  1. What an incredibly weird thing to say. The mistake - if there was one - was not bringing Duffy on early enough. If you can be bothered to trawl back through the match thread you will see that I was the first one to say that we needed to get Duffy on and quick. They were putting us under immense pressure purely from hoof ball and long throwns into the box. Duffy is the most dominant player in the air that we have.Obviously we don't know how serious the calf issue that he was carrying into the game is, and maybe that's why Wagner was reluctant to get him on earlier, but bringing him on was most definitely the right call.
  2. You can also put this thread back up if we miss out by 2 points, but have a superior goal difference to the team who we miss out to........... πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ In reality of course it's a 46 game long season and the result in any one game is no more important than the result in any other. Truth is we've lost a lot of points from winning positions this season, but also gained a lot of points from losing positions. Twas ever thus!
  3. Of course it's 2 points dropped - but in the cold light of day the point that we gained was still a good one.
  4. Yeah, but no but. Hanley, Rowe, Gianoullis, Onel and Sorenson for definite. Duffy for all practical intents and purposes and when Gibbs was injured almost immediately he came on we were missing 6 (or 7 if you include Duffy). Duffy and Hanley are the two best headers of a ball at the club - no surprise at all at how we conceded the two goals.
  5. That we're down to the absolute bare bones and running on fumes - and that it was terrible luck for Gibbs to get injured when he'd only been on for a few minutes.
  6. You're missing my point entirely - it feels like a punch in the guts right now (hell I even said so in my OP) - in the morning it will look a lot better.
  7. The usual histrionic over reaction in the heat of the moment after a match. There's a whole thread further down the board where poster after poster has agreed that tonight's game is a real banana skin. IN THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY!! (Coventry lost by the way - we're one more point further ahead of them than we were this morning).
  8. That's a good point. Feels like a punch in the guts given that we were 2-0 up and couldn't hang on to the lead, but it was always going to be a really difficult game for a whole variety of reasons.
  9. Oh come on - don't start getting silly - Hoggy has just said that he's unsure about Knapper at this point - I am too, but only because he's only been here a few months. Knapper has clearly done some good things since he's been here - by far and away the best of them is keeping faith with Wagner when it would have been the easiest thing in the world to get rid of him. Given our run of form since Knapper made that choice he's been massively vindicated. On the other hand the decision to let Idah go and replace him with Sydney does look like a strange one that hasn't worked out. (and I'm not aftertiming because I said something along those lines at the time).
  10. In this particular instance it isn't VAR which is the problem - it's the actual rule itself which is just plain ridiculous.
  11. It would! It's also the same Leicester who won the FA Cup in 2021!
  12. Why stop there? 19 up 19 down would spread it even more. πŸ˜‰
  13. Exactly. It would be a great boost if Rowe could at least be on the bench at Hillsborough.
  14. Completely agree with the sentiment of the OP. This is a really tough game - they had a really important win on Saturday and will be bang up for it. There's a real danger of 'After the Lord Mayor's Show Syndrome' for us. Add to that the fact that we're basically down to our first eleven plus Fassnacht, Gibbs and Baath and there's a real danger of tiredness creeping into our squad.
  15. I'm sorry, but this is fanciful. The Matos situation has occurred 100% because he is a boyhood Chelsea fan and they have offered him far, far more than we could offer a player of his age - it's nothing at all to do with Tom Dickson-Peters.
  16. Doubly mixed up buyer and seller of red art?
  17. Not into wrestling so I didn't watch - but I assume that Sam Morsy was the winner.
  18. Ah - got it now - Josh called him a Republican. Jeez, that's below the belt.
  19. I agree - it was ridiculous of Sarge to call him "Referee" - as he clearly wasn't fit to be one.
  20. Was going to start a thread about this. It's the most ridiculous rule in football. It was Kenny's header against Leicester which was ridiculously ruled out because Cantwell was supposedly in Schmeichel's line of vision - even though Schmeichel (like the West Ham keeper yesterday) wasn't going to save it in a million years. 6.56 to 7.43 here.
