1. Trent, we played 4-3-3 several times and we even played "diamond" last year which effectively is 4-1-2-1-2
2. As premier1 points out, we strenghtened the team at the end of August with Crouch, Harper and Hucks. We then went on and made permanent signings with Matty, Leon and Hucks. Does anyone really think that we will have an influx of players that would so radically alter the team again this August? Or that we will make 3 major signings in January? That isn''t going to happen this year
3. Somewhere in a recent post I also advocated Hucks up front with Deano, he had a great relationship with Iwan and that could be easily replicated. In the same post I said that Brennan should be the man to fill the left hand midfield role, he is a genuine midfielder and would give far greater balance to the team.  I thought that when I made that post and I still think it
4. All on one creative midfielder - as I have posted many times before There is no substitute for class, never has been, never will be - and right now we lack class in the midfield. As for is there anyone in the structure at Carrow Road who doesn''t come in for a slagging, well I think Delia is pretty awesome and is a great benefit to the Club. Gunny does a good job in the PR department
5. I sit in the Upper Barclay and didn''t hear any chants of those kind - thankfully. Any one who may chant that stuff should be banned from the Club.
6. If he was available and if we could get him, then of course we should - he is a proven goalscorer of the type who would compliment Deano perfectly. However, there are 2 ifs involved
7. Mello Tello''s comment about Howard Wilkinson is something I have pointed out before. Anybody who takes his lead from Wilkinson is going to be lacking in any form of creativity - Wilkinson was the arch exponent of "coaching by numbers"
8. Good for you, Tumbleweed - a thoughtful post highlighting what is wrong at Carrow Road. The fact is that as far as the playing staff are concerned we DO have the resources that should mean that we take this league by storm. The fact that we are not doing this reflects upon the decisions taken by the management team at some level or other, be it training, coaching, selection etc etc. The fact is that this problem has been ongoing for a long, long, time now and is not limited to this season. This was the reason why we were relegated last year when in truth we had a golden opportunity to stay up. Changes DO need to be made.  Whether the Board will have the courage to insist on those changes remains to be seen.
9. At long last other posters are making sensible comments as to their fears over what is happening at Carrow Road. Football is a business, and our team is expected to deliver to a certain standard. The point has been made that the squad is better than 2 years ago and therefore we have every right to expect a better start than 2 years ago. Certainly in my business if I had/have made a substantial investment I expect an improvement in return, otherwise I will make changes. I do not accept new players as a reason for a slow start. Other teams have new players to bed in but clearly their preseason preparations and ongoing training are better than ours as those teams have started much stronger than we have. It is a management responsibility to ensure that the preparation is right. We should not forget the fact that it is not only about the first 3 games of this season. Last year we were relegated because of poor performances throughout the season...an inability to score goals on a regular basis and a propensity to leak goals at an alarming rate. If any poster does not accept that changes need to be made in our style of play, our quality of play ,and in our results, then they really do need a check up from the neck up. Those changes can be in coaching, tactics, team selection, squad makeup or management personnel - but the important thing is that changes need to be made. My personal opinion is that every manager gets the team that they deserve after about 6 months in charge - therefore, as far as I am concerned, it is W who needs to go, not as a result of the first 3 matches of this season, but also as a result of last season.
10. I am mentally challenged so I will agree with your post, YC. Worthington does need to be made aware that the Club needs to move forward in terms of greater skill and tactical awareness - coaching - and a replacement has never been found for Malkay. If Worthington cannot provide these things then he should be replaced.  No matter what many posters believe ther are other managers out there who have the experience and qualities to take us to the next level if it proves beyond Worthington.
11. It must be clear to all now that the Worthington ethics of energy and work rate are no substitute for skill and quality This was probably best epitomised by Hughes. He was all over the park today but at crucial times his passing was sub standard. Leon is another totally committed player but his first and final touch continues to be poor. First touch and control are essential to a striker but in our hearts of hearts we know that Leon doesn''t have them I fail to see how we as a team can continually pass into a space where it is easier for the opposition to get the ball, or worse, pass direct to the other side as happened several times against C Palace. Equally, the link up play between the midfield and forwards, and between forwards and forwards, was also sub standard. 3 points from 3 home games is crap
12. I reluctantly have to agree with you Leon''s work rate and effort cannot be questioned, however his skill levels are not that great - it''s why he spent many years in the lower leagues. When every one around him are playing well then we get away with it as his commitment overcomes his lack of class.  Sadly, when the majority of the team is playing poor quality football then Leon''s shortcoming''s stick out and that''s where we are right now. I think he needs to be stood down and someone else needs to come in. For me it would be Hucks with either Brennan or McVeigh going wide left.  My personal belief is that Brennan, as a "proper" midfielder, would give us better structure anyway. Hucks and Iwan looked very, very dangerous at times two seasons ago...Hucks and Deano could be devastating.  That would leave Leon to work at winning his place back, or even better using him as an "impact" sub.
