  1. I have also watched the side training twice this season with my kids. During Monday of half term week, after QPR, the emphasis was on defending. Not getting caught out of position at the back. Following the runners, anticipating passes, cutting them out. They were awful. A group of five forwards, inc Hucks, separately played keep ball. Hucks wanted to join the main group and moaned about it a lot, but wasn''t let in. Injured Jarret was limited to jogging round the pitches. He kept acting like a prat. Seems a show off who thinks he''s better than he actually is. Hughes was really made to work, chasing everything in the midfield. Flem was in his new RB position.  I came to the conclusion, after such a close inspection, that the defence isn''t good enough to stop shipping goals. Don''t we know it.
  2. ''Who ate all the pies'' is top notch telly. Kevin day is a stand up comic who has also done some reports for Footie Focus I think.
  3. I had to laugh at Highbury when Arsenal fans started to leave, and we chanted " Au Revoir, Au Revoir, Au Revoir", and they came back with "What''s the French for going down". Prophetic or what???
  4. He is already pissed off. I took the kids to Colney recently for the autographs etc, (a bit of a treat for me as well if I''m honest) and I asked him when he was going to get a game. His reply in a peed off,  what the f is going on sort of tone was "you tell me!" He could easily have added "...''cause I don''t know what I have to do to get one, and if I don''t, I may look elsewhere".
  5. We love top quality football. At it''s best it is pure artistry and superb entertainment, and 90 minutes is never enough. Arsenal and Man U last night was exactly that. Mezmorised by the speed and skill on display, I reflected on the dvd I got this Xmas of the 1966 World Cup Final. I was 13 back then and remember the occasion vividly, thinking at the time how superb England were. Looking at it now, Jesus it was slow, terrible ball control, misplaced passes, forwards with acres of room. IMO the standard back then compares to League 1 or 2 today. Athletes in all fields have improved over 40 years, and footballers are no exception.  So where does City fit in here? My question is, how can we ever aspire to the level of brilliance on show last night? Of course, not every top Prem game is as good, BUT, whilst we have persistence, spirit and graft in buckets, we can''t compete with that, and I can''t see how we ever will. OK, the priority at the moment is Prem survival, and we are all focused on that...one game at a time etc etc, but will we ever see Norwich playing such magnificent football. If you think so, tell me how. Is it simply money? Ten or 15 years in the Prem will secure sufficient funds to buy the best on the market. I can''t see it. The top teams will maintain their cash rich status and keep the rest of us at arms length.   My conclusion if that the gulf is becoming so apparent, that we will see the emergence quite soon of the UK ''Average'' League, competing at an average level to play in the Euro Super League, and only then, after winning the Euro Average Team Cup, a competition of the top two in each countries Average League. The closest we will get to the quality we saw last night, will be on the tele.  Come On Ye Yellows, prove me wrong tonight. Dazzle me!
  6. My excuse...for leaving our seats at 2-4...I don''t bleed Yellow and Green...my heart is still the pure white of Leeds United...BUT...my two young boys, Norwich born and bread, have NCFC written through their core like sticks of rock. We''re all season ticket holders in the Barclay, and whilst we left our seats a bit early, we had merely moved to the bar area to see the last few moments on the box in preparation for a speedy exit,(is that forgivable?) when we caught the second goal. At that point almost half of those down there with us scurried back into view of the pitch. We were singing as well...(the reverberating echo from down there probably added much to the thunderous tone of the chanting). When the 4th went in we all hit the roof. This was like world cup shoot-out delerium. Superb stuff. The floor of the Barclay moved that day, if not quite the earth. OTBC, and come on Leeds.
  7. I''ve been glued to this board for weeks following the intense transfer speculation. Trying, like most posters and viewers, to separate the laughable and ludicrous from the plausible and possible.  This is my first post, but I fealt obliged to comment on on what must be the worst mis-timed challenge ever, and a monumental embarrasment for 1st Wizard. OK, he got it sooo wrong, but hey, what a bold, brave and definitive challenge it was. No umming or arring..No way out ..no open back door... no hoping or wishing...just absolute certainty. 1st Wizard put his credibility on the line and didn''t see the train coming. What I find difficult about this is the misreading of Worthy''s most recent statements widely covered by Anglia, Sky etal, regarding A lists etc. That was the loudest hint ever that he and the board were doing everything possible to get Ashton and Bent, given that he had ruled out Zamora. I saw the interview yesterday, and said to my self YES.. it''s going to happen. So how did Ist Wiz, apparantly alone among his poster peers, get it so wrong?  It is my nature and my business to be cautious in negotiations, and never close the door if there is still a chance. How boring this board would be if everyone took that approach. So I say thanks to 1st Wiz for some great entertainment. Keep coming in with two feet flying.
