Ive always thought that rivals drawing their games against each other is the best outcome.. A point doesnt really help either team much, and I''d nearly always prefer both teams to get a point than for one of them to take all 3.. we obviously need to win though to take advantage..

Surman''s through ball to put holt in on goal with about 10 mins left of that forest game was every bit as classy as Lansbury''s ball for Holt''s 2nd against the binners. Excellent player, cant wait til he''s back in the team.  Horses for courses re different types of games, home /away etc but the prospect of  Hooly, Surman, Lansbury and Fox in the midfield is pretty mouthwatering. Bennett would be a useful signing for his pace, but if we''re going to spend serious money on only one player then I think it needs to be on an out and out striker, someone who can net us 7-8 before the end of the season will make all the difference. Our midfield will create enough chances, its just a matter of someone finishing them off..

New manager syndrome shouldnt be underestimated.Their crowd and their players will be well up for this game - so obvious as it sounds, keeping them out for the first 20 mins will be vital. Do that and I think we''ll nick it, 1-0 or 2-1.. I agree that Lambert will start with the team above.

Prudence blar blar blar, but we''re talking here about a couple of million quid tops that won''t put the future of the club at risk but could seriously push us over the finish line into and into the land of milk and honey. The championship is there for the taking THIS season, and I think Lambert/McNally/Bowkett know this - we''re in a very good position and with a couple of ''big'' signings - say Austin and Bennett I honestly believe the way Lambert has the squad performing that we would be very close to the auto spots, and I actually think we''d make the top 2.. From a financial position the play offs wouldn''t be a disaster either, as even if we went out in the semi finals then the revenue from that - 1 x home leg (26,500 tickets @ £30 each =  £800,000 + TV etc would be £1m and probably the same again for reaching Wembley, which would cover the cost of bringing in a couple of players anyway..I honestly believe the club would be making a massive mistake in not ''giving it a go'' and seeing what happens. Most of the snow''s gone in central london - there was a big thaw last night and when i woke up this morning the park opposite that was covered in snow is about 80-90 grass now. Next few days the temps expected to be around the 0c mark but Xmas night is ment to be very cold with a low of -4c so there''s still a chance the pitch might be frozen come Boxing day but Palace are fairly confident and I''d say there''s a 70/30 chance that the game will go ahead..
