  1. Nice work Thorny. I can see that as a billboard outside Carrow Ruud when we hit 39 points. John Motson will be interviewing Worthy in front of it for a MOTD snippet, with the Great Escape theme playing in the background.
  2.                                   HEAD  v   HEART Fulham     v  Everton        1-1       0-2 Man City  v  Pompey        2-1       3-1 Newcastle v  Palace         1-2       23-0 Soton       v  Norwich       2-1       0-68 W.B.A       v Arsenal         1-1       0-235 If my heart predictions come true, then goal difference has a swing in favour of Norwich that Jon Snow would be proud of.
  3. As with any situations where there''s an element of stress, expectation and high drama, inevitably, Hollywood will make a movie out of it 20 years down the line. So, if you were the casting director for NCFC 05 The Escape, who would you cast in the lead roles? My choice would have to be: Worthy:  Hugh Grant - Bumbling, Quiet, but charming none-the-less Ashton:  Clive Owen - Presence, unassuming, a born star Green:  Jim Carrey - Bendy, great reflexes, needs a haircut Leon:  Chris Rock - relentless, energetic, all-over-the-place Hucks:  Keanu Reeves - The saviour or NCFCMankind. Thoughts on scrpit and stars?
  4. I''ve had confidence that we''d stay up all season, even when things were looking bleak. Now that confidence is pulsating through the team, i''m even more convinced that the great escape is on. Have faith Pinkuner''s. We will stay up. I can''t wait for the Fulham game. With Monday off work, win or lose, it''s going to be a party!
  5. Just read on Sky Sports that Arsenal are said to be monitoring Ashton''s progress just incase we''re relegated this season. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=271467&CPID=8&CLID=&lid=2&title=Ashton+rejects+speculation&channel=Football_Home Judging by his comments, i''m pretty confident the boy will stay with us if we do happen to go down. If we pull of the miracle, he''s going to set the premier alight next season. One of the bonuses of having a player who everyone''s talking about is that talent attract talent. If we stay up, with Ashton, Green & Francis in the team, i can see City as a very attractive proposition both in terms of players coming here and securing mid-table in our second season. All we need now is those 4 wins. 16 from 4. Game on!
  6. If someone offered me any other striker currently playing in the preier for our run-in, i''d choose Deano above them all. Some may say that''s me being biased, but i really can''t see any other strikers who i feel will score every game. Henry possibly, but anyone else? I think not. A fantastic signing, and a living legend if he gets the goals to keep us up. 16 from 4. It''s on the cards.
  7. I was not overtly generous on the points for the boys, but still came out with: Norwich      36 WBA          35 Palace       32 Saints        30 Fingers crossed results go our way until mid-may. I''m sure lady luck is raking through her chest of drawers ready to pull on the Green and Yellow once again.
  8. It''s been mentioned on these here fine web threads a few times this season, that a number of people would rather be a mid-table Premier League team than a Yo-Yo team, bouncing from league to league each season. One season of pure Joy, the next of sheer hell. As we''re currently the strongest team in the league (by way of holding everyone else up), it''s easy to fall into the warm and cosy blanket of "missing the real football in the 1st Division" or "I''m looking forward to seeing real fans again", whereas if we were either mid-table or a few points from safety, it would be "This is where the real football is" and "The 1st Division is a crap league". Football is, after all, a fickle game. Would i rather have Premier League mid-table mediocracy, or live the crazy life of a Yo-Yo club? It''s a question that has had me veering one way and another trying to make a decision. The Pro''s of Mid-Table mediocracy: Sky TV Revenue to build a "stronger" squad, weekly Premier league action, the "potential" to challenge for Europe once every so often etc. The Con''s of MTM: It''s so bloody boring. A win here. A defeat there. Each month morph''s with the next. "Oh, we won, Oh, we drew..Yadda..yadda.." Each Saturday is meaningless after a set period when safety is relatively secured. Now, as a Yo-Yo afficianado, the con''s are simple: You get relegated. You lose members of your squad. That type of thing. However, the Pro''s are what football supporting is all about. Every week is a nail-biter. We need this win to go 1st. We need a draw to get into the play-offs. We need to win to move out of the relegation zone. We need a draw to catch up with 2nd bottom. Every single week the game has some meaning. Fair enough, we may not have the best squad in the country, but for 1 year, we''ll have one of the best squads in the division. We may then get promoted, whereby you have one of the best days and nights of your life (i.e, Watford away last year), or we may get relegated (which may indeed happen this year). The point of my arguement is, no matter what, every week when City play, it''s something to look forward to, and something that you know you''re going to love and worry in equal part. The only analogy i can think of is Mid-Table is like an old marriage: You don''t get too excited about things as you''re used to the good times and the bad times. You''re both solid, but you''ll never win best/worst marriage. Yo-Yo-ing is like having a sultry lover: There''s always passion. always excitement and it''s never boring. Fair enough, your lover may kick you in the bo*locks once in a while, but after a while, you learn how to toughen those parts up. She giveth and she taketh, and boy, it''s addictive. I''m not going to ask what everyone would prefer, as i know that mid-table Premiership is the promised land for the Canaries. The point is, i feel we may Yo-Yo for a year or 2 to come, so let''s enjoy the affair before we settle down to early nights with the wife. Onwards, downwards, and further upwards.
  9. Looking on the Geordies website, it looks as though their injury crisis has come at just the right time for City. When they visit FCR, they will have: Bowyer and Dyer suspended Lauren "I tell it like it is Boss" Robert out of the picture N''Zogbia, Jenas, Bramble, Babayaro & Hughes injured. I wonder if Souness is registered with the FA as a player still? IF we win at Palace, and you can see that''s a big IF, the confidence taken into the game will provide the players with the perfect opportunity to take 3 points from a stuttering top-tier team. Now we have all our players back from injury, is lady luck finally coming back to her favourite football team after an over long hiatus?
  10. I can''t see why Worthy doesn''t give Jonson a run out in his natural role. If he gets the goals for Sweden, then surely he can bag a few for the Yellows. My team for Saturday: Green Helveg Shakell Doc Charlie Bentley Safri Damo Hucks Ashton Jonson
  11. I''ve seen Zander Diamond play a few times this season, and he''s a very good prospect. Quite a bit of experience for a young lad, and would be a quality signing IMO. I also rate Derek Riordan. He''s banging them in for Hibs, and again, he''s a young lad with a good future ahead of him. Team for Man Poo: Green Helveg, Shakell, Doc, Charlie Bentley, Safri, Francis, Hucks Ashton, Jonson
