I seem to remember him playing for Norwich v someone in red strips about 1968, then again on my last game for Gorleston v Wisbeach, when he was the manager. A decent and determined guy. RIP Mal

Strangest football matches
Sheva replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Norwich City playing a good Cambridge United side, Ron Atkinson and John Bond as managers, behind closed doors on a mid week afternoon. It was hardly behind closed doors, as was at somewhere like Catton Rec and ‘ old Fred ‘ and his dog could have walked up and watched! 😂 -
It’s becoming very clear where we’re heading to now and it’s not nice. Time to put aside minor political differences and look at the bigger picture.

Plenty of flamboyant skilful individuals from the 70/80’s era, who weren’t afraid to show it and didn’t throw themselves to the floor at the first opportunity (cheating ****). The game was played by men, didn’t cry, wear alice bands or spend as much time on their goal celebrations as shooting. ‘Hacked down by thugs’ lol, …,, Forbes, Stringer, Hockey, etc…. certainly dished it out, I think of them as City legends. For the hiding Ipswich fans on here, add ‘The Beet’, hard as hell, fantastic athleticism and ability.

A classic match and all modern day football fans should watch, just to understand what completely soft/cheating players we have today. Having spent some time with that Chelsea team, it struck me how mild and polite they were off field. John Dempsey is a true gentleman and worked with handicapped children right into old age. I was chatting about the European Final against Real Madrid which Chelsea won 2.0 with Osgood scoring but couldn’t remember who got the other, it was John but he slow to say! Respect to all of them boys.

She’s gets away with a lot of poor behaviour, doesn’t have my respect.

Chris Woods ranked England's 9th best keeper
Sheva replied to dylanisabaddog's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Without doubt I would say Chris Woods has been Norwich City’s best goalkeeper and I would put him slightly higher in the all England list. Kevin Keelan was a natural talent and very flamboyant at times, similar to Peter Bonetti of Chelsea. The modern goalkeeper has much better ball control and passing, I think the likes of Peter Shilton and maybe Gordon Banks might have struggled in this department. -
An entertainer on the pitch who somehow managed to wriggle around the defenders. Played in a very good QPR team who came to Carrow Rd with a great chance of being league champions. It was Norwich winning 3.2 that saw them missing it by 1 point to Liverpool Another great character lost. RIP Stan.

A fantastic man with a great uplifting personality, proud to have known him over the years. He built the foundations of Norwich City when some doubted his leadership abilities. , HB Kenny

No matter what, the manager and staff should never turn on the supporters, it’s just made his and the teams job 10’s harder. …Bring back the cushions He should try explain himself, give them a bit of old bulls **** etc etc. Delia too, unless they want to be the next Chase, Roeder or Webber, but keep them onside, they will be your 12th man very soon. Might sound harsh but that’s the game, keep the supporters onside at all costs, it’s what comes with the ( well paid ) job and the ones who boo are inevitably the ones who travel far and wide and will be there to the end. It’s always been like this and always will unless you wish for a sterile passive sit on your seats say nothing atmosphere. We need more revolt and protest in general and not just at football matches, get over it !!

NATO predicts war with Russia within 20 years
Sheva replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Non-Football
It’s true the Democrats have for a long period had a big interest in Ukraine and had a substantial amount of their people embedded in its structure. It’s also true that there is ‘ advanced farming’ methods being tested in closed areas and sponsored by western countries. This is very profitable. It’s also true that the war is very profitable for many, Ukraine is highly corrupt at the highest levels and that is a big attraction to many from outside. Whoever does business in Ukraine or receives a position will be corrupted and it’s open. -
NATO predicts war with Russia within 20 years
Sheva replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Non-Football
‘You reap what you sow ‘….There’s not a cat in hells chance the British will ever muster a credible fighting force that is anywhere near that of the past., it’s gone . Generations have been groomed to be woke, passive and non patriotic and now you want fighters! The military can no longer take for granted an endless stream of eager boys from the ‘ Gorbals’ , pit villages or the east end. The ones left with a fight in them, just don’t feel their place of birth is worth fighting for. On the other hand East Europeans, brought up to be men are much tougher in all ways and feel pride in their country, something Putin and co are well aware of. Hopefully enough people realise that we have no fight against Russia but so much in common. Let the globalist fanatics make war and let them sit in the cold stinking ditches with the rats, as are my family and friends in Ukraine, fighting against Russia. It’s corrupt and has been the making of the US and Euro expansionists for many years planned. You might not believe this from outside but believe me it was planned and Ukrainians do what they do best, fight and die. Don’t come back with ‘ Russia invaded first crap’ , we were pushing to their doorstep for years with weapons and major influence to weaken the USSR then Russia. I can give many examples as a lone Brit investor, long before the first brick was thrown in Maiden Square. Russia is not an evil empire, it has culture and history, ( and massive resources) it has such great ties with Ukraine, the west has almost zero. They need to exist together and the west needs to put to bed its plans to annihilate Russia, it won’t happen, if we carry on this path towards ‘ inevitable war with Russia’, then we will all suffer like no one can imagine. If I could take you around Ukraine and show witness the horrors, physical and mental, understand the true events which have unfolded over the last 20/30 years, not to have been taken in by all the media propaganda, then like me you would begin to see things differently. Lets start to find a peace and understanding before we walk into a long war which we can’t win, no one can. -

Well he did have his own hairdressers near gas hill for many years. Great laugh, hard full back from Yorkshire. That does look like Neil David’s , signed from Leeds United. -

That’s about right. I was close to a former player of that era, who was on the top money at that time and a contract was only ever for 1 year. He was proud of the fact that he was the only one who owned a car at the club! Like so many ex pros he also suffered from Alzheimer’s and other serious injuries which were never properly cared for. -
Meanwhile Over At Kings Lynn Town FC......
Sheva replied to TIL 1010's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Hopefully works out for the club, although owner by a ‘colourful character’, he does have big knowledge and love of the game. Maybe nows the time to start rebuilding some of the bridges he’s burnt with the supporters. -
Classy defender, able to long pass the ball out of defence very accurately. One of the greats.

Phil And Ted’s Return To Carrow Road
Sheva replied to Midlands Yellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Norwich made a habit of signing ex England forwards like Chivers.….some were well pass it like Peter Osgood, but other such as Joe Royle and Mike Channon did a good job. -
The boys not ready. His crossing was weak and passes often negative . If anyone tells him he did well that’s not doing him any favours. A loan out might work best for him and the club.
-
Do the boo boys believe they are helping our club?
Sheva replied to Rhino1's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Sitting on your hands quietly isn’t going to help, the under achieving players, management and board, they need a ****ing rollicking or this slow demise of the club will continue. Actually it’s not slow is it? It comes from the top and the top doesn’t work, so that needs to change asap. Hopefully this gets resolved in a dignified way and the club can start to move forward again.
