  1. WO Fans - you have a lot to answer for in the way you put pressure on players and the manager last season when thing were not going well, and just hope now you can give them a chance. The same players virtually who didn''t do so well last season have shown how they can polay when the fans are behind them, the tactics are right and confidence is there. Let''s give them a real chance this season, unite behind the team and I relaly belive this changearound can continue.  Yes,. there is an awful long way to go, but there have been two games in which the performances have been so different. Maybe we have to put last season down as one in which the team just didn''t reach their potential, confidence was undermined, adjustments were made by new players coming in etc, and the unease from the WO fans didn''t help. If all that though has helped to build a platform for a real promotion challenge htis yeaqr, then for goodness sake put an end to this WO crap or the WOs had better get out themselves - because  they are not helping the team one bit. I for one woudl like to give the plyers a chance, as i''ve said before Iwan was iven a horrendous time in this rfirst season, and maybe Etuhu will prove what a player he can be - we don''t help by the rubbish that has been said abou him. Keep it up lads, On the Ball City!!
  2. Reading the account of Lee Croft''s reasons for signing for Norwich he was given a good recommendation by Dickson Etuhu. Good job Dickson hadn''t let some of the nasty jibes at his performances during his first year here upset him, or we might not have got our new signing. Having said that it was also a good job that Iwan hadn''t let the fans treatment of him during his first season unduly affect him or we might never have had the legend stay with us as long as he did. Let''s hope we see more of Saturday''s performance from Dickson and the team, and that the fans can get behind the manager, Board and most of all the players as we start a new season.   ''forgetting what is behind I strive forward to win the prize'' quote from Phillippians(the Bible)
  3. totally agree with you - the man is our manager, this season is behind us now, let''s hope that next will be much more successful. We are much more lkely to see that if we can all get behind the club and give him a fair chance.
  4. I don''t think things should just be ignored, - I just think we shoudl get behind the club, and the antics of those who are sabotaging and destroying the confidence of our players thorugh their match day bahaviour should be challenged. I am also with those who say let''s get behind the team now,  accpet the decisions the Board have made(whether you like it or not) give the new season at least 10 games or so,  and then look at where we are then. If we have a bad - or even mediocre - start then i think there woudl be an overwhelming acceptance(probably by the Board as well) that enough is enough, and that it is the time for change. If through new summersigning and a much better start Worthy can be seen to continue the recent turn-round then hopefully also the WOs will accept we need to get behind him. In the mean time does it not make sense to accept our differances, but for the sake of the club we all love to perhaps follow this course - call it a truce if you like.
  5. Having silently listened to much of the garbage dealt out by the WO brigade these last few months I decided enough is enough and it is time to redress the balance. I am far from convinced that there is anything like a genuine majority wanting to see the sacking of worthy at this stage, and the phrase ''silent majority'' comes to mind, those who actually might disagree with the rabble rousers, and do not see the need for such infantile protests as recently witnesed. there are those who actually want to support the club not sabotage it!  Whilst we accept that this season has not been what we would have liked, one has to look at the whole picture and Worthy has brought us some tremendous achievements and excitement in the post-Chase era, which before he took over seemed very far away.  What is more, I do not beleive he is finished yet, and am glad the Board have not been weak enough to be intimidated by what I believe is the minority. Drury, McKenzie, Ashton,. Earnshaw, Crouch Huckerby, Francis among others have been inspired value for money Worthy signings, and others are coming into their own including Doherty. If the football is really so bad why have attendances gone up so much during the Worthy era, enabling the club to make ambitoius strides forward in the ground and player signings? Why are we the best supported team in the Championship? Have we been a little spoilt, or have some of the new fans in recent years built up unrealistic expectations?  I have been a supporter for over 40 years, and believe on balance the teams under Worthy have made fair comparisons with those of John bond, Ron Saunders, Mike Walker etc. Whilst it was disappointing to get relegated and not get straight back the majority of teams who have got promoted do just the same, and the Premiership is at a higher standard than it has ever been with the best players in the World on it''s stage. To be part of this last season was in itself a great adventure, one we nearly managed to hang onto for another year, and one I believe - if we get of Worthy''s back we could pull off again!   If anyone has had their day it is the Worthy Outers, and it is time they accepted that. the message has been got across, their concerns have been expressed and are now just very boring!  Let''s finish the season on a good note on Sunday,  and work together. to encourage the whole team for next year. Worthy Outers we''ve heard enough, now may the silent majority speak up.
