1. Surprised about that. Championship is about his level IMHO; he can play Premiership but would stand out in the Champo. Is he good enough for the highest level?
2. Blimey. Some people have some egos on here. If you''re a Norwich City player do you think you''d pay more attention to playing in front of 26,000 fans cheering you on, people wandering around the city in replica kits with your name on, children collecting stickers and Match Attack cards with your face on, signing autographs, meeting supporters at fans'' forums and in the club shop, getting national coverage, getting handshakes in Sainsburys etc or one or two people on a messageboard or Canary Call saying we aren''t scoring enough? Also for every person doing this there is at least one more sticking up for you and backing the club to the hilt. This is the first generation of Norfolk children in a long while that see NCFC as a ''Premiership club'' and support them over Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. We sell out every home game and our fans travel for hours and hours and spend thousands on fuel for away games and their support is unwavering. Personally I feel the fans have been one of the very few positives in a long, turgid season and for people to start blaming them on our relegation baffles me.
3. No, OP, the fans are in no way to blame for the club''s relegation. There''s never been a negative or poisonous atmosphere except until the end of the WBA game; in fact Carrow Road sells out every single week and we take thousands to away games where the team is set up to not have any shots on target. There has been an undercurrent of ''Hughton Out'' on Canary Call and on the boards but there''s always a vocal minority. Do you really think NCFC players are listening to Radio Norfolk at 5pm on a match day? Apart from that us fans have been going to every game and watching awful, awful games of football which are uninspiring, boring and passionless. IMHO the 1-0 loss at home to none-league Luton at home is still worse than the 7-1 defeat to Colchester and still many fans stuck by Hughton because of this ridiculous ''nice guy'' tag which I still have no idea how he''s developed. Fans stuck by him after 7-0 losses and games without any attempts let alone any attempts on target.I put 99.9% of our relegation firmly at the feet of Hughton and his coaching staff for negative tactics, destroying the confidence of players, picking favourites and selling others or refusing to play them, not changing tactics, making like-for-like swaps, not having a clue who our penalty taker is etc etc. 0.1% goes to the players. The most annoying thing about this year is still opposition supporters who are surprised at why we sacked Hughton because he''s ''nice'' and done a good job for us.
4. Our confidence appears absolutely shot to pieces. Probably finish about 11th or something with a stronger charge the season after that
5. Bit harsh on Wolfy. He doesn''t need to apologise; he never set his transfer fee - that was between NCFC and Sporting Lisbon - and although he''s been pretty hopeless, none of our strikers since Hughton came in have particularly shone due to the style we play and feeding off scraps and poor balls.Surprised about Pilkington as well - no idea what''s happened to him. When he first came to us he was a free-scoring midfielder and playing very well but has just completely disappeared of late. Definitely Premiership quality.
6. Yeah, full-on respect to every single one of the travelling supporters. I confess I haven''t been to a single away game this season. As uninspiring and hapless our season has been, the one thing I can be proud of as a Norwich fan is the strength and quality of our away following who have watched awful game after awful game and still keep going, at great cost and travel time. Proper respect.
7. As many have already said, he''s too lightweight for the Premiership so he''ll be far too lightweight for the Champo. Will simply be man-marked out of every game and he''s already woefully short on confidence
8. Period of transition next year; new manager and a proper clear-out. Probably finish about 8th, then go for it in 15/16
9. Personally I feel we have a good squad but just had the confidence sucked out of them and coached into a negative frame of mind. I also feel Hughton had his favourites and some players would never play and some would constantly play, whatever their form.I really hoped we would stay up but if you''re a team in the Premiership trying to grind out 38 draws, you''re going to get relegated.
10. Are we ever going to go above that dotted line from now until the final game?
11. Eddie Howe *fingers crossed*Also I think if Hughton managed Celtic they''d still be comparatively attacking, such is the awful nature of the SPL
12. The vast, vast majority of clubs that go down do not come straight back up again; look at Bolton, Blackpool, Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Birmingham etc etc
13. It''ll be Hart, Foster and Forster. Hart obviously, Hodgson has said Foster is his number two and Forster will be one for the future.
14. I think Chris is glad to have gone to be honest so all parties are happy. He''d never have got any game time for Norwich and instead has gone to Derby and become a goalscorer for them. Don''t forget he had quite a few loans to Palace in the Championship and didn''t really do much. Also didn''t do much for Derby in his first season.
15. Personally I''m surprised Whittaker has kept his place. Also thought Hoolahan provided quite a lot when he came on against Fulham
16. Quite brilliant, Jas! I wonder if Stupid Barry will be at the game?
17. Newcastle are one of those ''exceptions that prove the rule''. Very few clubs come bouncing straight up again. In fact these days it''s more likely clubs will get relegated twice than to be relegated and then promoted.QPR and Wigan have a phenomenal team on paper, but both are miles off the top spot. There are loads of clubs who go down and flounder for years and years.Any player who doesn''t want to be here shouldn''t be here. Never conducive for morale and won''t put in the necessary hard-work to get out of that division.
18.
This is an honest question, not a dig, but have you watched us this season Chunky?
I never mind an honest question Mrs M.I''ll be honest and say I haven''t watched every single game but I have seen most. Personally I feel our players are massively short of confidence and playing in a system which stifles them. For example against Cardiff and West Ham we had the lion''s share of chances but fluffed them and looked shaky when it mattered by conceding. You could also argue that Hughton threw the game away against WHam by taking off our two most dangerous players and opting for a point. Again IMO because we are playing so negatively, this puts increased pressure on the forwards to make every single chance count and our defence to not concede AT ALL.We look short on confidence - RvW especially - and look like we''re going down but I haven''t seen anything (again IMO) which seems to indicate the players don''t care or are trying to engineer moves away from the club.
19. Whilst not arguing with you, I think our central midfield of Howson and Fer have enough about them and Tettey and Johnson do provide some steel. Also cue the usual cries of even if we had Shelvey and Thud, we''d not be using them to their full potential
