norwich and as long as we keep our noses clean that is good enough for me whatever we do. -
Well I thought most of the norwich games were deadly boring last season and I would not like to go though it again especially as the walk to Carrow and more so back from Carrow is getting harder by the week. I cannot believe that Hughton has had a lot to do with the new signings except for one and I cannot believe Hughton will suddenly become excitment on the touchline either so for me its OUT. To be honest we are never going to fit in the top ten.... not with a 26,000 crowd..... so it is always going to be a struggle. Our best hope is for a slimmed down Premier League and a place in the second tier then we might have excitment, a team that wins and a good manager.

Last year at this time I got 7/1 on Norwich finishing in the top ten. I lost of course as Norwich finished 11th. This year the offer last week was 7/2 so it seems to me that the bookies are pretty certain we are going to stay up. If you feel that the usual crop are going to be in the top seven i,e. Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton and Livepool for me to win anything there are only three places, I suspect those are going to be filled by Fulham, Swansea and ourselves but there is not much room for error. I think I will stop out of the betting this year!

There seems to be some pretty bitter Villa fans...
Bobert replied to calriv's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
My grandfather used to be a major shareholder in Villa. Shareholders used to get free season tickets to the games. My mother used to use her fathers ticket after he died in 1910. Grandad came by his shares by putting up a prize for a cycling competition and the shares were security for repayment of a loan which was never repaid. Villa had a cycling track between the pitch and the fans operated by the "Rover Cycling Club" which later became the Rover Car Company later part of BMC. Perhaps the answer to Villa''s problems is to take up cycling again. Build a new cycling track? Their strikers could practise bicycle kicks! -
For we are saying "Give us a Lift"!
Bobert replied to Bobert's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I wonder if Herman (8045 posts) YankeeCanary (5877 posts) Chops (14406 posts) and yourself Hannibal (a mere 242 posts) have ever achieved anything for the Club, the fans, or the team with the over 28,000 writings between you? Perhaps you would let us readers know! -
I suppose few of you on this Board realise that the way to their seats for Golden Oldies in the Upper Barclay is via the Service Lift, I wonder how the new entrance proceedures are going to affect them. It really is time that a multi million pound operation like NCFC could afford a proper lift for their old folks. A stumble on the steps could be very serious. Entrance to the Gunn Club is also a problem which needs a bob spent on it. The cost could be quickly collected I should think with a raffle after a game. I was very thankful for our former M.P. coming to my aid one time when I slipped on the concret entrance steps and he is not a young man.

Is the trip to the US going to serve any purpose?
Bobert replied to Bobert's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Reading Canary some of you guys need to get about in the world. It is Sky TV (Fox TV) that advertises Premier League sides thoughout the world not tiring, poxy 7 day tours to the sticks. You can watch Norwich play in Pubs and clubs and your own home from Hong Kong, and Chicago to Taupo (NZ) and Perth (Oz) without any problems. A coach load of Norwich players playing some Mexican team few have ever heard of is going to do nothing for Norwich if all 25 players are going to get part of the game. Intensive pre season training is the way to go preferably away from other Clubs scouts. Hit the ground running fresh and fit. New players, good weather, etc is all on our doorstep in Europe. 1992 was twenty years ago. The world has changed. -
Is the trip to the US going to serve any purpose?
Bobert replied to Bobert's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Turns out that the first game of this US tour is to be against a Mexican Club that are half way down, or half way up, their league. I cannot make out if this Club is in the First or Second division but I think it is the latter. The game seems to have been put together at the last minute presumably because no other team wanted to play us. If McNally can pull the end of season celebration dinner because the boys had nothing to celebrate at the time perhaps be should think seriously about this tour. Three games in a week is not going to be much fun for the lads. They would not do it at peak fitness in the middle of the season and the strain on their limbs of the games added to the travel does not seem the way to prepare for the new season in the Premiership. Not sure who came up with the idea of this tour but does not seem to be in NCFC best interests to me. -

Oh come on Bradley Johnson believe he qualifies to play for USA and is a mate of the USA coach. His trip to USA was an entiely different thing.
