  1. The sticking point is that Qatar put their bid in to be held in the summer and the Fifa elect choose it based on their submission only then to realise. That''s how bad this is having to move the goal posts to justify their mess. Clearly a money spinner to line their pockets without clearly thinking. Maybe a global market shows you cannot host football in such climates and shouldn''t be considered in future. What ever will this lead to next? Summer Olympics in the winter and vice versa for the Winter Olympics?
  2. May have been Chartlon at Palace back then. Not Wimbledon
  3. Remember going down to either Crystal Palace (or Wimbledon playing at CP) one season in the late 80s, sitting in the bottom rear of one of the posh coaches used back then with a few friends (initials DP, KG, RR and a few others, they knew me a Thorny way back then) - getting bricked at the Elephant & Castle by Millwall fans on the way there and again on the way back. Coach stops, everyone off an chases - morons just disappeared. Happy were were down there as must have been drafty on the way back upstairs. As for cabbage - definitely because of the banter/fun had by most on the entire trip. Dull as dishwater. Rather be on Cracker Jack
  4. As it got buried in another thread with an argument, keep an eye on this old site for players injuries - always up to date: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php
  5. I''m not saying anything this time City1st after the other day (whoops). I''m waiting for the one when Mark Barham appears myself...
  6. Remember it being called that when using it during my college years in the late 80s
  7. Re: Hooper back. I always found this site, going back to our last stint in the Premiership, handy for injury news: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php
  8. Sorry City! :-S Can''t think of an 8th at the mo
  9. Ok, only 7, one I was wrong about: CA ML JB JB MLJ AS SB
  10. Make it 8 so far (If you include loans) but think there is another
  11. Can think of a few but believing there is a twist in this with a couple of players (one obvious). Would you like names now?
  12. That''s how things should be! That means I''ll have to think of another question to bug me! Should of known that but brain freeze got me - and he was the next door neighbour of a friend. Dooh.
  13. Nothing like watching a derby on a Sunday, more so when one team happens to be your next opponents. I would have been more disappointed if he wasn''t there.
  14. Can usually work out previous players scoring for us but been thinking. Who was the last teenager to score for us in a league game prior to Redmond, more so, in the top flight?
  15. Liverpool will stumble under their own feet, more so when their big ego in Suarez returns. 6th, as Everton will struggle with the Spaniard, other teams far stronger in Man U, Man C, Chelski, Spurs and Arsenal. 17th to 7th places to watch but think myself there could be a divide there come the half way point.
  16. When was the last time we really saw a two pronged attack force in the top flight? Shearer & Sutton perhaps. Without checking, Henry and Bergkamp with any cross over perhaps? I don''t think Hooper would of come hear with the knowledge of RVW being the main man. Perhaps to sit behind in a Wes role, more so at home than away. A poacher, less of a runner - more in a Fowler fashion? To be used in effect when needed. Fer can sit behind these two and feed, could work.
  17. I''m sure Ipswich have a similar clause that if they win x amount of games at home per season they have to pay the council, locals and businesses a percentage.
  18. I care more about Old Durham Town by Roger Whittaker than that Durham.
  19. You fancy a bet Houston that Lambert will score more than RvW or Hooper this season?
  20. Lambert vs RvW (or Hooper) - you decide who you would really prefer in our starting line up this season.
  21. 15 people in 5 seconds? That''s 180 a minute. 2700 fans between 14:45 and kick off. Put this in place in, say the lower Barclay. How quick is that? I believe the speed will be...the same. Anyone having issues - turn up 10 minutes earlier.
  22. Houston wrote: "There is no basketball team in Brazil or Greece that could compete on a regular basis in the NBA. Top foreign talent does not go to Mexico or Japan for baseball, they come from those places to play here. Likewise NFL. " Because most of the sports that take place in the States are only competed in the States. It''s a sport not on such a global scale as Football, Cricket, Golf, Rugby. Do you hear about the American Football World Cup outside of America? Ditto Baseball, Basketball and so on? You don''t. I''m not anti-american, far from it but sport outside of the US is far far different. Football shouldn''t be prone to this over commercialisation where Johnny come lately who wants to own a football club suddenly decides to alter the clubs appearance for the sake of hitting the global market without considering how it came about/where it is based. Thankfully the likes of Chelsea have refrained from this, it''s still Chelsea. Ditto Man U. Why? Because they play football (I hate to say it, will wipe myself down with TPC later) not because of stupid name change.
