  1. It’s a political dilemma I suppose, hopefully for Labour they will chose the right path. Personally I would rather see a party elected with strong and clear policies and following through on them, surely that’s the whole point. Naive I know 😁
  2. Not the expected results and surprised that the Tories were not swept away in all three. People vote with their pockets, Uxbridge shows that yet again, if I were SKS I would be pushing a positive Labour agenda and not continuing to rely on an anti Tory vote, the Tories are more than capable of creating a short term economic boost prior to the election.
  3. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jul/10/nato-sweden-pm-to-meet-with-turkeys-erdogan-in-last-ditch-bid-to-seal-membership Erdogan never one to do anything without trying to extract maximum gain.
  4. Good post👍 I could never work out how our forefathers took pleasure from watching public executions, I still can’t, but it’s becoming obvious that there is a human fetish that is stimulated by watching the destruction of others.
  5. The “Moral Maze” radio 4 tonight 8.00 will be discussing this point, media coverage of a few very very rich people being lost on a jaunt vis hundreds of migrants drowned at sea at a very similar time. I think it was the timing of the two incidents, being so close together, and the stark contrast in coverage that really hit home with me and caused me to write the above post.
  6. It’s a strange emotion when you think the hundreds who lost their lives at sea last week off the Greek coast.
  7. Is it the England walking football team? Presumably the pros are off on a well deserved holiday, particularly the benchers
  8. Wrong decision as it turned out, but on another occasion it will come off. With Root playing as he was there was possibly a 50 run swing there.
  9. Nadine thinks she is "brighter" than those in number 10, worrying thing is she maybe not far from the truth
  10. LYB often puts an alternative view, the more the better imo
  11. https://www.thefa.com/news/2023/jun/14/new-gbe-criteria-140623 Good news
  12. I’m not sure you are correct there, there was a new government department set up to deal with Brexit and it was seen as the “place to be” in civil the service at the time, staff were leaving other departments or being head hunted to change roles, the brightest and the best were drawn in. This process must have affected all other departments of government with them losing their brightest and best, I can’t believe that this had no negative impact on other departmental or ministry functions across the whole. Also all departments were having to focus some of their attention on the implications of Brexit for them, further diverting some resource. I don’t thing anyone had appreciated how complex it was going to be and for a period much of government was distracted from its day job.
  13. There are certainly more important things to shed tears on that’s for sure, I think I may have had a dig back if I had been him, but it was unprofessional and he shouldn’t have done it. But that still doesn’t change history and what he did achieve for our club.
  14. I agree with you, the recent poor performance shouldn't tarnish his overall positive contribution to the club
  15. He makes a fair point about criticism being fine but not so with personal abuse
  16. I suspect the seed has been sown and scattered far and wide.
