1. BBC transfer gossip suggests this chap IS off to Watford, not us.
 2.

I think this post makes for horribly uncomfortable reading tbh. Wind up or no wind up, there are quite a few salient points raised here - ie the appointment of a manger with no experience at all (and remember, Gunn had shown no inclination towards management before the latest annual NCFC crisis,) mediocre results against what are considered the poorer sides in the division, the board getting precisely what they planned for in the shape of another relegation dogfight. Of course I do not want us to get relegated, and of course I want Gunn to succeed. But hand on heart, I think the board have made the wrong move letting Gunn have the reigns till the seasons end, and if we stay up it''ll be more by luck than judgement. I totally, utterly, unequivocably would love to be proven wrong and be mocked from Costessey to Catton, from Sprowston to Spixworth...time will tell, of course. I''m cacking it about the final few months of the season - I think there is every possibilty we may go down.
...and the award for most idiotic statement of 2009 goes to.... However much you think that the Board are all evil and just want to see the fans suffer I can not imagine that the Board "planned" for us to be in the position we are in now.
Fair enough Delia, poor choice of words perhaps, just a turn of phrase more than anything else.   However, please don''t put words into my mouth -  I never said I think the board are evil and want to see the fans suffer, I just happen to believe that they have made a series of poor choices (be it managerial appointments, lack of investment in the team, lack of ambition - call it what you will, it''s been done to death on here) that have in no small way led us to where we are now. And, I''m sorry, I don''t believe for one minute they didn''t consider that a lack of investment in the playing side would''nt / couldn''t potentially damage the club where it matters - on the pitch. They arer culpable here, make no mistake.

 4. I agree with you, renegade. If we stay up - be it by the skin of our teeth, or in a (please god) blaze of 20-game unbeaten run glory, this will definitely be made permanent imo.
 5. But I don''t think anyone would be surprised if it were made permanent if we stay up?
 6. Good post slater, I agree with an awful lot you have written here. Of course we need to aspire to be the very best we can be, but as you say, at what cost? Any success we have enjoyed over the last few years has been well and truly earnt - how would we react to supporting a team full of mercenaries who had been bankrolled to the top? I not sure I could ever despise NCFC, but I certainly agree that the emotional attachment I feel towards them now (30 years through good and bad) would certainly change - and I can''t honestly say I feel it would be for the better. Interesting times.
 7. Birmingham look a good bet to go up, we don''t at the moment. Can''t see us winning this. A point at best.
 8.

how many times do we here should have would have and could have footballs all about the result . dont know what norwich fans actually want theres a clear divide between fans some like pretty football and no end product . some think its all about results i know what id rather have .
Translation "Hi,Chris again here.I know that my unique mangling of English gives me away every time I pop up with a different username, and I also know that all you regular posters realise that I''m a binner on a wind up,but school doesn''t start for a couple of weeks and its my brother''s turn with my sister,so I thought I''d put another unintelligible post up to kill some time." Clearer now?
LMFAO Priceless.
 9.
Or did she really believe the clubs transfers during the close season were going to impress that much that the whole money issue would be forgotten?
I reckon this may be the correct assumption Ween.
 10.
Apparently he''s cover for the Doc, and he''s Spurs reserve team captain.  Sounds like another bit of shrewd GR business.
Wasn''t Jimmy Smith Chelsea''s reserve team captain? He was hardly the most impressive player to pull on the yellow and green. So many loan signings...how many more can we possibly be allowed?
 11. Agree with Chris. Is he any good - and by that I mean Dean Ashton good?
 12. Could you not get into trouble for posting this sort of information Michael? I certainly appreciate the info, but are you not obliged to keep schtum about who you may have seen behind closed doors? Apologies if this has been asked / answered before!
 13.
Think of the best couple of sides in the Championship next season... you know the ones that you think will give any team ( us included ) a really good game if not beat them. Now think... do they have a £16.5m striker? ... NO                     do they have an attacking player who in his last competitive match scored a hat-trick for Barca? ... NO                     do they have a team with England fringe players / England U21''s in?.... NO                     are they the current holders of the carling cup..... NO         All you have to put it down to is that Spurs are premiership class... and with the signings they have made are going to do VERY well this season. Dont panic about the season, I dont think we have a brilliant side this season but I think we are a far better side than last season.
Dead right. Ok, we got tonked, but Spurs had some awesome players out there last night. I''ll reserve my judgement until we have had a decent bite of the new Championship season before panicking.
 14.

Blimey. As if there aint enough depressing threads about !! [:^)][*-)][:@]
IMO, not depressing at all. Good thread. This gives away my age, but as a very small boy I remember Norwich losing against Luton in the FA Cup semi final replay. I was devastated and here we are 50 years later and we still haven''t made it to the FA Cup final and probably never will.................. unless a life-long Canaries fan with the Club''s best interests at heart and millions to spend comes along and ousts the current regime of no hopers............
Yeah, as if that would EVER happen Wiz.
 15. Time''s running short for your traditional Pink Un message board ''Buy the EDP tomorrow you wouldn''t want to miss this story'' Sunday night post....... Yours, baited breathedly, Bob.
 16.
who are the smiths to judge if a person is fit and proper to run NCFC - surely thats personal opinion and subjective
Really good point made here imo. They are judge and jury, whether we like it or not.
 17. Any possibility this may be a corporate smokescreen, allowing us to do some more transfer business pre-season without getting shafted - with the talks miraculously back ''on'' in a few weeks time? Throw me a bone here people. I feel like i''ve just watched as Santa Claus skipped across the Carrow Road rooftop, only for Delia and Mike to merrily brick up the chimney. I know the real ins and outs of this deal may never be known, but my god, even the most reasonable fan must be feeling a little dejected today, surely?
 18.

Um, guys, I have the tiniest, TINIEST suspicion that Shack is not being entirely serious here...
Well done sherlock!
I do get irony thanks PJB, I think you''ll find some of the other replies were (scarily) perfectly serious...
 19. Um, guys, I have the tiniest, TINIEST suspicion that Shack is not being entirely serious here...
 20.
erm wheres the source??? and surely we could get a replacement for this donkey for a million quid???????
Martin Taylor anyone?
 21.

The EDP will tomorrow (Monday) exclusively reveal sensational news about Norwich City Football Club. In a story that will shock fans and intrigue rivals, the paper will lift the lid on potential investment which could equip the Canaries for a genuine challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
Wake me up when the words "potential" has been removed from that sentence, and "could" has been replaced with "will".
Yes Chops. That word is worrying. I hope this news is not just a tease.
Yep, I''m slightly less euphoric and an awful lot more cautious about this story than I was having read it about three hours ago. There is an awful lot of allusion towards potentials and coulds here, as the other posters have pointed out. I am expecting good news - the kind of news that, if Archant hadn''t run a story on a Sunday using the word ''sensational'', would have had this forum buzzing in a really good way tomorrow morning.  As it stands, I just have a sneaking suspicion that Mr Letdown could pay us a visit tomorrow....
 22. I think this thread is a complete wind-up personally.
 23. I think one of the promoted clubs may well take a punt on Ameobi. I truly believe that not only do we have nowhere near enough money to buy him, but his wages would be completely out of our league anyway.
 24. In my opinion, spending £1m on a player who has played around a dozen professional games is ludicrous. I''d be very suprised if we fork out £1m on any one player this season, let alone one who''s best asset (granted, at this moment in time) is that he has potential. Man Uniteds, Chelseas and Arsenals buy on ''potential''. I''m sure he is a good prospect, but get him at a more realistic price, or on a season long loan.
