1. First I''d just like to say that the prospect of next season without PL and Holt, the cornerstones of our success over the past 3 years is pretty sickening. Looking on the bright side, I am sure McNally will ensure a huge pay day for us in regard to PL and hopefully he can also bring in another manager who may be able to reignite Holt''s desire to stay and play for us. Now onto the subject. I am sure I''m fairly near the top of the ST waiting list but have heard nothing from the club. Does anybody have any solid news on what is happening? i.e. how many people did not renew and whether they are going to be offered to those on the list?
2.
rich60snake wrote: " it still amazes me how thickle Norwich fans can be." Thickle? My mate who had a lisp used to use one of those in his garden when the weeds got out of hand!
Don''t you see what he''s done there? He''s combined the words ''thick'' and ''fickle'' to say that Norwich fans are both but he saved on some typing time. Its a bit like the word ''Chillaxing''. Good huh? Or maybe he is signing for Reading just like Holt ;o)
3. If its 2-1 then its bet £1 to win £2 (return is £3). But if its decimal odds of 2, such as you see on sites like Betfair, that includes your stake and is equivalent to evens or 1-1. When people talk about odds getting longer they mean the odds going up. i.e. 2-1 changes to 5-1, so your return is higher if you win. If odds shorten your potential profit is less. Fancy a game of Poker?
4. I had an idea about this while watching the Champions League final. Often, extra time can be quite tedious as nobody wants to risk losing it at that stage. So most of the time, they play for penalties. So what if one team did have to go for it in that period? My suggestion is that if its still even at the end of extra time, the match goes to the team who last led the match. I think this is fair as taking the lead is generally tougher than equalising. I say that because both teams are generally more cagey when the scores are level, just like they are in extra time. So this is a reward for successful attacking play. In extra time, one side knows they will lose if they do not go all out for a goal so they will throw everything at it in extra time and provide an entertaining spectacle.
5. I think it was March last year. Just before I moved back to the area having been away for a while.
6.
Mcnally said in last Sundays programme that only a handful of season tciket holders hadn''t renewed!   It is possible that with the 800 increase in capacity due to a stand being put in front of the Hotel that more season tickets will become available although only at top prices!
I''m pretty sure the cap remains at 22,000 even if they put in extra seats. But I think I''m around 200 on the list so remain hopeful. Depends how big a ''handful'' is I guess!
7. I very much doubt there is a 100% renewal rate. There must be a few people who have to move away or can''t afford it or whatever?
8. Quite frankly, you are wrong. Lambert alters his team and formation to give us the best chance he sees of us winning the game. Quite often this has meant playing 1 up front for the first hour or so. It is pretty common consensus that Morison is better than Holt in the lone forward role as it is said he works the channels better. So of course, if the manager feels we should start 1 up front, then Holt will have to start on the bench in a lot of those games. When we play 2 up front I would agree that a fit Holt should always start given our current strikers. I can''t think of many occassions when we have started 2 up front and Holt has not been 1 of them. Personally I feel that when Holt plays he galvanises the team. Everybody has a belief when he is on the field. That includes both fans and players. Sometimes if we can stay tight for 60 minutes and then bring on Holt, it gives us a huge lift and you just know that something is going to happen for us. Think of the Liverpool game to name just 1. So it can sometimes be good for him coming off the bench. Some have suggested that Holt would have scored more goals had he started every game. Even suggesting that it cost Holt a place in the England squad. Maybe so, maybe not. He could have scored less. Rotating the squad to some extent may have kept him fresh enough to do what he did when he did play. No doubt he has been brilliant for us but I would tend to credit the manager for some of that. If Holts reason for handing in a transfer request is because he wants to start every game and get an England call up, I think that is very foolish. I can''t think of 1 team in the Premiership where he would start every match. He would be lucky to find a team where he starts more than he did for us this year. Maybe he might start a few more games at a Reading or Southampton. But what happens when their manager''s go 1 up front? Is Holt going to be picked ahead of Rickie Lambert for example? Every player has to come off the bench sometimes and our Grant is no exception. I doubt this is the reason for his transfer request as I don''t think Grant can argue with the manager over how well he has done this season or how well the team has done with and without him starting. He has never been seen to be annoyed on the bench. It just seems to have spurred him on when he gets back on the pitch.
