  1. "dissapointed at finishing 15th or below because of our investment" seems to me to be a dubious argument - because everyone else has or will invest to strengthen their team too.

However we did finish mid table the previous two years and this weekend suggested that Stoke (mugged in a 1-0 loss at Liverpool), Cardiff, Hull (ditto 2-0 at Chelsea) and Palace have a lot of work to do to survive let alone thrive, and I have serious doubts that Villa, Newcastle, WBA, Sunderland, Fulham and Southampton can sustain good form over a season... so putting 3 of those below us too my "minimum acceptable" would be 13th.

  2. "Bruce is quite a bit younger. Perhaps he''s just embarrassed to be a Tiger"

He''s been that way since Sundeland, maybe even Wigan. I just showed my daughter a clip of Norwich v Ipswich Milk Cup semi-final when he played a blinder (and scored) and was thinner :-)

Of course all she noticed was the short shorts!

  3. Edit button one more time ...

" Are you saying that overseas players are better than those based in the UK? Because I''d argue that the Premier League is the strongest league in the world" .... etc etc

"Of course £15m is too much money for McCarthy"

" We don''t know how much Maloney would cost of course"

Look, most of what you wrote has nothing to do with what I said... for example I never mentioned Maxi Lopez.

Your original question was why didn''t we structure these Holt and Barnett deals to buy either MCarthy or Maloney?

I''ll stand by what I said

" Because we are looking for better quaity than that... "

    and

" We aren''t going to bid on players to only improve a position a little bit, when we buy we are adding serious quality .. which means overseas buys mainly, or from clubs who need to sell, or both"

and if 15m quid is what McCarthy is valued at and if Maloney is only marginally better than Hoolahan - who has just had the quality of players around him upgraded - I think you more back up my point than refute it.

  5. Oh for an edit button ...

" I''d stick to baseball mate if you think we will get better than James McCarthy. In fact he is so highly rated that my suggestion is actually ridiculously unrealistic - considering Spurs and Everton are said to be offering £15m"

Then that would be a wasted 15m quid...

We aren''t going to bid on players to only improve a position a little bit, when we buy we are adding serious quality .. which means overseas buys mainly, or from clubs who need to sell, or both.

  7. If we are to expand it''ll be at Carrow Road. It''s big enough to accoodate a 30,000 - 40,000 seat stadium, the issue is where does $25 - $35m come from?

IMO we''ll see some alternative means explored to expand access to matchdays - such as video streaming to local theatres with the club revenue sharing.
