  1. Weston - Sounds to me as if you are suffering from Post Championship Stress Disorder. Cheer up mate - it doesn''t get much better than this. By way of therapy may I suggest that you get yourself down the local watering hole and get completely bladdered. When you wake up you won''t be able to remember who we were playing last night let alone the score, but you will be able to remember that WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!! OTBC
  2. I sincerely hope its absolutely nothing to do with us.
  3. Is that going to draw the crowds or what?
  4. Thanks lads. All the best for the playoffs. In truth we''ve been a bit slack ever since the Palace result against you sent us up. At Watford we were great first half / start second but when 2-0 up we eased off and nearly lost it - Watford scored and hit woodwork twice. At home to Preston (who were pretty handy if you ask me) again we just sneaked it. But thats the name of the game - if you can win when not playing that well then you''ll always be thereabouts. Who do you fancy in the playoff lottery? I think it will stay with the current teams but not neccessarily in that order. Its a tough one to call who would get through - no one seems to be talking about West Ham and it would be just typical if a team who really haven''t done anything all season nicks it. As long as our good friends the Binners don''t make it! It would be a travesty if a team with the 3rd worst defensive record (admittedly they have scored the most!) get promoted All Norwich fans who remember ''85 will be cheering you on!!
  5. Whatever you think of Clint, I for one would just like to wish him well for the future. It must be very hard for players like him, Sinclair and Chrichton (and there''ll probably be some more) when they are effectively cast aside just as the bandwagon starts rolling. Not for them the adoration that Iwan can take with him. I''m not being over sentimental here - just stating that these guys are probably feeling pretty low when all of us are ''over the moon'' and they deserve a hearty fairwell and our best wishes for whatever they decide to do. If you''ve ever been made redundant from a job - you''ll know how they feel. Good luck lads.
  6. Well - 5 mins left at SOL - Iwan is on - Any chance for the big man? WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!! Well done evrybody!
  7. You''re dead right Peter. Holt showed that a mere flesh wound wasn''t going to stop him from donning the yellow and green and missing out on the Party on Saturday. Although he did have a plaster, and a more substantial bandage in the second half - what a wimp! He reminded me of the black night in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He ended up with just a head but was still claiming that he''d ''bite the ankles'' of his adversaries!
  8. Yep - I remember that dodgy pen all too clearly. Its going to be VERY tough for Wolves / Leicester / Leeds next season because all 3 of these clubs are not in the best of shape financially. Of the 3 I think Wolves are the best placed to come back up like WBA but for Leeds / Leicester I can see them struggling. Also I remember at the last game that season - at home to Villa - the "Chase Out" thing being in full flow. At the end of the match (1-1 I think) we traded "Chase Out" / "Ellis Out" chants with the Villa fans. I also clearly remember singing the Vera Lynn wartime classic with them - "We''ll meet again - don''t know where, don''t know when, but I know we''ll meet again some sunny day".... Well after 9 long years in the darkness, the sun has finally come out....
  9. Pete & PremYella - You lucky, lucky bas*****!!!!! Good for you!
  10. Top rumours I''ve heard as replacement for this.... Ian Crook - fairly obvious choice that one Dave Williams - apparently no longer at Man Utd
  11. Hi Wiz Glad to hear that your good lady is on the mend after your traumatic time at the JP. "Fair ye''well tegether"
  12. Stumpy - your ok with your inflateable "I Love Ewe" plastic sheep as long as you wear "protection" for the post match celebrations"! Whilst we''re on about copyright and official merchadise - here''s another little gem for you all. Just ask the club when they started calling the mascot and selling merchandise as "Captain Canary", and then ask them if they think that they own the copyright. Then, for those of you old enough that may still have a copy lying around, take a look at some of the "Never Mind The Danger" fanzines produced in the late 80''s and see if you can spot a certain cartoon character that I invented..... Now I''m not saying I''d do anything about this "oversight" but....
  13. Kathy At the moment I am my own boss so to speak - as the computer software business I am a partner in is not doing so well. Whilst this gives me plenty of time to post on here its not exactly doing the family finances much good. It was quite funny when I rang H&S and DTI - they took me very seriously. For Trading Standards, I actually had to give my name/address and when asked why I was calling I said I was doing some journalistic research into Stadia regulations / sport merchadising - well I was!! If anyone out there knows anyone who needs a top notch (Canary supporting!) Data Expert/ SQL Server consultant please let me know! Maybe I could sort out the tech probs on the msg board! Hopefully my situation will be remedied shortly one way or the other - I have an interview tomorrow - wish me luck!
  14. You are right LC - thats exactly what they want. You are quite correct in that they should be selling their merchadise on the basis that a) its official b) its good quality c) profits to the club If however people choose to buy unofficial merchadise because a) it was produced first or b) its cheaper then thats their choice. I dont care whether someone buys official or unofficial, it is after all personal choice, but I think that it is VERY petty of the club to say that the unofficial merchadise cannot be brought into the ground on Health & Safety grounds when that is just a pathetic scaremongering tactic to get people to buy official and no regulations or standards actually exist - other than ''safe for public use'' - particularly in the case of flags. When we''ve forked out time and time again for our club, for merchadise (and face it - we spend 100''s times more on official than unofficial), shares, season tickets, away matches it is more than a little rich for the club to take this attitude. After all - we''re all going to do it again next season aren''t we? It smacks a little of out and out greed by the club - if I were you City, I''d just promote your own merchadise and keep quiet about this ''one off'' situation. We''ve supported the club all the way and this argument is just plain poor PR by the club. Of course the club has the right to protect its trademarks etc but good grief - the more green and yellow there is around the better and ultimately it will lead to higher sales for the club anyway. If you''ve got a HCUK T-shirt, a promotion T-shirt / flag from Watford, or a scarf knitted by your granny - wear them and wave them with pride - they really can''t stop you.
