  1. Pace, so that we don''t have to defend on the edge of our penalty area because we''re worried about the ball over the top of the last man. This means that we can compress the play and link up with the midfield and strikers (whoever they may be this week). This means that "hoofing" football, as it has been referred to on this site, could be replaced by the passing game for which we''re renowned.
  2. Hey, Mr Warnock, another great result tonight, then!!
  3. A good point. When Beckham was their age, he was loaned out to a lower Division Club for a few weeks, and he reckons that it was the making of him.
  4. I think that Patrick Agyemang gave us all sorts of problems when we played Gillingham last week. He won almost everything in the air, had frightening power and pace and distributed the ball excellently after his hold up play. Also, he''s still young and could be developed into a top-class striker. I should think that the Gills might accept a reasonable offer in order to keep their books balanced.
  5. IF this is true, then Worthy goes down big time in my estimation. We are desperate at this crucial stage of the season for someone to consolidate at left back whilst Adam D regains his fitness. Who better than someone who NW described as "one of the best left sided defenders in the First Division". Re-arrange the following words: yourself / shooting / foot / in the". And he wonders why the fans groan at times.
  6. DumbleDelia, How dare you say that NJR is a t*t; they''re useful. In contrast, NJR''s comments are about as useful as an ash-tray on a motorcycle.
  7. The post about Splat the Cat made me smile. He was taking the juice out of one of the Groundsmen at half time on Tuesday and very nearlt got a pitchfork through his paw!! I also remember the guy who shot the ball through the hole and won the holiday; he got so hacked off at his pathetic first efforts that he whacked the ball in anger and it fizzed into the hole at about 90 mph!!!
  8. NKIA - I''m having a glass of wine whilst reading your extremely perceptive and witty posts. Goodness me, my wine tastes a little odd, what can it be? Must be sour grapes...
  9. Talking of which, does anyone fancy Patrick Agyemang as a summer buy? He has power and pace to burn - he brushed aside Malky and Shacks on Tiesday like he was swatting off flies; he looked dangerous every time he got the ball and, with the supply that someone like Mullers could provide, he could be a great buy.
  10. My 11-year-old daughter was given a ''balloon hat'' by Razz the Clown just before kick off on Tuesday. 45 minutes (and much tearing out of hair) later, the hat got stamped on, as it was obviously creating bad luck. Result? 3 goals and another step closer to the promised land. Superstitious? Me? Thankfully not, touch wood.
  11. I was stood next to "the lad with learning difficulties" when Big Iwan came over to speak to him. Robbo was brilliant and even found time to autograph my 11-year-old daughter''s programme. The man is a true gent, a fantastic professional, and personifies everything good about this Club. And I still believe that he can do a great job as ''Super Sub'' during the run-in. Give this man a Testimonial Match as soon as we can, so that we can show him how much he means to us!
  12. Worthy has worked wonders at this Club and is definitely "our King", but he should be having a go at his players in relation to their first half performance last night, not those in the stands. The frustration of those fans was caused by some players'' apparent lack of effort and commitment; if you wear the yellow shirt, you should give 110%. Against the Gills, if a player misplaced a pass or made a mistake, but worked hard to win the ball back, he was cheered and applauded. For example, Hendo may not have had one of his best matches for us, but at least he worked his socks off; Malky was struggling to cope with Agyemang, but he gave his all. However, it is NOT unreasonable for supporters to get wound up at the sight of other players - who are privileged to be paid a lot of money to play footy for a living - losing possession and then strolling around the pitch without the fire in their belly to chase the ball down and try to win it back again. I feel that Damien Francis was the worst culprit for this. As a comparison, we had a poor first half against the Binners, but at least the team worked hard in an effort to make it right; that''s why the boys were cheered off at half time in that match. Worthy''s comments inferred that the fans had no right to show their frustration at a dire and uncommitted first 45 minutes; does this mean that he felt the first half performance - against 10 men, don''t forget - was acceptable? I don''t think so! I recall NW having a real go at the supporters a couple of years ago, only to eat humble pie and apologise big time - is history repeating itself?
