1. Having read some of the posts on here this morning regarding last night''s game and having considered the Player Ratings thread, it strikes me that perhaps last night we evidenced one of the key flaws in our reliance on loan signings: the loanees'' home clubs insisting their players get a game. There was some speculation that Arsenal had been on the blower to Roeder at the weekend making their expectations clear that we either use Gibbs or lose him - equally, Bates seems to have been parachuted into the starting 11 when Semmy has done little wrong. And by the sounds of things, neither player had a very good game last night. It''s fantastic we maintained our unbeaten run last night and unbelievable that we''re still in with an outside chance of a play-off spot, but this situation with Gibbs in particular could be a difficult one for Roeder to manager. If we''d have stuck with our winning team last night, maybe we could have sneaked another win. However, Glen will be under some pressure to pick Gibbs for the next game otherwise he could be on his way back to the Emirates and we wont get anymore Arsenal loanees moving forward! I''m sure he''ll get it right.
 2. Bo11ocks - take it yr listening to the commentary Vince?  How does it sound?  Are we right in it??
 3. I just can''t believe 5 Live haven''t got it covered as a featured match - numpties!  They''re too busy giving updates on the Scunthorpe v Preston match...  it''s doing my nut in!
 4. Get in!  Thanks Vince.   Radio 5 haven''t even got it covered as a featured match - it''s agony continually refreshing the website!!
 5. Roeder getting a loud of praise followed by an interveiw with Munby.... nice to hear but don''t sing Roeder''s praise too loudly!!!!
 6.
Serves him right - the football equivalent to a one hit wonder
4 clubs.  Successful at 2.  Not what I would describe as a one hit wonder. As for the other 2 clubs, he could never surpass Curb''s achievements, so by definition was doomed from the outset.  Further, he was completely undermined by the Chairman.  As for Cov, he was promised the earth, none of which materialised then conducted himself extremely well throughout the on/off/on/off/on takeover debacle.  Better managers have failed in similar circumstances.  Dowie''s a winner and shall be back.  At least I hope so.
 7.

Had it been the other way round, you can be sure the United fans would not have respected it so well!
I''m disappointed by this attitude. I do not have any doubt that any set of fans in the UK would respect a minutes silence in memory of people who lost their lives in a tragedy.
You obviously didn''t watch the England match last week then when some fans heckled during the Munich minute silence.  Hard to believe but true.
 8. Lest we forget (which we haven''t!!!)   Awesome
 9.

He''s a true City legend and he loves this club and we love him.
Yes, agreed.  But the hero worship and "one man team" attitude it carries with it stinks, and Roeder is right to try and stamp it out. The title of your thread - "The Huckerby Era..." - shows part of the problem here.  Norwich City didn''t have a Huckerby Era any more than Manchester United had a "Cantona Era" or Arsenal had "the Henry Years".  It''s a team game.  Everyone seems to know that except Huckerby''s agent and possibly the man himself.
To be honest Mister Chops, I find your post a touch contradictory. You agree Hux is a legend and that we (the fans) love him. But then you claim that hero worshipping stinks. The point I was trying to express in my original post was simply my disappointment at the tension that seems to be simmering between Glen and Hux. I think it has the potential to undermine Huckerby''s final few months (or seasons) at the club. I totally agree with some of the earlier comments that players should be picked on merit - I took that for granted to be honest. And I agree that Glen should make Hux fight for his place; but it seems to me that Glen''s trying to make a point by exerting his authority over a player who''s synonymous with NCFC, rather than putting an arm round him and encouraging him to get back to his best (like Fergie''s done with Giggs and Scholes in recent seasons). I personally think that Hux has still got plenty to offer, but even if he hasn''t, I''d rather he was shown the same kind of encouragement and respect that Le Tissier and Steve Bull received during their latter years.  As far as I''m concerned, that means the manager coming out and talking-up the man who''s carried the club for the last 4 years, rather than continually talking-up the young ''prospects'' we have on loan from other clubs. I''m one of the few people who was pleased when we appointed Glen Roeder and I''m even happier now with the job he''s doing.  However, I do feel uncomfortable with the manager''s approach towards Huckerby.   Hopefully Glen will go on to show us the same kind of passion, commitment and loyalty that Hux has shown us over the last few years. In the meantime, I''d like to see the club, the manager and the fans all getting behind Huckerby and that we see him back to his best and in the first team very soon.