13. It seems as though Hughes was the Holt of Reading. Hardworking, energetic, willing, not particularly skillful but makes a valuable contribution to the team. Clearly W was always going to bring in that type of player once Holt was away as he (W) values high work rate and energy, almost above everything else. Sure Hughes committed a couple of "faux-pas" on Tuesday but it was also noticeable how he tried to get the crowd going, and how he did applaud all sides of the ground at the end when the reciprocal feelings were not that great.  All credit to him, he could well become the "leader" that we need on the pitch and the player to whom the crowd responds.
14. Midfielder first, Wiz!! I have been advocating Sidwell since the January transfer slot last season, he is the the obvious "class" act in this league.  Following the exodus of highly paid players this season, plus the influx of transfer fees, we have the capital available, and we have the available wages, so do it now!! If we have any money left after that then look for a centreback. However, I think Colin/Shacks could be an interesting combo, as would Charlie/Shacks.
15.
I''m sorry, maybe I was watching a different match - its entirely possible that I took a wrong turn to the ground and ended up at QPR - but I don''t really seem to remember Crewe being "all over us"?!? ...
So what are we saying here?  A "Supporter" is someone who sees absolutely nothing wrong with the Club?  Who sees nothing wrong in the way that we may play? Who sees nothing wrong with what the tactics may be? Who sees nothing wrong with team selections or transfers in and out? Who sees nothing wrong with any of the personnel at the Club? What a way to look at things - that would mean there was nothing wrong with, for instance, Chase; Hamilton; Jimmy Blair; Gerry Howshall; the way that Malkay was transferred etc???? Just because I am not happy with certain things at the Club, and am willing to express those concerns, does not exclude me from being a "Supporter".  In fact, I would argue that my expressing those concerns makes me a better "Supporter" that one who simply accepts everything blindly
16. Spot on, Mark Y. We do need the players that you popint out and we could be 2 from 9 come Saturday evening
17. Some interesting opinions as ever The "rosy spectacle" brigade saying that it is only the beginning of the season, we have new players to settle in, we could have scored a hatfull etc. The "realists" pointing out that the fact is we only have 2 points after playing 2 home games against what would be considered weak opposition. The fact is that other teams have new players to bed in, and it''s also the start of the season for them, but they have started significantly better than us. To me that says something about our preparation, coaching and tactics, or lack of, and team selection, and that of course reflects on the manager. But of course no criticism must be levelled at W in many people''s eyes, he is immune!! Immune my arse, we have 2 points from a possible 6 - all at home against "weaker" teams. Let''s get real peeps, it isn''t good enough. Fact!!
18. It is very worrying that we cannot beat two teams at home who only just avoided the drop out of this league last year. Don''t tell me it is the beginning of the season and we need to settle down...what does that say about Sheffield United, Luton, et al? Have they got it wrong?? Have they hell..they have max points and we have a paltry 2 and facts don''t lie Sure we looked better when Safri came on, sure Shacks looked better than Doc, sure we missed loads of chances, etc, etc, etc...but despite all that we were/are not good enough to beat what we would have considered to have been "easy meat" Two points out of six is nowhere near promotion form...and it could look really dreadfull after Saturday
19. Glad you likes the Howard Wilkinson bit, Zipper Unfortunately I think it explains much about Nigel.
20. Sign Sidell then.  After the transfers out we have the money and we have the available wages. There is little doubt that he is probably the outstanding midfielder in this division so we should make an offer that cannot be refused
21. "Honest enough bloke who seems to be able to attract players to the Club. Can favour effort over ability. Seems to lack tactical nuance. Has a tenancy to select certain players as a result of their relationship with him rather than on results, and a tendency to let personal squabbles get in the way of selecting the best team. Clearly influenced by his mentor, Howard Wilkinson, which must leave a very big question mark over him.
22. It has to be Sidwell.  he stands out in this league just like Cahill did before he went ot Everton. With the transfers out and wages saved we must have both the capital and available wages to make a move for what could be the missing link.  The important thing is to do it NOW!!
23. Interesting post. I also would like to see Shackell and Colin.  Both are relatively young, both appear to be "footballers" in the sense that they are comfortable on the ball, have good positional sense etc. However, will it happen?  I doubt it.  With Worthington it will be Flem + A.N. Other
