  1. I agree with the others. Trent Canary can''t just make an observation on the Forum as if it''s a fact but be vague about it and just leave us all guessing.  Wot about those of us who don''t watch Footballers'' Wives?  Wot are we supposed to make of the ''clues''???  I''ve heard from more than one source recently that some players [moderator - players names removed - sorry] have real problems with Mr W.  Presumably the feelings are mutual. We''ve seen this before.  If Mr W doesn''t like a player, for wotever reason, they suddenly become ''persona non grata'' - or, in simple terms, he won''t select them, whatever the circumstances.  To me, that''s arrogance and if a manager can''t rise above it, he shouldn''t be in charge.  NCFC is bigger than any one person, including (if not especially) the manager.... But, Trent Canary, if on top of all that, you are saying there are other problems behind the scenes - as well as general manager ineptitude, tactical incompetence and pig-headedness - then please be more specific - or don''t make the accusation/observation.  This is all too serious...  We''re 17th in the league and falling.... On the Burley, City......!
  2. Worthington has no alterative but to resign after tonight''s pathetic performance. If not, he must be FIRED.  It''s no good him saying that (as he almost undoubtedly will) that we were all over them in the first half and should have been 2-0 up rather than 4-0 down at HT, and that, in the second half, we were all over them (again) and played really well and that''s why we pulled 2 goals back.... and what a pity we couldn''tplay like that in the first half..... Excuses, excuses.   We''ve heard it all before, Worthy.  The fact is that you cannot get the team to play with passion and commitment for 90 minutes.  This was all too obvious last Saturday against Millwall. No good complaining about penalties being ''placed'' rather than ''ripping the net''.  It''s your bl**dy job to sort this out before they go on the pitch, for God''s sake.. Frankly, you''ve run out of ideas, tactically and strategically, and it''s time for someone else to be given a chance.  So, it''s on your bike, mate.
  3. Frankly, until we get some leadership into the team, we can wave goodbye to automatic promotion next season.  As elder statesman and club/team captain, Fleming has been woefully lacking in leading the team (by word or example). Yesterday, all he seemed to want to do was take it out on Shackle all the time - Jason at least put in some great interventions, one saving a certain goal.  If Fleming discourages the young lads like that, we''re doomed.  Doesn''t he have a mirror in his house??? Time he rode off into the sunset, taking the following with him: 1. ex-Captain Drury - totally out of his depth almost all season, and absoutely clueless about distributing the ball.  If he wants to stay local, Peterborough beckons (Cambridge having gone down the pan...)  2. Holt - enough said. My heart sank as he ran on to the pitch yesterday - and not for the first time.  What does Mr W see in him??? The most memorable moment of his performance yesterday was when he made a really sweet pass - one of the best of the game .....sadly, however, it was to the opposition. Thanks for all the hard running Gary, but time''s up, mate.  3. Francis (another truly pathetic performance yesterday, and no acknowledgement whatever to the loyal supporters after the game... Thanks for nothing, pal) Take the money, Mr W - whatever you''re offered.  4. Svensson.  Nice bloke - but almost as many air shots for headers over the season as I have in a round of golf...  I''m assuming Bentley will take himself back to Arsenal where he''ll be lucky to be on the reserves bench...how many times has he either over- or under-hit crosses and corners this season?  It''s his job, for God''s sake - at £8,000 a week, too.  So, farewell, Mr One Trick Wonder...  In their place, bring in a couple of wise old heads who will inspire the defence and absolutely refuse to let us defend too deeply.  I go back far enough to remember the great Barry Butler at his best.  Oh, for someone anywhere near his leadership qualities.  Anyone got any ideas where we might look?

  5. Old enough to have a scrapbook (all my own work) and programmes from the glorious ''59-60 cup run. Seems to make me the oldest so far... Now - that team picked itself - we didn''t need youthful armchair-supported, internet-surfing pundits speculating who should be in and out of the team in those days.... (Perhaps I should have called myself Ron Manager...?) Nethercott or Kennon, Thurlow, Ashman, McCrohan, Butler, Crowe, Crossan, Allcock, Bly, Hill, Brennan. Heroes all. Happy days.
  6. ... and if you look at the replay, it''s clear that Giggs could easily have run round Helveg''s leg if he wanted to. It was sticking out a mile for at least half an hour before Giggs deliberately ran into it..... Only Ronaldo tumbled better than Giggs on Saturday. If I were Sir Smart Alec, I''d be worried about that boy''s sense of balance, let alone his hair-do. Helveg was OK in my books, but he should save his pirouetting and dance routines for off the pitch. (By the way, there''s no truth in the rumour that Helveg was disappointed not to see 9.5 for style on the ref''s yellow card when he waved it at him...)
  7. Generally agree. Was lucky enough to be at Old T on Sat. Holt ran his sox off but can''t seem to distribute for luv or money. I really begin to wonder if he''s going to make the grade. Sad because he was a rock last year but, in the Premiership, sentiment equals ''nul points''. I say give him one last chance on Wed against the coal merchants, just to see if he''s up to it, but we can''t have him handing the ball to anyone in the Arsenal team the way he did on Sat at Man U - do that, and it''ll be a goal every time - witness their destruction of M''bro yesterday. Scotland may play that way, but we mustn''t. Svennson was just not goal hungry at Old T. I SWEAR Leon would have put Hucks'' cross away. He''s a least half a yard faster and wants to spread the net every time he''s near the goal. Mr W gave him a full 14 mins this time (only 8 against C Palace). I wrote last week to drum up support for Leon and most seemed to agree. Must get Mr W to read our correspondence... We only tried the Hucks/Leon duo once from the start last season and I agree it wasn''t too good. They missed a big man up with them. Jonson looked good in the air against C Palace - could always consider that option? So, this would mean 1. Green (what a series of saves on Sat - fearless and commanding; what more can we ask for?) 2. Helveg (no repeats of the sugar plum fairy dance, please - effective, but costly at one yellow card per pirouette) 3. Phlegming (must see the doc...) 4. Charlton (looking dependable) 5. Drury (I still think he''s not played so well since he became captain a season ago - and he''s the most silent football leader I''ve ever seen/not heard on a pitch... Would take the armband away and get him to practise bringing the ball upfield and putting in some crosses) 6. Mcveigh (after 5 iffy minutes, the boy did exceptionally well on Sat, not just with the goal but also some great tackling back and distribution. A ''must begin'' on this form) 7. Francis (let''s be honest - not great on skill but guts, guts guts all the way through him, like Yarmouth rock - he just wants to be in the action) 8. Holt (see above - drinking in the last chance saloon? Remember, Gary, it''s a green shirt you''ll be wearing, not a blue one...) 9. Jonson (to see if he can help the HUcks/Leon duo gel - worth a try in the first half on Wed, I feel. Can only assume he suffered a Paula Radcliffe on the day, last Sat) 10. Hucks (gradually raising his game as his fitness improves, but can''t do it alone) 11. Leon (still think he could become our ''wonder poacher'' this year - and not just because he''s read Delia''s chapter on how to cook an egg...) Subs 12. Rolls-Royce (quiet for too long in both matches. Great strike on Sat but needs to get more involved. No good just standing and shouting at his team mates. The way Bergkamp played on Sunday,we could have him for a couple of seasons yet...) 13. Mulryne (hopefully sitting it out on the bench means he''s getting hungry, and I don''t mean for a kebab...) 14. Edworthy
  8. Anyone agree with me that Leon should start up front with Hucks on Saturday, leaving Sven on the bench (or even off it)? If so, let''s hear it, in case Mr Worthington logs on and takes note of our views...