 10.

In the end, he came up short and never got him or the team over the Fulham result.... and he made some strange and frustrating decisions along the way (the persistant use of the ill-fated diamond formation in the Premiership, the persistent use of Holt in the Premiership when he had a lung full of blood, the persistent lack of tactical substitutions until the 89th minute, the persistent use of the word ''sit-you-ashion'').
No real need for me to reply is there mate? you said everything!. PS. Can we get this thread back on track please?.
Think you missed something.  "On balance, I think most people can recognise that he did an excellent job."
 11.
Whats a great post LeedsYellow, maybe you should email that to Glenn on our behalf or send it to the EEN for the readers letters page
I would be happy to CityAngel if it''s representative of a few posters'' views.  But how?!!  Sorry to appear helpless, but being Leeds born and bred I''m about as Norfolkish as Hong Kong Canary and don''t read the EDP!
 12.
Sorry Alex, but in my opinion, he wasn''t in their league, despite promotion, he damn near ruined this club in the end....................they didn''t!.
Wiz - are you for real anout NW?  Don''t just flippantly respond, but think carefully about what Worthy achieved in a realtively short spell without huge investment.  On balance, I think most people can recognise that he did an excellent job. But with a play-off final, a league win and a very exciting and credible run-in in the Premiership season (including a sound thrashing of Man U) I think he did an excellent job. Further, I will always wonder what might have been if he''d been allowed to sign Ashton the summer before the Prem and perhaps if we''d signed Earnie too.... dreams!!!!
 13.
It''s a huge problem though, isn''t it?  It''s the TEAM that matters & Glenn MUST be seen to be giving equal opportunities to all players. I think you''ll find he has stated his awareness of Hux''s awesome abilities - & I would guess that he has had conversations with him about the future of NCFC. I am sure Hux is plenty man enough to understand the situation & knows his involvement as a player will necessarily decline as time goes by - it cannot be otherwise. He''s one of those rare things - a phenomenally gifted individual who is a genuine team player. I feel certain he & Glenn understand each other.
I don''t disagree with you Ron - if Hux isn''t in form, he shouldn''t play. Simple as that.  No special treatment in that respect.  And Hux wouldn''t want such treatment. It just worries me when I read headlines like the one on the Pink Un this morning, followed by "Darren Huckerby''s career as a Norwich City player is in danger of coming to an ignominious end."  Hopefully it''s just sensationlist reporting, but I would love Glen to come and say something like "Huckerby''s got nothing to prove to anyone at NCFC... I just want him fit and in form so we can get him back in the team.."  I don''t think it''s sentimental - I think it''s deserved.
 14. Glen - you''re doing an absolutely awesome job, turning us from relegation certainties to play-off outsiders with literally no budget. Nobody (and I mean nobody) could have done a more impressive job and you''re undoubtedly going to earn ''City legend'' status in your own right. However, please do not take the glister off things by being anything other than hugely supportive of Hux. Huckerby''s been our hero for too long, leading us to the Premiership and equally, been our glimmer of hope during the dark ages. He''s sacrificed financial gain... turned down offers to play for bigger clubs... broken ranks to speak out against the sale of players... decried lack of funds... fallen out with his agent... He''s one of us; a fan. Even now, when his contract has not been renewed, he''s come out and pledged his loyalty and commitment to NCFC - so please do not score points at Huckerby''s expense; do not talk about Huckerby to the press (unless you''re signing his praises); do not make him feel under valued; do not humiliate him. Put your arm around him, encourage him and tell him his future''s at Carrow Road - on or off the pitch and do not let him leave the club. He''s a true City legend and he loves this club and we love him.
 15.
He''ll be happy reading this thread at the weekend [:D]
Does he read this forum CA?
 16.
