  1. In. Bad day today, but rarely been as proud of the team as over the last month or two. Even today, with Ashton''s disallowed goal and two possible penalties it could all have gone differently. At 2-0 (unluckily) down, we had to attack and chase it, and Fulham were a good enough side to punish us. That''s not Worthington''s fault, that just football. Bring on next season (I''ll miss the live matches in Canada, though).
  2. I''ve just seen him buying a cheeseboard at the Co-op here in Calgary.....
  3. Saudi Canary - best regards and "Go Flames Go!" to your Calgary colleagues. Anyone from Norfolk has got to support a team with a goalie nicknamed "Kipper". If you ever saw Sid and Henry K. in their prime you''ll know what I mean. Calgary''s Canary Fan - I''m hoping to get the Ship and Anchor to devote at least one screen to Friday''s match (5pm Calgary time). As it''s a holiday, and the Flames playoff game doesn''t start till 8.30 or so, I think there''s a reasonable chance that they will. I''m going there with a part-time Norwich fan (an ex-UEA student who vaguely supports Norwich when they''re top of the league!). You''re very welcome to join us, we''re aiming to get there about 4. As it''s a recording please don''t find out the score in advance!! We''ll be in the corner, drinking Guinness, and shouting at the telly.
  4. Yes indeed, Calgary''s Canary Fan, there''s at least two of us, perhaps you''ll have to consider changing your name!
  5. I know that a fair number of North American fans log on to this board, so hopefully it''s worth pointing out that the Wigan match is being shown "near-live" (yes, I agree it''s a stupid term)at 7pm Eastern Time next Friday in the USA and Canada. It''s on a very obscure network called the Setanta Pub Channel, which is beamed into some pubs that show UK sports (be warned that not all pubs that show the regular Setanta sports have this channel) . Go to www.setanta.com, then click on "TV schedule" for more details. If you contact them by email they will eventually tell you the nearest pub showing the channel (it took them 2 days in my case, so don''t leave it too late). Your next task will be to convince the bar staff that they do in fact have this channel, but I watched the West Brom game at the Ship & Anchor here in Calgary, so it can be done. Definitely ring ahead though, as in my case only the manager knew that this channel was available. I''m not optimistic that I can persuade them to devote a TV to it at 5pm on Friday, and if it clashes with a hockey play-off there''ll be no chance, but those of you in other time-zones and TV markets might have a better chance.
  6. Yes indeed, beating the Sc*mmers, and pushing them out of a play-off spot, then M*scat missing a vital penalty, and Colin W''s dirty bunch going out of the Cup. What a great day!
  7. Lol was the also the first City manager I recall. Nowadays I suppose he''d be "Laughs-out-loud" Morgan (perhaps not inappropriate considering some of the performances we put out in those days, although considering he had to sell top scorer Hughie Curran, he presumably faced the same financial pressures as most of our subsequent managers). Anyway, here''s a mention of him from last year, when he returned to Feethams to lead out the Darlington team he managed in ''66. Looks like he''s very fondly remembered in that part of the world. The article mentions that after being sacked by us he scouted for Spurs, then went to work for the brewery as mentioned by Barclay Boy, and is now retired. http://www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk/the_north_east/sport/football/darlington/news/200103a.html