9. Now the final season ticket renewal deadline has passed, does anybody know how many tickets were not renewed? I guess they will be offered for sale to those on the waiting list pretty soon. Anybody on the waiting list heard from the club or know when they are likely to?
10. I think that just worries me more that other people have come to the same conclusion :o(
11.

"He wasn''t forced to give that quote, so why categorically suggest that he would be here at the start of next season then ask for a transfer 3days later?" Because something happened in the interim, which I would suggest is Lambert sitting down with each player and explaining where he sees them in the grand scheme of things next season We know that five were told they weren''t to be retained So perhaps what was told to Grant Holt was that there would be one or two more strikers coming in, which would naturally reduce his role ........ and importantly, reduce his potential to other clubs a season or so down the line So he has decided to jump now whilst he is still a ''hot property'' I suspect the Lambert has responded by saying he is needed, as he is wanted as part of that continuous transforming of the squad - as much as players like Drury and Lappin have been. Which may have come as a harsh blow seeing as he has now reached the pinnacle of his career, only to be told, well that actually was the pinnacle and it''s pretty much downhill from here. England prospect to second fuddle at City in a matter of a day or so what might you do ?
City1st, I think you are probably on the button here, more so than others.  It is a reaction to Lambert explaining to Holt in his 1-2-1 that new strikers would be brought in and Holt figuring out he would have to move to the back burner more often next season, so if nothing else is seeking to raise his basic salary as his bonus capability will be much reduced.  But what do I know.....
I can''t imagine Lambert sitting down with Holt and telling him he will play less next season. Why would he say that to our best striker? Especially when we are yet to sign anybody else. And even if PL did do such a crazy thing, do you really think Holty would be worried? Did Morison worry him? Or did Holty rise up and make Morison look pretty poor in comparison? I don''t think Grant would be at all worried unless he was told we''ve signed Rooney and Aguero. The type of good championship striker we are likely to sign would hold no worries to Holty. The theory others have had about him wanting a big paying contract for the last few years of his career makes more sense. But really? Would he really make a snap decision like that just a couple of days after quotes indicating he was fully intending to be here come next season? For me, the only thing that makes sense, and the only thing I can think would make Holty suddenly put in a transfer request, would be the news that Lambert is no longer going to be his manager. I truely wish that I am very much wrong and that both are here come next season. However, this does not bode well.
12. Difficult period? No more difficult than anything we have experienced all ready. For those of you who have not noticed, we have not gone 5 league games this season without a win. Tomorrow is our 5th since our last league win and so 3 points is GUARANTEED! ;o) Last time we went 4 games without a win, we played QPR :o) 39 points and safety come Sunday morning. Don''t anybody worry!
13. I''ve PM''d you too. If you''ve not got it email me at captncanary@btinternet.com as I would really like your spare ticket. Thanks
14.
Had you thought about how you''re going to get tickets ?
Just what I was about to say. You have got tickets haven''t you? You do realise we sell out every week?
15. No takers then? Pair of tickets for the Jarrold stand are still available if anybody wants them. To be collected asap from development opposite Roundwell Medical Centre on Dereham Rd. Give me a call on 01603 594820 if you want them. Shame to see them go to waste.
16. I am expecting to have a pair of tickets to see Norwich vs Arsenal reserves at Carrow rd tomorrow evening but am probably not going to attend. If you are interested and can collect the tickets from Costessey area at short notice tomorrow, please register your interest in this thread and I shall let you know as soon as I can if the tickets are available. I shall give priority to soonest posters but tomorrow it may come down to who can get to my house soonest to collect the tickets as I wouldn''t want them going to waste.
