  1. I wish the guy no ill-ill whatsoever, but from a footy point of view, always thought of him as bog-standard. Dont think we''ll miss him one bit.
  2. I''m sure Tumbleweed is big enough and ugly enough to look after himself, but I would like to post in his defence anyhoo. When I saw the wages/income stats the other day, I was utterly amazed that a board constantly peddling the ''prudence with ambition'' mantra could take such a ''calculated risk.'' Alright, so it paid off handsomely, but as someone else in the thread rightly pointed out, what would have been the consequences had this ''gamble'' - er, I mean ''calculated risk'' - not come up trumps? Regardless of the rights and wrongs of what the board did, who can''t say that they weren''t even a teensy bit surprised at that report? Lets imagine for a moment that the board had approached the fans with their plan - sign Huckerby and, yep, we have a cracking chance of getting promoted, but should we not, then financial meltdown awaits. It''s a no brainer. I''d rather have a football club. I thought when we signed Huckerby we could actually afford to do so - but perhaps we couldn''t? Or maybe we could? Matron, my medicine please....
  3. Agree with nolegs on this one. McVeigh has never threatened to be good enough for us in the Premiership - a bit tubby, a bit skilful, a bit lazy...... just too much of a temperamental luxury player for me. I think it would benefit both club and player if Mr McVeigh were to search for pastures new.
  4. Is Henderson that bad? Well, I don''t think he is. Get fit soon Hendo, and prove the doubters wrong.   What a pointless, spiteful thread. The guy plays for Norwich, not Ipswich, people!
  5. Robbie Savage. A narky little kicker with no apparent skill at all. Lovely hair though.
  6. Yep, I cant see Crouch coming either. Who Worthy wants and who Worthy gets are two totally different propositions - also, £1.2m on a striker is all well and good, but with Premiership wages to fork out too....... I for one am not getting my hopes up regarding signings in January in the same way I did pre-season!
  7. Just been perusing the official City website message board, and someone has said that Worthington has publicly stated (Broadland 102) that he''s interested in signing Darren Bent. Can anyone else confirm this? I''d eat my trousers if a) we have enough money to buy him, b) he was interested in coming here and c) Town were prepared to sell to the enemy (I can think of an e,f,g,h, i etc why else he wont come here too!) Did anyone else hear this interview? Or is it garbage?
  8. Seems a little paradoxical that our back four (especially Flem and Charlton) have been getting some really positive reviews, yet our ''goals against'' column is looking a tad hefty! Cant see Worthy dropping either of our centre backs, but I totally agree that the lack of a clonking great defender may have cost us points of late, and leaves us looking vulnerable from set pieces (was it me, or did Sibierwski win EVERY header he went for???). Its  a conundrum alright. Poor old Nige. Who''d be a manger eh?
  9. I think Blake is a very handy player, and would be a decent, realistic buy. Isn''t he supposed to be a bit temperamental tho - and a little old? Seems to have been around for a while now.
  10. Sorry if this topic has been chewed to death already, but i''m sure I saw Neil Doncaster sitting next to Tord Grip at the Fulham - Arsenal game (Match of the Day on Saturday) - couldn''t for the life of me figure out the whys, whos and wherefores of why he would be there! Any suppositions or conclusions drawn previously from anyone on the learned Pinkun board? Like I said, sorry if this has been flogged to death already....!
  11. For what it''s worth, I too noticed this Brum. Dont know what the thinking is behind it?
  12. Will be interesting to see where Worthy deploys him. From my memory he has nicked a few goals for Spurs in the past, and is solid and imposing in the air. What with Mr Santini chucking wads of cash at bog standard foriegners left right and centre, White ''Art Lane was always going to be a place to pick up a bargain. He may have had a wobbly moment or two in the past, but these are the facts - a 24 yr old current Rep of Ireland international equally at home or up front. Versitility will be key for us this season. Looks another cracking addition to me.
  13. Very heavily linked with him on Sky - we are quoted as favourites to sign him. Maybe Worthy is going for a quick and skilful as opposed to tradititional English - type front man to keep us in the Prem? Johansson always looked a very handy player to me, and with the amount of arse licking Worthy has done re; "Doing it the Charlton way" of late, we may get him for a snip. I for one am excited about the prospect of signing him!
  14. Probably because they''ve lost some bloke called Larsson. But Sutton would be a peach of a signing Pedro, agree with you on that one!!
  15. Believe it or not, Giovani di Stefano is Saddam Hussein''s defence lawyer (saw this on BBC News.) Personally, i''m quite relieved Ms Smith is in charge of Norwich City Football Club. Comments anyone?
  16. Exactly the kind of comment Worthington will use to motivate the team. Realistically, we WILL be regarded as easy points by most of the Premiership, along with Palace and West Brom also. Quite frankly, I couldn''t care less how the other clubs regard us - games are not won and lost on opinions, but rather the ins and outs of a highly unpredictable 90 minutes. It was great to be leading the table for so long last year, when for the most part our spirit and endeavour were acknowledged in a positive way. Next year is a whole new ball game - now a little fish in a big pond, its important to stay focussed on US, not the opposition, and if we''re good enough we''ll be in the Premiership come the end of May ''05.
  17. Where DO the papers get these stories from? Surely they dont just make them up??!??! I agree with you Archie, i''d be very surprised if we offered Poyet £10k per week to play for us.
  18. I''m with you, Tuffnel and Jumpers. Not a fan - cant quite put my finger on why, just think they''re a bit naff.
  19. Very well put Steve. IMHO YC comes across as bit patronising sometimes, and his posts always seem to get a bit bogged down with him apologising and defending himself the whole time. Which would perhaps should suggest to him something about the content of the aforementioned posts. No-one else chooses to come on here and upset the apple-cart by deliberately trying to upset people, which is, lets face it, exactly what YC wanted to do. Personally, i''d rather talk about footy!!!! YC obviously likes his notoriety. I like his posts alot more when he tells us his opinions on Norwich and football in general. And, like most other people on here, i''m very proud of Norwich, and in particular, their football team!!!!!
  20. Flip. Hadn''t thought of that, Wiz. Now i''m cacking it that we may lose the mighty Greeno! Out of interest, how much do you reckon would constitue a big enough wad of cash?
  21. Sunday Mirror reports we''ve agreed to sign Crouch for £1.5m. PS Great to see Roberts sign off with a double today.
  22. Report on SkySports News confirms that Lee''s contract has been terminated. I''m not worried by this one bit - we a very focussed at the moment and I excpect us to beat Walsall on Saturday.
  23. I think it''s important that Worthington addresses the fans directly on matters like this. Indignant fans (probably the moaners) can say we were awful, there was a lack of passion, we should beat Gillingham at a canter blah blah blah, but I think the facts speak for themselves here. We are in(lets face it) an astonishingly good position given the extent of most City fans pre-season expectations - just what have this table topping, verge of the Premiership against all odds side done to deserve moaning and booing? I dont see anything wrong with the manager of our side asking maximum support for the last few crucial home games of the season. Put yourself in Worthy''s shoes - wouldnt YOU be hacked off if the moaners don''t cork it when we''re top of the league?????! I think that ANY Norwich side needs and deserves unconditional support - I just wish I could understand the mentality of a "fan" who seems to think that criticism at any time is going to help the players.
  24. Pardon me for sounding ignorant, but wouldn''t we be obliged to cough up a percentage of his wages while he was here? He must be on £40k - £50k a week at Chelsea - whichever way I look at this one, it looks mighty unlikely. Still, just goes to show the level of enthusiasm and optimism rife at Carrow Road at the moment if a thread like this doesn''t have everyone laughing like a drain. Long may that continue!
