This makes no sense. Playing Gilmour in that role is akin to playing Leitner and we all agreed he was not physical enough for this level, despite being more physical than Gilmour! It’s exactly the same as two years ago, just with different players. Although, I do believe we are much better equipped as a squad, Farke just needs to pick the right players in the right position.

Yesterday we went into battle with a half fit team against one of the best sides in world football and competed well for 60 or so minutes. I also thought we looked ok once the subs came on so arguably they were just made far too late. But the game was already lost and I’m sure Farke was looking at the bigger picture (minutes in the tank for those that need them most etc). Personally, I took quite a lot of encouragement from yesterday’s match but still expect a similar result next match. For me, our season effectively starts against Leicester by which time, I expect the squad will be much more prepared and based on what we’re being told, bolstered by another couple of players. Im not worried yet. All eyes on Spurs today!

This notion that we can sell Todd for £40m and simply spend the proceeds to make the team/squad better is nonsense. If he goes, we’d have lost 2 of our front 3 from last season and arguably our 2 best players. That’s probably the best part of 50 goals from last season in terms of the goal itself and assists. You can’t just go out and replace that for so many reasons. It’s just not that simple.

Hanley has Covid, not sure on any of the others but very likely I’d guess.

Surely if we sell Cantwell also, that’s a bit suicidal? We’d have sold our two most creative players and even if we spend the proceeds, it’s a big gamble on whether we can actually replace them. If he’s still here, I’d expect Cantwell to play a huge role this season.

Hopefully they do keep him or we’ll likely lose Cantwell to them as well. That would be very bad indeed. I don’t want us to become Villa’s feeder club!

Yeah that’s awful but it’s the basicness of the Man City shirt that gets me. Just looks like something you’d buy your kid off Yarmouth market because you don’t want to spend £70 on the actual shirt. But it is the £70 actual shirt!

There are some awful shirts this year. Despite some atrocities, Man City’s 3rd takes some beating. Imagine being paid to design that!

I agree with comments about it looking cheap. I’ve not bought it and doubt I will as my initial thoughts were that it would last a couple of washes at best. The material looks like it’ll pluck really easily as well. Wasn’t overly enamoured at first but having seen it in the flesh, it’s far worse than I initially thought.

He’s a very decent player at prem level, not sure why he’s leaving Palace but it seems half their squad are! I’d take him on the right money, no question.

If we sign Ajer, which seems to be likely, I think the preferred formation will include 3 CB’s.

Had we not gone up, there’d be a lot more players leaving.

The deal got canned for whatever reason. I believe we came to a mutual agreement financially.

Idah was our 2nd choice forward at the start of the season. Injuries/Covid etc moved Hugill ahead but I would hope it’s Pukki, Idah and another next season. No disrespect to Hugill but Idah’s all round game is much more suited to us.

Spurs have a decent young RB, Tanganga who’s barely played this season. No idea why. Given we seem to have a good relationship with them, probably not inconceivable to get on loan, although will largely depend on their new manager.

Like with Tettey, I’d like to think that both the club and the player came to an amicable decision. Whilst I’d have loved Mario to get another one year deal and make cameo appearances next season, I suspect that wouldn’t be great for him at this stage in his career. Sad to see them leave and best of luck to both.

He’s done what’s been asked from him and seems to be very popular. Can’t have been easy to be asked to come into the team on a couple of occasions having not even been in the squad weeks. I wouldn’t be averse to signing him as he’s decent back up and does offer something going forward, as well as being our best set piece taker (he’d be a good wing back IMO). Best of luck to him if he doesn’t stay. Not sure what other LB options we have after Dimi? I think we can sadly write Byram off as a viable option and they currently see Xavi as a better option than McCallam. For £3.5m or whatever it is, I don’t think it would be the worst bit of business.

Definately won’t be playing next weekend so completely agree it would be great for Tettey to get a match. Not sure he will though, they probably want to give Sorenson some minutes against decent opposition to see how he fares.

I’ve said if we get 4 points over this weekend, we’re more or less done and dusted. I fully expect us to beat Huddersfield and I’d be very surprised if the other three all pick up max points. Watford’s tricky run starts now. I’m gutted we drew today. It was comfortable and we should’ve won, no doubt. I’m using that to say the players are going to be gutted as well and put Huddersfield to the sword on Tuesday. After an extra days rest than them as well. They’ll get the job done!

I agree with Jersey, I don’t think there will be wholesale changes as players will want to play. I think all of the England/Scotland contingent will start. I doubt they’ll all finish though. Get results in the next 3/4 matches and they can all rest up as much as required!