Thought we misssed him today on that left wing, anyone agree? Nice to see him warming down with the team afterwards though [:)]
Wasn''t there CA but agree entirely with your sentiments. ... find it embarrassing how quickly some seem to forget the loyalty Huckerby has shown us. The guy''s a legend and would do anything for NCFC... not many professionals put the love of a club over money and I hope everyone gets behind him whether this is his last season or not.  And more to the point, I think he''s still got plenty to offer....  suspect he thinks so too. Let''s show him the same affection the Scousers showed Robbie Fowler... God knows he''s earned it!!!!!  OTBC
 17. What the hell is going on at our club? In a season where we''re flirting with relegation and seemingly have very little cash available, our board are spending our money on branding agencies.  This is a football club, not a local government department.  As someone said earlier, this smacks of Labour-esque diversion policies.  I''m appalled. The issue at our club is not lack of supporters so why would it need even think about changing the logo? What''s next?  A new brand name?  Team Norwich.  FC Canaries.    This just about sums things up.
 18.

Chops - do you actually have anything constructive to input, or just berate others for taking the time and effort to share a bit of info?
It''s Mister Chops to you, my friend.
Come on now, Chopsy.  Play nicely.
I''ll come back when I have something constructive to input. Okay, I have something.  I was in Delaney''s the other night when I saw Bryan Gunn walking past the window, and by lip-reading I clearly saw him say Martin Taylor was signing for us tomorrow along with an as yet unnamed striker.  At least, I think that''s what he was saying - there were people in the way and it was raining outside, plus he had his back to me.  How''s that for you, Maloney? If this is proved right tomorrow, shame on you all.
Yawn      Kick it off - I really appreciate you and your dad posting and am sorry you''ve had abuse over it!!! Hope you''re both proved right, but if you''re not, I hope you still share any nuggets of info!!!
 19.
but he negotiated a buyout clause into his contract.. Hence making himself open to offers from Day 1.. if he had wanted to play for us that would never of existed
Get real Jas.  What a ridiculous position to take.  I think most reaonably minded people can understand why Earnshaw wanted to have another bite at the Premiership.  Similarly, I think most reasonably minded fans would love to see him in a Norwich shirt again.  Whether it''s Sutton, Eadie, Fleck, Phelan... they all left for more money and a crack at the ''big time''.  No idea why you''ve got a downer on Earnshaw for displaying similar tendancies.
 20. I agree with this Wiggle and said as much on a previous thread.  Seems to me that with Glen getting rid of the players he didn''t rate in advance of any new signings, then playing a few fringe players was about bringing matters to a head.  I''ve absolutely no doubt that Glen wanted to win last night, but given our league position, he had no choice but to play the fringe players in the cup. Reading Glen''s recent comments, I suspect he''s frustrated with the board already.  But for once we''ve got a manager with the courage of his conviction - I just hope the board respect this as much as I do and don''t call his bluff as there''s not a manager anywhere who could have done any better than Glen''s done - but like others, I fear he''ll leave if the board don''t support him.
 21.
Yep that''s fine as long as he doesn''t come here . Remember he told everybody he didn''t want to play for Norwich anymore so lets make sure his wish is granted .[:@] arrdee.
What a dumb thing to say.  I don''t remember him saying anything of the sort and would be delighted if he came back.  He gave bags of commitment during his time here and think it''s pretty natural that he would want another crack at the Premiership - he parted on good terms as far as I''m concerned and we could do a hell of lot worse.
 22.
What a bunch of wasters
Calm down guys.  Surely everyone can see that this is Glenda giving fringe players the opportunity to perform or face the consequences.  Glen''s clearly bringing a few matters to a head and demonstrating to the board that the existing squad is not up to the job.  I would rather he tinkers in the cup than in the league.  It''s the travelling fans who have my sympathies.
 23. Why the hell Dion wasn''t made caretaker manager, I''ll never know....  I was amazed he wasn''t.   If he was currently acting manager we would already have a fair idea whether he''s got the motivational skills to instill some belief into the team (which personally I think he has) - if he''d delivered a couple of decent results, we could''ve extended until the end of the season to see how it worked out. As it stands, he''s unlikely to get the job and we''ll never know if he could''ve done a job for us.
 24. Would love Mike Walker back in the dug-out.  The man should never have been allowed to leave the club.... if Chase would''ve looked after him properly the first time, he would never have gone!
