  1. Totally agree Bernard Robinson. Its part and parcel of football that young players will get released by clubs, some will have the desire and ambition to prove the manager wrong and eventually make it, others will settle in the lower professional leagues, whilst the majority will fall into non-league football or give up the game. All managers release players who have evetually come good, Atkinson with David Platt and Ferguson with Savage being prime examples.  If you think how many young players have been released by NW is his career here and how many have actually remained in league football the percentage is very small.  Can anyone name any players, other than Crow and Hayes who were released and are still in league football? Yes, NW should give youth more of a chance but to critisise him for releasing one player, just on the basis that he may get a transfer to a Premiership club, is unfair.
  2. Ronbol Ronbol, you are right, as a bona fide KTF i must admit i am to blame for Deano going to West Ham. I was in Asda''s the on Friday by the Deli counter when i saw Dean there buying some healthy pasta.  I was in such awe of him that instead of placing my order for ''Premier Fresh Ham'' i blurted out ''Premier West Ham'' Dean gave me a smile and a look to show that he had just made an important decision, before i knew it Deano was on his mobile phone staing that he wanted to be ''an Eastender''. I merely thought that he was going to join the cast of the well know BBC soap so imagine my astonishment when the news came out on Saturday of his transfer to West Ham. I hang my head in shame!
  3. Wiz, I can''t see why you continually attack Delia and the board just because the refuse to sack a manager and refuse to pay out vast transfer fees which may cripple the club at a later date.  You only have to look down the road too see what trouble Ipswich got into through lack of prudence.  In order for Robinson to be signed ''The Smiths'' and others have provided a loan to the club.  The majority of this message board think Robinson will be a good signing.  So if you had you way Delia would be out, Robinson would not be at the club and this message board would be berating Worthy for his lack of signings, as you have done in your original post. So what is it to be then? Delia or new players?  Or perhaps you have contacts in the Russian underworld and are planning to bring Romans third cousin twice removed into the club?
  4. Paul, You must have too much time on your hands! Actually going onto other teams message boards and finding negative comments on two signings you don''t agree on is surely taking the Worthy bashing a bit too far. Did you also look on PSVs message boards to find critisim of Colin aswell but found that you couldn''t translate Dutch!? I''m sure if i was too look hard enough on WBA''s websites i would find plenty of negative comments on your dream signing of Koumas.
  5. To be honest, i don''t think the siginings have been successful, otherwise we would be near the top of the league! However, who can tell if a signing is going to be a success or not?  Last season when we signed Helveg, Jonsson and Bentley i thought these would be great signings but all didn''t work out.  I think its hard to determine if a player has been successful or not and too early to judge on his recent signings. Certainly people thought Davenport was a success. Surely you should judge a managers signings over the course of the reign and on that basis its about a 70/30 success rate. Even the most successful manager is going to pick naff players -  even Alex Ferguson has signed players of the calibre(!) of Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson. Last season Noriwch got praised in many sections of the media for playing attractive passing football and look where it got us. Surely you have to adapt your game for the division and teams that you are up against.  Unfortunately this sometimes means you have to play direct football.  I don''t think that injuries to players such as Safri and Marney and that their replacements do not have the same passing vision and technique.  In addition i thought that Marney was bought to the club to be a right winger. Yes Worthingtons team selections and tactics have been a bit dodgy and he is loyal to certain players, however isn''t this the case for most managers?  Doherty actually played as a striker for Spurs and Ireland and had more Premiership experience than McKenzie.  If you remember it was difficult for McKenzie to get into the side in the Championship so why should Worthy have him as his main striker in the  Premiership? I am a Worthy supporter but even i can see that unless he gets into the play offs this season then he will have to go as he has taken us as far as possible.  The last question is irrelevant anyway because even the board would sack Worthy if we finished mid-table after two years let alone 5. Even the most hard core Worthington fan can see that the performances this season have not been up to scratch but i feel he should be given at least the season to get us back into the Premiership.  In addition the board are not going to sack him at the current time and in my opinion there is no adequate replacement anyway.
