  1. mmm? Nicky Bailey is a cockerney...so if he likes being near London then Ipsh*t (he could live in Essex like 80% of London footballers) has its merits.

The "where you live" is a major factor in where you play for pro''s.

Saying that he could hate London and want the beautiful life in that fine city 120 miles away from this dirty sh*te hole!

  2. Not quite a professional team although half of the players were paid pro''s...but had 3 trials for Sittingbourne during the late 80''s. Being fast as f**k did me well in the lower in Saturday/Sunday footy, but I was seriously lacking in my "all-round play" to even make semi pro. Played upfront in a friendly against Dulwich hamlet and was marked by Paul Elliott’s brother...my 20 yards in **seconds didn’t get me anywhere...found it hard to even walk for weeks after.

Not making the grade at any decent level of footy coincided with the boom of acid-house/warehouse parties/great days of hedonism, so probably so for the best I had my weekends free. Nearly 20 years in the music industry has served me well. “Sliding doors”and all that. ;0)

  3. Born in Norwich (in my Gran''s house!) but moved to SE London when I was 8. Have never EVER considered switching to any my local cockerney teams (Arse, Millwall, CAFC, palarse, yids, etc)...EVER! even when I was getting serious digs for it as a school kid with a Norfolk accent.

Sadly my Norfolk accent is long gone and I sound like a chirpy cockerney w**nker! never mind...at least my blood runs yella & green.

its very hard to take when I get the funny looks when signing OTBC/etc in my accent and i get the strangest looks and when were in the Prem was even called "glory hunter"! the irony Oh the irony!

..if they only know the half of it!

...so no I dont support my local team...but I "feel" do really.

  4. You can’t always rate a short term loan player in the same way as a signed player as I believe they rarely give 100% especially when they have temporarily dropped a league or 2. Plus add the fact he was us under a widely disliked manager and its makes it even hard to judge him.

…but, he looked ok in a pretty shaky team. Fast and technically gifted although he was guilty of the odd lapse of concentration and his positional sense as a full but was strange at times (his centre back positioning looked a lot better). He was defo a centre back…and surprisingly strong considering he didn’t look that big.

He’s either going to fulfil his earlier promise (you rarely get a long run in the England youth set up if you’ve got now’t to offer), or he’s sliding down the rocky road to the conference as know one knows yet (although a few on here have (as they frequently do) decided his fate already? They must have a crystal ball or two, or live in a caravan or somethin’)?…I hope it’s the former for his and the O’s sake!

I have to add of all the games I went to last season I was most impressed with the “feel” of Brisbane Rd as it reminded my of football when I was a kid, its definitely had a charm. So if I get a chance and cant make a NCFC game I’ll try and pop up for a game as its only up the road from me…if only to p*ss of my Millwall/Chartlon/Arse/srpurs/Cheski mates a bit.  [:D]

Good luck for next season fella.

[quote user="Adam"]Very good signing for you boys, in his 4 years here he has been a good performer for us until Coleman took over. Coleman does not like Centre halves who like to play the ball out from the back he likes his big strong cloggers at the back. Are Norwich a passing side ? If so he will fit into your system very well as his comfortability on the ball is one of his main strengths. Elliot is definatley a top class centre back in this division and on his day he is one of the best. He does has a few weight/fitness issues but it''s nothing a good pre season can''t sort out. He definately has the potential to play in the premier league in my opinion.

    Strengths
    Very good on the ball.
    Clean tackler of the ball
    Very good in the air
Good communicator, leads the defense well - potential to be a captain in the future.

    Weaknesses
    Not the quickest
    Can on the occassion overplay
Makes a couple of bad mistakes a season

On the whole a VERY good signing for you.

I''m not sure if that is a genuine English word but if it isn''t it is so good it should be.......................

Nowt to do with footy...but ...I still laugh at remembering a Samual L jackson interview i heard on the radio when he was describing a film he was in (cant remember the film but he was in the water a lot) - he said "I was in the water a long time and there was a high level of uncomfterbility"  (please say it in his 70''s pimp accent and you''ll see the funny side).

I''ve used the word every since! "its a keeper!"