  15. Quote from Pinkun article : At the most recent match at Watford on Saturday, and at the beam back of the same match to Carrow Road, hundreds of fans had unofficial promotion merchandise. Last night, Hoy repeated warnings that fans could have certain items confiscated if they tried to bring them into Carrow Road or any other ground. He said: "We can guarantee that every item sold by us has been checked to meet health and safety standards. Anything that doesn''t meet those standards could be confiscated." In the absence of clear instructions regarding flags in particular I decided to do a little research. I rang the Health & Safety Executive and got the response that they issue no standard for flags or their use in stadia - they suggested I rang the DTI regarding product safety regulations which I duly did, and again there were no regulations regarding flags. The DTI suggested I rang Trading Standards and following a third call, surprise surprise there are not even any manufacturing standards required for flags other than the most general standard that they have to be safe for consumer use. Arsenal have been trying to encourage flags at the ground and issued the following statement regarding a recent ''flag day''. ''Due to health and safety regulations, the flags that fans bring into the ground can be no bigger than one metre square and the sticks no thicker than an average pencil.'' The ''unofficial'' Norwich flags sold at Watford are 90cm x 60cm - and the stick is thinner than a pencil. By comparison - the official flags sold at the Millennium Stadium for the playoff final are 100cm x 70cm - and the stick is slightly thinker than the ones sold at Watford but still ''pencil like''. So we should be ok then... I then thought - hang on what about the MOTD flag and the Jarrold Stand flag - umm - so size doesn''t matter then - honestly girls it doesn''t :-) Can our flags spontaneously ignite you may ask. Well should you get quizzed re flammability say you''ve personally treated the cloth with this stuff http://www.fabricuk.com/fr/ and ask them to prove otherwise. So unless you bring in an actively flaming rag the size of a yacht spinnaker fixed to a mast with a bayonet fitted to the end, what I have found is that there are NO SPECIFIC SAFETY REGULATIONS regarding flags - the clubs are just making it up and using H&S as an excuse to try and force you into thinking that you cannot take your non-official flag into the ground. If you get challenged, ask Mr Hoy to produce documentation of the "health and safety standards" that means that you cannot take your flag into the ground - he won''t be able to - so just give him a cheery smile and carry on waving to your hearts content. 16. We''re not getting back to your City Dreams thread again are we Susie!
  17. Should we go on to win the title, I was wondering if Norwich would consider letting the fans have their picture taken with the League trophy (which in my opinion is still way more classy than the tacky Prem trophy). I know Arsenal did this with the FA Cup, and it would make a great souvenir of the season. I think it was arranged on several predefined days over a period of a few weeks on a turn up and have the photo taken basis. Can''t see why we couldn''t do something similar. I''d be up for it.
  18. blacko - I agree - it would be great if the fans could be given one of the medals - it would be a fantastic symbolic gesture. It could be put in the trophy cabinet so we could all see it on future open days etc. I hope the club asks for more than the 21 they are allowed - so that everyone can have one - but I doubt they would stretch to 24,000+ !!
  19. Whiz - any news on your good lady yet? Here''s sincerely hoping eveything went smoothly for her (and you)
  20. I''ve thought about this alot today since seeing the original post On the one hand I reckon the Binners could just do it. I don''t know what would make me feel worse - them coming up this year with us, or the doomsday scenario of us being relegated next season whilst they get promoted. Then I thought again, and its quite conceivable that they won''t make the playoffs at all, and then they''ll be in financial trouble and stand no chance next season. Finally I came to thinking that so far this has been the perfect season for us so I see no reason to fear the future - and so, in the final analysis I have decided that I couldn''t give a stuff who comes up with us as I''m not going to let anything spoil this moment! STILL TOTLAHAL! OTBC
  21. Interesting post. I''ve posted before that I think some very interesting things will come out of our Malaysian connection and it wouldn''t surprise me at all if we picked up a "star" from there just to boost commercial sales etc, but if we do, I hope that there is a footballing purpose as well. I can''t find anything about this guy though - sure you got the spelling right as it makes it very hard to find anything on Google unless you have. Any idea of who he plays for currently? Tried the Malaysian FA site - but nothing on there about him that I could find. Also note the top league in Malaysia is called the Super League - the Premier League is their Div 1 equivalent!
  22. Not unsurprisingly Worthy is to get a new deal on his contract from Norwich. The club are absolutely right to try and sort this out ASAP before anyone comes knocking at the door... A nice fat pay rise, a contract extension with a mega bucks bonus if he keeps us up next year should be order. Decent managers don''t grow on trees and we must do everything to ensure we can hang onto him.
  23. I''m sure the club wants to make all it can financially out of getting promotion but banning flags etc from CR not produced by the club on the grounds that they are a fire risk seems a little - shall we say petty! Does that mean we all have to have our underpants tested for their inherent combustion coefficient on entry to CR too? Some people''s will have a higher risk of combustion than others - especially some of my mates (phew!). Will we be banned from throwing cut up yellow pages because the paper is a fire risk or a piece may land in someones eye? No balloons, beach balls etc unless they are bought from the club shop allowed in? Come on city - lighten up a little - if a few entrepreneurial types make a few quid by beating you to the game by getting this stuff - which people obviously want - out quicker than you then you only have yourselves to blame. Whats stopping the club setting up some outside stalls outside the ground on Saturday - nothing? If you want to stop the Delboy traders then you have to beat them at their own game - produce fast and sell at a cheap price. In the scheme of things, what these guys make is pocket money up against the minimum of £30m next season (£20m TV money, £7m ticket revenue, £1m shirts etc, £2m sponsorship) you''ll make.