  6. How can that happen when you do not have the majority?
  7. United we stand, divided we fall - We have the Manager, We have the Board, and most of all the players - whether we like it or not they comprise NCFC at this time. the Worthy Out Brigade have expressed their views,  as have some of those who are happy with the currant regeime, although the fact that they are reasonably satisfired we have the best folks at the helm means they are not likely to be so vocal. If like me you have got fed up with the contiual harping on in a mindless fashion by the WO brigade, now got to the stage of  being so divisive and negative to the team then perhaps now is the time for us to speak out - the silent majority, and appeal for an end to this farce.  WO Brigade! You have had your say, you have had your day! Now the time has come to unite behind and support the team If you are genuine NCFC supporters then stand togetehr and SUPPORT the team, even if it is a meaningless end of season game.
  8. Totally agree - to use the same terms as the WOs themselves - You have had your day - you have had your say - Now move to one side, and let the football continue before you do lasting damage to this great club .
  9. I really think it is so sad to hear the rantings - almost hysterical -- of you lot. You clearly are not going to give this man a fair chance at all, and are just on a witchhunt to get rid of him. :Let me ask another question. If - as he could well do - Worthy leads un into the Premiership next year are you going to get behind him then and admit you may have just got it wrong?  there are plenty of managers whose track record is much worse than his, and plenty of teams who have suffered financially and on the fireld because they have listened to the fickleness of fans, who get upset when the team has a difficult few months. Lets put this farce behind us now, and give the man, the players and the club a chance - premiership here we Come!!
  10. I quite agree, Branston. If those fans who think they are such a majority don''t want to come and express their support for the team, then they are spoiling it for the others - they would be better to stay away. Clearly next year is make or break, and having not done so well this year, Worthy will I am sure be given this one more chance. the Board will decide and the fans are wasting their time and spoiling it for others with their kindergarten behaviour which does their cause -- and the team -- no good at all.
  11. Coming as I do from the Black country I know there are lots of Wolves fans coming next Sunday, many stayng over for the Bank Holiday in Gt. Yarmouth etc. They pride themselves on the ''atmosphere'' at Molineaux, but in reality it can be dead, and then whee they score the steel structure of the ground amplifies the sound, and for a few minutes it can be quite intimdating(hence when we lost two goals in the last 5 minutes there a few years ago to throw away a good lead). they are very fickle though and I recall a couple of years ago in the Premiership I was working nearby when they wen t 3 -0 down to leiscester by half time. the ground veirtualy empties, only for most of these fans to miss a great comeback in the 2nd half for a 3-3 draw. Well, what I would like is on Sunday for us to unite behind the team, show them what a real atmosphere is and give them a good thrashing to climb above them into 7th place. Please, please, let''s not have any of the antics that went on against QPR.
