I think Norwich should follow the initiative of the semi pro local clubs and have a ‘ Pay What You Want Day’. That would be interesting 😂 -
I agree that you don’t have to be a world class player to become a top coach, although there many more than you quoted. Locally Alf Ramsey, Bobby Robson, top players top coach. Norwich- Bond, Brown and of course Lambert, were right up there as players. My original point is that you really need to have been in professional football as a player to truly understand what’s possible and to have that inner knowledge which sets the amateur from a professional, otherwise the premier league coaches would be made up of university post graduates of sport.

To many names to go through individually, Ipswich lad we know about and his early injury at Spurs, Lawrie McMenemy wasn’t a full time pro, I think played for Bishop Auckland, an imposing figure ex army. He qualified as a coach alongside some of the greats late 60’s, was a friend of my late father. Had good success at Southampton , ( although was a complete failure at Sunderland on his own) by using experienced older pros, like Alan Ball, Mike Channon etc, who would basically run the team from within. John Bond was like this to, Martin Peters kept things moving from midfield into attack and everything else was kept simple, positive and quick, no over complication and definitely not taking the ball back to the left back position from a good opportunity to attack, as our new modern wonder coaches do! My problem is that the club which I’ve watched in great detail inside and out, over to many years, is now full of ‘ teacher types who think that everything is data, learnt from the book, promoting each other, when football is such a simple game over complicated by ‘ professors’. Same goes for the medical side, players breaking down for the smallest of stress injuries, its barely a contact sport now yet players go missing for weeks.

Wenger played. You don’t have to be world class or even a top player, otherwise Bobby Charlton& Bobby Moore would have been great managers but it definitely helps. Mourinho was smart and learned from a master by being Sir Bobby Robsons translator then adding his own strong personality, which took him a long way. Norwich City owe a lot of their success to another football master in Ron Greenwood, who through the so called ‘West Ham Academy’, taught good pros such as Harry Rednapp, ‘ El Tel’, John Bond, Ken Brown . Bond came to Norwich with Ken Brown and the methods of simple attacking football stayed with the club for many years, right through to Dav Stringer and Mike Walker. Why when the clubs only success has come through true football professionals, do we turn to data sheets, complex unworkable tactic methods, from personal who have never been able to master the techniques which they demand of others? Hilarious 🤣

That doesn’t cut it, you can’t be a tradesman without having been on the tools and you definitely won’t have the respect of the players, ‘ put your medals on the table’…… It’s a major handicap imo.

So we have a board, who never played professional football, who appointed SD( Webber) who never played, who recommended another SD Knapper who never played, who is about to appoint a coach who has never played, who will probably bring an assistant who has never played!, couldn’t ****en make it up 😂

, 2’6 for Barclay adult 1an9 for boys , so about 12&9 new pence, cash on turnstile, with dad boys could be lifted over. -
If Knapper brings in the wrong coach, its ‘Down In The Sewer’, for the next few years.

National Service is just what a large proportion of the youth need and would be a great education for them however……. My teenage children will not be going, they don’t need any self discipline installed into them, they won’t be fighting a globalist war against Russia, which was mainly instigated by the west over the last 30+ years. It’s time to put the useless corrupt politicians ‘ back in their box’, they won’t be fighting they won’t be dying on the battle fields. We have no enemy or problem in Russia that can’t and should have been solved. They are very much like us, and certainly very much like Ukraine. It’s all very bad BS, managed by bad people who care little for the ‘ common man’. They want to announce that we are officially at war in the next few months, the rumour is July/August, it’s time to stand up and tell them How It Will Be!, the people will decide.

Idiot Webber put others at risk by pursuing his selfish dreams. Stick to fell walking in the future,

Should never of been sacked, he wasn’t given enough Finacial support after getting the club promoted and Webber through him under the bus to deflect from his underperforming. He’s head and shoulders over the inexperienced’ football managers’ the club are targeting now. Knapper has it all to prove and looks like a boy out of his depth. Get this next appointment wrong and the future is dire. -
A great breast stroke swimmer from Scotland, the first I can remember. RIP

Congratulations Usyk, great boxer, credit to the sport and your country. Enjoy your well deserved rest, you’re in control now, you’ve won everything and with class.

A characteristic of Ukrainian men, they have a lot of dignity when it comes to fighting. A fights a fight, win lose shake hands and leave, used to be like this in the UK back in the day. The Irish and Ukrainians have a lot In common, both these men already respect each other and would have a great night out!

Slovakian Prime Minister shot in public
Sheva replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Non-Football
Another assassin on its way, then the opposite political view will say ‘ oh dear so sad’. World war is more likely, some say it’s already started. -
So hard to call, Usyk is the better athlete and imo the better boxer but Tyson has the reach, height & heart of a lion. If pushed I’d go with Usyk on points, he’s fighting for his/our country, everyone in Ukraine is aware of this fight, they have fighting in their blood but then so do the gypsies! Can we have a draw and no rematch!, …..2 great fighting men and characters.

Tough but quiet guy, good defender, sad loss at a to young age. RIP

I’ll stand by my previous post of long sentences for anyone carrying a knife or gun( not enough prisons- build more) and those in for minor crimes who are not a public danger , can be released and dealt with by very strong community services- ‘chain gangs’. IMO there is to many excuses made for the reasons of crime, unless strong actions are taken now, more and more Cities and towns will become no go zones. The streets of the UK are now far more dangerous than the likes of Ukraine where the elderly, women and kids travel safely at any time. You can’t now travel on a bus or train in Norwich or Norfolk in safety. Youths are carrying knifes and now moving to guns. That’s where we are and going downhill fast . Islamic extremism is rife, with attacks around the world, western women and children are mainly targeted . It’s just not exceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated in any form.

Anyone carrying a knife, long long prison sentence. Attacking women, children or elderly- put to sleep, like a bad dog. Got a better plan?

Back 2 seats on the coach need to be stacked with 6 packs, then taking in every pub on the way. Essential to get a belly full of beer, for such games, otherwise it’s more than a Sunday day trip ! 1 hour 10 is the going rate for Ippo to Carra Rud, otherwise you must drive like a 🐈 ****.

Striving to make sense of the Ukraine war

I’m getting reports that the war on the front line has become very difficult for Ukraine who just don’t have the ammunition to defend or attack. Thousands of civilians getting killed now, everything is becoming desperate. -

Welcome to the world of Ukraine/Russia, it gets much worse than that. -

Disagree, he’s a discredited journalist who popped up in Kyiv wearing a orange hat ( bit late for that) pushing the anti Russian agenda, rather than the full facts, asking for donations. I guess he got lots of followers/ cash in the early days but is just another western reporter toeing the line of bad Russia/Putin-Good NATO/. Most of this death and destruction could have been avoided if the right diplomats had sat around the table and Talked, but the whole situation was planned many years ago. -

Has Sweeney got out of the first bar In Kyiv yet! He can’t be trusted and is a drunk. -
The biggest difference between players of the 70’s and now is this; 70’ s wanted to stay on their feet, Georgie Best as the prime example, nowadays they can’t fall over quick enough- Jack Greelish style. 70’s player never showed that they were hurt, ‘stitch me up and put me back on’ Terry Butcher style. Norwich had the hardest of hard men in Duncan Forbes, but even the winger Keith Robson loved a tackle and famously went after Tommy Smith throughout one match!