17. I think you are right that Spurs won''t want Lambert, but they might want Moyes. And then who will Everton want to get in? Remember Mike Walker? I must say it could become a worry. But it all comes down to whether Lambert would consider leaving us doesn''t it. Hopefully he wants to stay put for a couple of years at least.
18. Sopcast is fine. I would get it direct from the official site though. But the Firstrow link is showing Leicester vs Swindon.
19. Robert & Roberta Stephen & Stephanie Wayne & Waynetta
20. The Castle Gates just up the hill a bit from the Murderers is good for watching sport. Plenty of screens and its all open plan so you always get a good view of a screen even when its busy.
21. How about putting bigger windows in the hotel rooms and call them executive boxes? ;o)
22. I thought that when we agreed to the Hotel, we negotiated a deal where we were not at financial risk but would share in any profits made. I may be entirely wrong but thats what I thought I heard when the hotel got built. Anybody know more about this?
23.

with turnover sharply up from £16.7m to £23m.
PC, how much was the TV money compared with the season before in League One?
lappin, the accounts don''t exactly specify, but if - as I suspect - the relevant figures are those that come under income from the FA and the league, then TV money was roughly £1.6m in League One and £5.5m this last year in the Championship. Of course the next accounts will show a quantum leap.
Thanks Purple, I had a £4m figure in the back of my mind so about right. So, if we remove the £5.5m from the £23m turnover then add the £40m from the Prem, the next accounts should show a turnover in excess of £57m. If my mathematics are correct, McNally''s bonus is chickenfeed by comparison.
Comrade Lapdog, How many goals did McNally score for us last season? BTW I think they have already said that turnover for this season (2011 -12) will be over £60m.
It seems pretty unfair to ask how many McNally has scored for us. I think its bl00dy impressive that he has 1 assist to his name to be honest! I''m sure many will remember the quick throw that I''m on about.
24.
I think there is some misunderstanding here The ruling has - "The court said while she was entitled to use the decoder she would not be allowed to show matches at cheaper rates than BSkyB charges commercial premises in the UK on copyright grounds. Such a transmission should be regarded as a “communication to the public” and therefore the claimant would need the permission of the FA Premier League otherwise she was in beach of copyright." My understanding is that the dispute arose not because the pub in question was showing live Saturday football, but that it was using a cheaper source outside of the ''pubs region; - as laid down and enforced by the Premier League. So whilst the ruling allows pubs to use sources from outside their area it will still mean they have to pay the high cost, as before. If pubs were not willing to pay the original high costs it will interesting to see if they will after this ruling - or perhaps take the risk and use a cheaper supplier. As far as ''non brodcasting'' goes it does mean that fans can use a cheaper sorce for games in their own homes.
I don''t think this gives the full story and I think it still remains for the British High Court to make a ruling based upon the ECJ guidance just given. It sounds to me like its OK for pubs to use foreign suppliers. I don''t see anything about minimum prices so I''m not sure where you have read that. Also, Sky do not even offer the service that allows all games to be broadcast live so how can you compare the price? It seems to me that the big issue comes in with copyright if the foreign provider broadcasts any copyrighted music or logos. Sky may well sell their feeds in future with an imbedded logo. If the Sky contract requires that the footage is broadcast without modification (if that is allowed by the law) it would then indirectly make it illegal for foreign providers to broadcast in the UK as it would put them in breach of copyright. I am sure Sky will come up with a way around this ruling. With no more season tickets available, I''m just going to enjoy the live broadcasts while I can.
25. I think its the same reason that ref''s think nothing of awarding a penalty or red card against us. They sub-consciously expect us to lose and just think they are contributing to making things ''as they should be''. Hopefully if we can stay in the top half after 10-15 games we shall start getting some respect and the ref''s might be a bit fairer than they were for our first 4 games.
