  1. Exactly. I see no reason why we can''t set a goal to finish 5th, and that only as it''s unreasonable to expect to finish in the top 4. Now I don''t expect us to finish that high, but to say it''s our target (and hence qualify for Europe) would demonstrate ambition - that plus a new stadium perhaps? ;-)

  2. Reading... that based on watching Kerry Dixon around1980-82, either in the Third or Fourth Division. The East Stand terraces were very "interesting", no idea how that passed the saftey inspections. Apparently the last game played there was against Norwich.

  3. " I think most Canary fans would feel very aggrieved if any new owner changed our famous yellow and green to red for the ''Asian market'' "

The good news there is yellow is seen as being an even more prestigious color than red in Asian cultures. Yellow and green imply beauty, courage, energy, prosperity and harmony. In Muslim cultures green is their religion''s fundamental colo.

So while everyone else is sporting red, it''s a lot better for us - from Tiznit to Tokyo - to be sporting yellow and green...

So there marketing team you have been dealt the best hand anyone could hope for :-)

  4. "...As to people abroad knowing little or nothing about Norwich, that chimes with my experience. But shouldn''t be a surprise. How many NCFC fans could say anything much about Wolfsburg, who finished 11th in what is probably the best league in Europe? Or about similarly-placed Cagliari or Nice?..."

Recognition is picking up here at least. Not from shirt colors, but just wearing my grey shirt with the club badge is getting "so you support Norwich then?" comments fairly frequently,.

So I suspect it''s the combination of a) it is a distinctive badge and b) we are in the Premier League and so getting the TV exposure.

What maybe could do with a make over is "on the ball city" - I don''t know how, but that''s a piece of histiry that seems to be struggling to remain relevant; but maybe it''s a case of not trying too hard to incorporate it and just let the fans get on with singing it when approprate?

  5. IMO there are some really clean and districtive club badges around - including Bolton, Fulham and Swansea, but I think ours holds up perfectly well with those - as do Derby, West Brom and Man Utd.

Not bad, but no cigar - Birmingham, Brighton, Charlton, Chelsea, Crewe, Hull, Liverpool, Man City, Palace, Portsmouth, Reading, Sheff Utd, Southend, West Ham, York.

Then the absolute garbage badges - Arsenal, Bradford, Cardiff, Doncaster, Everton, Ipswich, Huddersfield, Leeds, MK Dons, QPR, Sheffield Wed, Spurs, Stoke, Villa, Watford.

Clubs that essentially use their town''s coat of arms are at least "traditional" even if rather messy, but those above are just terrible... and quite a few of those clubs have had good badges in their past...

So in summary - leave our iconic badge well alone!

  6. Maybe a different perspective from "across the pond" but nothing wromg with that - everyone here is allowd a personal firearm, subject to a background check against felony or lunacy.

So what exactly is the issue you are whinging on about ?

  7. Wow, have to tell you the San Jose stadium facilities looks like a throwback to the Nest :-)

Buck Shaw Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

Shame we are not playing in LA instead.

    Home Depot Center, Carson LA

Still, San Francisco / Bay Area is physically beautifull, so well worth spending time to explore the city, coastline, wine country etc.

Sacremento ground is a basebal stadium, which could be fun, so if this view on Google maps is right, best tickets may be on 3rd base side of the stands.

    Raley Field, Sacramento, CA

“The game will give Sacramento soccer fans the opportunity to see two distinct styles of football – the short passing, inventive Latino style against the more direct physical approach from the English Premier League,” said Graham Smith, technical director of Sac Pro Soccer. :-)

  8. In all of this what can''t be overlooked is the relative strength of our squad. Loosing Ruddy for months and to a lessor extent Plikington put a major dent in our capability v''s more established / bigger spending teams.

So overall, critisism regrding style was merited, but in the end it was "a job well done" - now let''s build up the squad so we are less vulnerable to key injuries next year.

  9. " Anyway, some of you seem happy with Hughton, we''re all happy with Lambert so alls good! "

Indeed AJ. Both clubs achieved their goals, Villa seems to be set fair on a new direction, Norwich secured its positon in the top league and can start building the squad for the future.

Looking forward to next year and all 6 points from your lot (and maybe an FA cup win too)