  12. I really can''t see what is being achieved by the WO campaign aparrt from causing a lot of disuinty, bad feeling with a great deal of nonsense having been spoken of by a few people.  His record stands up very well over the time he has been in charge, and even this ''dreadful'' season could see us finishing in 7th place. A win on Sunday would see that and would see us finishing the season with 7 straight home wins, a record Man U or Chelsea woudl be pleased with.  Next season is going to be a make or break one, with the last of the parachite payments, and probably the Robert Green sale giving us the last chance of really spending much to try and get back to the premier League. I happen to think that worthy is the best chance for us to do that - if we get behind him and not try and sabotage him and his players best efforts. Someone new coming in would need time to settle and opportunity next season presents i think woudl be lost. Less than two years ago the city was awash with thousands of supporters chanting Worthy''s name and his achievements, the stirring up now of the worthy Out brigade has been  so fickle and pathetic really as someone cannot become so dreadful in such a short time. Worthington has his problems, has made his mistakes and I would prefer to see the Board(whom I respect a lot) talk these through with him. Yes, it would be good to see more opportunities given to the academy prospects, and I am glad that has happend this year with four being offered contracts. I am concerned at the way some players seem to fall out of favour, and we miss the likes of Mark Edworthy, while even Marc Rivers was on his day a useful player, and Matt Jackson is doing a good job for Wigan in the premier league. these are issues i would want to address with Worthington. the main problems as i see it is our away form and the indifferent midfield performaces this year. Relegation inevitably meant that the premiership quality of David Bentley,  Damien Francis etc would be difficult to replace,  and hopefully this summer wil see soem more positive changes in that respect. the 4-5-1 formation away from home has produced better results, (including today) and seems to be the way forward. Even in our championship winning season we were very tight away from home,. using Huckerby''s pace etc to achieve so much on the counterattack.  Worthington''s tactics sometimes are off-line, but he doens not encourage the hoof-ball if anything that is a nervous reaction to the sort of atmosphere being geenrated by so-called fans at our last home match. these are all issues which I believe are being addressed and will be by a manager and Board of whom I have every confidence - much more than the fickle fans who bring our club into disrepute by their barracking and abuse of their own players and support for opposition goals. I do hope that does not happen next Sunday against Wolves! Long live Worthy! Keep the Faith! Put the WO Campaign to bed!!
  13. Having waited some time I have decided now to post a message because I am saddened at the attitude of what I still consider to be a minotrity of fans calling for the head of Worthington. I remember the same banter showing impatience with Iwan roberts during his first season saying he was the worst signing we had ever made etc. the same calls were made for the head of Mike Walker during his short second spell when despite very difficult personal circumstances we had a good stab at the playoffs and if he had been given a bit longer I think we could have made some real progress. Worthington has his fautlts yes, but has achieved a tremendous amount during his time here, with not limitlmess reousrces. His signings this year may seem a mixed bag, but even they havne''t all been given a fair chance by the fans. Andy Hughes is being given the sort of treatment Iwan Robers was given during his first season, anmd look what a legend he went on to become. I respect Darren Huckerby and his thoughts on Etuhu need to be listened to. the Board have i think showen great wisdom over the last few years mixing prudecne with ambition and the signing of huckerby and Ashton prove this. their judgement over the management situation needs to be respected and accepted, and they do listen to the fans. thank goodness they show more maturity and rational thinking then so mny of the W o s who have resorted to such pathetic effeorts as jeering their own players and cheering opposition goals.
  14. You do get a penalty if the goalkeeper handles a backpass from his own player rather than kicks it. This happend twice, although I do accept they coudl be interpreted as clearances. Surely htough this is a grey area and we could have appealed for a penalty as on both occasions their defenders kicked the ball for their own keeper to handle it. I do distinctlyl recall England getting a penalty in similar circumstances when Owen was sharp enough to immediately appeal.
  15. Quality of life is important, and if Huickerby really likes it here a deal might just be able to be done. On a different note and just going back a couple of games to the game with Stoke I noticed that in each half their goalkeeper pulled off a good save from a clearance/deflection from his own defender''s feet, once in each half. I was surprised that no appeal was made for a penalty for a pass back as there was a good case in both instances for saying this is what it was. The Sky commentators heralded the saves from their own defenders clearance but surely there was a case for saying these were pass-backs to the keeper. Did we miss out on two penaltys? Did anyone else see this? I recall a similar situation once with England when Micahel Owen immediately appealed for a penalty and was given one in similar circumstances when the defender had a deflection saved by their own keeper. Just wonder if I am out of order here or did anyone notice what i was referring to?
