  1. What do people think? Will he sign for us on a permanent basis and become a legend, albiet within the modest City set up? Or will he finish his loan spell, go back to Spurs, play fairly well, get sold to a soon to be relegated club, get signed by the Champions of Europe and then be Man of the Match in a high profile Champions'' League game?
  2. After failing to find his form in the Championship, Ashton auditions for the WWF.
  3. To be fair to Crazy Eddie, the grammar and syntax of the letter is poor. This is not an issue about education/class/dyslexia.  Every computer has a spelling and grammar check installed, so there is no need for these sorts of mistakes. It is important, if you are to present this letter to Mr. Munby, that everything has been done to ensure he gives it his full attention.  A letter full of mistakes will be less effective than a clear, concise and accurate document.
  4. There is no way in the world that Davenport will replace Fleming.  If I have learnt anything else from Worthington (and I haven''t) it''s that he will never replace his precious ''O Captain My Captain''.  If anything Davenport will replace Shack or sit on the bench. I would like to see a Shack/Davenport partnership to see how they work together, but I think it may be a touch inexperienced.  Davenport is an excellent player, but it is difficult to see where he would lie in Worthy''s plans.
  5. Away against Everton last year - he was awesome. Admittedly he is inconsistent, but he has had his moments.
  6. Genuinely. Is Louis Jean back yet?  How about Thorne? I know that Huckerby (suspended), McKenzie and Ashton will be out, and it may be too soon for Hughes I would have thought.  Any others won''t be fit for Sat?
  7. I''m glad it fell through!  I think I''d rather have Doherty at the back. But not Fleming...
  8. Unfortunately, I have been unable to attend any games this season (can''t wait until Plymouth). Watched the goals from last night on Sky Sports News this morning - Jurgen Colin was either nowhere, or looked way out of his depth for all 3 of them. What the story?  How has he been playing since replacing Louis Jean?  From what I have seen of him he looks terrible.
  9. Mark my words - if we do not get more quality in defense and midfield, we will not win this league, and we will struggle to even reach the playoffs.  Even if we have 1970 Pele and 1986 Maradonna up front, it wouldn''t do us too much good while having Old Man Fleming and Donkerty at the back.  Are we going to start playing like Keegan, and trying to win games 4-3?  Additionally, how many times does Worthington have to play Simon Charlton in a midfield role before he realises that we need another defensive midfielder?  But no, he goes out and buys another stiker. It is ridiculous.  What a waste of the 1.5m we got for Francis.  But it is done now, and surely the only way to rectify things is to sell one of our current strikers and invest in other areas of the team. Remember when we had Fortress Carrow Road?
  10. Perversely, now Morrision is on his way to us, I think I would prefer Deano to go. If he leaves for around 7 mil and we are able to get a really strong centre back and a midfielder in for around 2 mil each, I would be happier than with Deano staying put.  I think that would be the most secure outcome, rather than having the best strikeforce in the Championship by a million miles, but a featherweight defence.  Playing the percentages makes more sense to me, rather than putting all our eggs in one basket. Yes, I''ll be disappointed to see Ashton go, but, unfortunately, that now seems the only sensible outcome.

  12. "Northern Irish football manager with severe side parting and slanted jaw.  Enjoys phrases such as ''It''s game on'', ''absolutely magnificent'', and ''all credit to''.  Has a laidback and pragmatic personality which can be mistaken as apathy.  Likes: playing down transfer speculation, being in the Premiership, picking old central defensive carthorse liabilities.  Dislikes: controversy, excitement, young upstarts booting the ball away declaring ''Ave it!''"
  13. Drury at right back?  Hucks on the right wing?
  14. Doc will be a defensive dynamo next season.  He has come back from the summer break having lost a stone and apparently looks excellent. Mark my words - Ginger Pele will rule the Fizzy League.
  15. SF - your maths aren''t particulary sound - you have included freed up wages in accumulating the estimated amount, but not taken into accound new player wages.  Also, a £500k transfer kitty seems optimistic, especially since Worthy has stated the need to ''raise some money''. Unforunately at this stage it seems that unless we sell Francis and/or Green, our summer transfer expenditure will not exeed around £700k.  Which shouldn''t be too much of a surprise, we were told 7 months ago that part of Ashton''s transfer would be covered by parachute payments. Agreed, we are not in Dire Straights (although since purchasing Jonson and Doherty, Worthy must be familiar with their song ''Money for Nothing'') but we have to be realistic.  We need a couple more frees and a couple of bargains to flesh the squad out - but the backbone of the team remains very strong.
  16. Oops - Not a boyfriend for me - that came out wrong... "You see the game last week?  Heck of a game... Heck of a game..."
  17. Can''t make it - if anyone''s going, can they ask Miranda if she has a boyfriend for me please...
  18. Sorry - sent it too early!  I was demonstrating how feeble our squad is.  The first line up should be the first team, the second line up represented the poor reserve situation.  What if Louis Jean gets injured for example? All I can think of is that Worthy is waiting for the Francis money to get some half decent players bought.

  20. How about: Ooooooooooooh Peter Thorne is magic He wears a magic hat And when he came to Carrow Road He said I’m having that He’s deadlier than Ashton And Makes McKenzie cry And when Worthington signed him We all had to question why.   A bit harsh.  How about to ‘House of Fun’ by Madness:   “We all love you, Dean Ashton Now you’ve come of age We all love you, Dean Ashton A goal is on its way We all love you Dean Ashton.   Or, to the tune of ‘Silly Love Songs’ by Wings
  21. I find the opinion of people on this subject quite perplexing.  Football is a free market - how can anyone cap fees?  That''s like saying that a millionaire shouldn''t be able to buy a speedboat if he wanted one, because it is unfair on people like us who can''t afford it. If Mourinho feels that Ronaldinho would add to the Chelsea team (he''s the manager, that''s his job), and Roman is happy to pay for it (he''s the owner, that''s his job), then who are we to say anything?  The general consensus on this board is that they will not do very well next season anyway, so, if that is that case, they are making a very expensive mistake, let them get on with it. Abramovich linked up with Chelsea with the sole ambition of ploughing money into the club and winning things.  How can FIFA then turn round and say "Oh, sorry, we''ve changed the rules and now there are caps on player costings, so Charlton could afford Ronaldinho if they wanted."  You can''t change the rules in the middle of the game. Even if this did happen, Ronaldinho would still go to Chelsea as they are more of an attractive outfit and can offer bigger wages, so what would a capping achieve anyway? Much bigger, much more extravagant deals are done every day in the city, but they are not made public in the way football transfers are.  It is just simple business.
  22. The best I have seen Jonson play by far was away to Portsmouth, when he filled in for the dismissed Eddie at right back.  He was awesome, worked tirelessly - nothing got past him. Has anyone noticed we only have one right back at the club?  Hmmmm.
  23. Does anyone know if one of these will be produced?  If so, would anyone buy it!? I''m just considering whether I would like it next to "Worthy Champions" on my shelf, or whether it would just annoy me and spoil the memories of last year''s achivements.
