  1. Just in case we don''t meet again you should check out the 2 Roger Daltry solo albums.Plenty of youtubes and good reviews.I never bought it but Bryan Ferry doing Dylanesque is worth a listen. As a young married chap we used to cruise along the Kings Road in a friends open top sports car blasting out "I''m in with the In crowd" Ferry again... "Glory Days".Christopher.
  2. Sorry Sir Humphrey, failed to take up the lottery. It does seem a bit random. Passing the site on Sunday there are lot of significant buildings.Ping Pong...Hasn''t it been proved that the English invented the game. As for Fencing ----Remove the mask. A good scar would enhance any gent worth his sabre or foil.I spent 3 years fencing at school and the thing that really hurt was the epee(accents not included). I am sure you will enjoy the times, but as for Ken''s comment " It''ll only cost every Londoner the price of a Walnut Whip"I hope that he finds a whip that cheap. ce
  3. I wouldn''t have minded joining in the Ladies beach volleyball contest.Maybe as the net.ce
  4. Thought I''d try and calm the waters on the pulled thread topic. I spent the weekend playing this ol'' LP.Max''s live at Kansas City. Pale Blue Eyes. The link is to a different version. (The live is a bit off tune at times.)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nir4BnNIFmgce
  5. I am afraid I never got the hang of Jazz . Interesting to read the comments in Hermans'' list of recently viewed Youtubes.Jazz was a culture of the time, Speakeasys, smokey basements. Jamie Cullum should be on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Sq. Stuffed (|Allegedly)ce
  6. Birds seem to find a place to nest in the most strange places. A blackbird reared 3 chicks in a bit of honeysuckle 6 inches above my front door this spring.Every time I went in or out they would go berserk thinking food was about to be delivered.Queen were in the news this week with a lost TOTP performance being discovered on VHSin a clear out. So yours W. would be on the same level of interest ce
  7. I was quite surprised at the prices.... I suppose it is best that I have a nice meal out on the proceeds than that it ends up in a house clearance skip!.Snybarb mentioned that there is not much point in being the richest bloke in the graveyard. It is unlikely to attract mint condition status. But as I am deperately trying to get rid of a lifetime of accumulation, I may follow that path. After I have copied it of course!Mega rare...???.ce
  8. It''s hard to be the best female singer these days, Herman. Nice girl. LykkeLi .Still it''s a mountain to climb.Ella, Hynde, Janis, Juliet Turner who fronted for Dylan some years ago.  This one might be interesting.I have 2 record players, London and Norfolk and I often play this one by Dorris Henderson and John Renbournwhen the fire is lit on an autumn evening in Norfolk. It seems from looking it up to post it is a collector''s item. Do I flog it?I have enjoyed it for almost 40 years so I guess the kids will offload it and another load of dosh is wasted by the exchequor.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EpkbNcjTjU&feature=related.There are many links to other sessions. First time I have googled and I am still moved.ce
  9. Thanks John. Good stuff. Finally caught up with it this morning. Last night I was enjoying Sword Of Honour. For the first time after many years rambling round NT country houses I saw a "Thunder Box" for the fiirst time.A classic piece of travelling kit for discerning gentlemen.Last summer I enjoyed a long evening at a sort of charity event at the Brisley Bell. A young girl had recently moved intoa nearby village and was trying to get her music going. Like BellowHeads there were more instruments than players. She was an elfin like fiddle/violinist. There was klezmar, solo vocal, sea shanties, everything. I think they mostly played for the beer.Which brings me onto another ramble. Yesterday outside the "Agricultural" pub on the corner of Liverpool Road and Chapel Street Market. N1.There was a young girl playng a Ukelele and singing nicely. Just sitting cross legged on the pavement. It brightened up my day. From her thanks to my handful of change she was American or Canadian. The pub used to be the meeting place for Socialist Workers who would ,after sufficient drink march to the Angel to confront BNP chaps who had been similarly infusing at another haunt. They would hurl abuse at each other from opposite sides of the road for an hour or so and then head off for anotherpint or two. Job done "Glory Days". I preferred the girl.!Christopher.
