  1. These 2 gotta be up there!!
  2. 3 weeks in Adelaide this Nov/Dec for cycling competition. Never been before, although lived in NSW as a kid for a bit. Looking forward to seeing the country again. Great time of year to get away too.
  3. Having a child which you are highly likely never to be around, for their 18th birthday, at least, is just irresponsible and selfish.
  4. ‘Harry no mates’, waving and nodding to ghosts in the cathedral lol The ‘3 cheers for the King’, on the lawn was rather impressive, woke me up around 2 o’ clock….
  5. Not the easiest chairman to work under and the potential of the club to grow is not much more than now, without a big backer.
  6. Enjoyed non league football as much as the big games. Clubs and grounds worth visiting, all serving beer and hot drinks beside the pitch; Kings Lynn Town Beccles Caxton Leiston Gorleston ( old ground sadly gone) Gt Yarmouth( world famous old stand) CBS ( Bowthorpe) Wroxham
  7. Excellent first half from England, very comfortable in possession.
  8. He’ll talk to James English, the rest he should avoid, imo. I can’t see him being comfortable in today’s society, hope I’m wrong.
  9. Idle and clueless, best sums him up! Players can be poor in ability, which he is, but to amble around letting others do his work is shameful.
  10. A great high tempo performance from the team today, Pulki was outstanding in his movement and work rate . Idah needs to start sharing some of that work, he’s being carried. Don’t care about his age, it’s no excuse, Pukki puts twice the shift in.
  11. A lot could be said of some of his ‘ business’ dealing especially within the club, however I can thank him for giving me a very good help in my younger days.
  12. I seem to remember going to the old Den around 1972, both teams riding high and getting beat 1.0.. being a little lad, was upset. A great atmosphere and tough as hell. Walking to the ground I noticed a young group of boys picking up some scaffold poles and hiding them in their clothes! Also remember the small band of City fans behind the goal, taking a few punches and dispersing. However I’ve been several times to the new Den and Wembley with Millwall and they are some of the warmest, friendly people about. All 2nd 3rd generation sons and daughters of the dockers. Shame the old east end and Millwall don’t exist no more, but the spirit is still alive. Enjoy your day out….
  13. I seem to recall it costing 1’9’ for kids and half crown (2s 6 p ) for adults into the Barclay. ….8p and 12.5p This was in 1968, so not that long ago.
  14. Millwall is one of the best football grounds to visit with some of the of friendliest and warmest supporters about. However it was always traditionally a rough house area of dockers - no more- proud of their manor and wouldn’t give an inch to any outsiders taking liberties, in their eyes. If you go down there in a group, wearing Stone Island, then expect a fight, otherwise kids and families should be fine.
  15. Hopefully Idah can show a little form or goals and the club can get a good return on him because he is well short of ever being a premier league player and that’s where we should be setting our standards. The club have financially set him up for life. Hopefully his mindset is that of a Bellamy or Sutton, two truly talented former young strikers, but from his games to date, hasn’t shown anything like their desire and determination, not to mention talent. He frustrates me, as I’m sure he does with anyone who has to try and play along side him. The positions and runs he makes is that of a novice imo I can’t understand how he gets a 5 year contract, he must have a bloody good agent, as he’s shown very little in the shirt!
  16. Bumped into Peter Mendham recently at a very working class restaurant. I haven’t spoken to him for maybe 30 years, we used to know each other through football. What I can say is that he was the same upbeat friendly and polite lad now as he was then, always eager to chat, joke and show a happy side. All he says about his finances sounds true to me. Peter came into football at least 20 years to early, to make any real money. He would have trained/ played with Ted McDougal, Phil Boyer and Martin Peters etc, top players. Martin Peters was the highest paid at the club and that was just £300 per week. All of this era, went back to work after they were finished with football or if very lucky became a manger/ coach but still before the big bucks came. Peter Mendham absolutely wanted to play for Norwich City, he came to them as a young skinny, leggy left winger. He was kicked and bullied in his first trial game, but just picked himself up and carried on, he was tough. I was not surprised that he made the grade, as a pro footballer he was spot on, his off field life didn’t go so well and he’s paid the price.
  17. https://news.sky.com/story/nadhim-zahawi-sacked-as-tory-chairman-over-tax-affairs-row-12793431 Shouldn’t end there. keep digging ……
  18. There’s no need for any modern day footballer to overly build themselves up in the gym, especially young players. Todays game is played on super fast surfaces, with lightweight boots, balls and kit. Muscles need to be conditioned around coordination, quick reflex together with suppleness. When football was a full contact sport and the pitches were heavy mud baths, the elite players were often ‘ skin and bone’, GB as a prime example. Several promising young players have been ruined by the over use of weights and over training in general, resulting in muscle compartment syndrome. Our children, who compete at International level in another sport, do attend a gym, but the exercises are very carefully designed for their age and most certainly not to gain any bulk.

  22. No surprise that Nadhim Zahawi has overlooked a few mill of tax owed. The investigating journalists need to start digging around his dealings abroad and see what turns up. Could start with the murky past arrangements and advice with Gulf Keystone Petroleum, who’s shareholders were almost wiped out of a very profitable company. Politics is riddled with corruption, always has been and always will be.
  23. Good game today, excellent work rate. Thinking that as a Brazilian, he should be all attacking and flair but maybe he’s better suited to a deeper midfield role?