  10. Really enjoyed those youtubes. Great songs but I loved the final family video.I have often felt that my attempts at youtubes were a bit naff. Been banned by Sony for obvious reasons.Buick? by the dockside.Still, the director of Ronnie Lane''s "Passing Show" was kind enough to comment and mentioned his film had beenre-issued on DVD and was now much better. One for the Birthday List."Tin and Tambourine". Not listening at the moment but it''s always on the player. Here is another one to consider. As there are many modern country /folk rock postingshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g70zT3lXPZc           ................( Eric Anderson).First song I played when I pulled MrsE,  a lifetime ago.ce
  11. Well Herman ,after having to register and discovering that I am not the only ChristopherE in the world.A humbling experience. I am about to embark on a new world of radio. I always wanted to listen to the radio hour.It was usually beyond our bedtime!. I know it is available on CD. Watching the re-run of No Direction Home, showed he was a good talker."There is no Diva like an old Diva."ce
  12. Thanks for that Herman, at the moment the old bloke is in all the newspapers.Strange programme about the Dylan Garbologist!.I was faffing about replying to Alejandra, mentioning that Bob.D ended his recent China concert with "Forever Young".Nothing wrong with being young A. Enjoy it with your puppy ,I bet the hound is as big as you by now!.Good song anyway.ce
  13. Thanks Herman. I will dip into that next.. I was faffing about replying to Alejandra being younger than the song byGeorge Harrison. Nothing wrong with that.Alejandra. Bob D. signed off his China show with "Forever Young".Enjoy it while you can with the hound which is probably as big as you by now.ce
  14. Bob Dylan live 1966. The "Judas" concert. Great for a car journey across London. You can play it loud because more than 15 mph is pretty impossible,so the car more or less drives itself.Especially the final song upcoming. After all the booing and heckling.3 footstamps and he turns to the Band "Play it Fu+=ing LOUD"Brings tears to the eyes after all these years.I sound like an old codger but my nephew has awe at the collection on the shelf in my office, (his bedroom at the moment.)Plans to do some..... ripping... don''t tell Sony.Happy 70th Mr Z.ce
  15. Don''t worry Shack Attack. I enjoyed it. Even If I am still lost in space. Not looking forward to the Sheriff of Nottingham''s offering... if it ever gets aired in the UK.Surely Lilly should have said "dad don''t do it". A bit like my contact with a long ago ex hubby. Kids are not happy. but there seems to be some sort of resolution for me.I am not sure what I feel myself.odd times.ce
  16. Well despite a few parts of my life when I missed episodes, I have watched from the opening days.Always found it fun.See my comment about "Let''s be avin yew" Presently "mystified I am". but it is still good. I enjoyed it but slightly bemused. They talk so fast these days.I hate to say it "Oh god not another luvvie moment", but I came across the producer who brought "who" back to life, after some doldrums.John Nathan Turner. A huge character.Certainly bigger than me. People I know keep passing away. I bit saddening really.ce
  17. Delia, oh, Delia, Delia all my life / If I hadn''t have shot poor Delia, I''d have had her for my wife / Delia''s gone, one more round, Delia''s gone ...Thanks Johnny Cash.I  read the same piece over my warmed Sainsbury''s croissant and coffee. I read it slightly differently. You missed out the AWThompson comments.I find a woman of a certain age who likes a full glass totally engaging.Dame Helen my telephone number is 01234...I like Delia all the more for her enthusiasm.. ''Fraid I don''t know anything about the footie. And I had to give up on the Rioja a few years ago!.A lifetime ago Arthur Lowe (mentioned in the article) suffered from narcolepsy and had to have his wife on stage who never spoke during pantomimes. She was there to give him a poke everytime he was due to say a line. It was quite unsettling to find him nodding off mid speech!Anyway I find Delia''s rants more fun than no rantsce
  18. Out of defense for Delia and congratulations for your team .I knew her TV producer 35 years ago. A neighbour. It was after she was a London Evening Standard columnist and a bit of a celeb. The times of Mary Quant and Biba. (AAAAh thank goodness short skirts are back in.)She was totally freaked by the process of TV and had to be taken away to a calm placeto work on her presentation. Burgh St Peter.  You can still tell she is working hardto overcome nerves on TV, and if a few glasses of red wine is what is needed. Good for her.Not many of us write books, and sing on TV,after all.ce
