1. I used to enjoy this message board. Now it just makes me sad.
2. Perspective, please!!!Good performance this weekend and, yeah, 99% chance we won''t catch up 8 points in as many games, but we''ve still got a good squad and a guaranteed place in the Championship next season. In my view, for Norwich the Premiership has proven to be the poisoned challace that many people talk about, only instead of messing us up financially, it''s just screwed with the heads of our fans. I''d certainly rather our current fortunes to Southampton''s... And to think at the start of last season they were a stable and established Premier League club!
3. In an almost identical position to us... In the division below.Almost makes me feel blessed by our current fortunes!
4. I think it was a 3-0 defeat to Norway, or someone else good, in front of a record crowd for a womens international (from what i remember) - although I wasn''t one of them.
5.
exactly, I find it scandolous that MadDan accuses me of being anti the board - I I would like him to find a single post where I critisize them. I want the manager out, his coaching staff and the scouts, that is all.  I may feel the board ios not very ambitious but I dont control the purse strings and I am sure they are doing their best for this club.
Not quite what I was getting at. I tend to agree with most of MadDan''s views on this - perhaps "anti-club" is a harsh tag for the majority of those against Worthy. However, without making comment on your particular views, my beef is with those who constantly slate and misrepresent the board, whilst making out that this view is shared by the majority of fans... In particular those who endlessly accused the board of lying over the Dean Ashton sale. (What did they lie about??? His injury? That they would only sell him for "silly money"? That they didn''t release full details of the sale? Or was it because they didn''t give media updates at every stage of the private and sensitive negotiations behind the scenes?) I honestly couldn''t undertand the motivation of these people other than to stir up unfounded hatred of the board.
6.
Unfortunately there are also those like Paul Rankine who will claim allegiance to the club yet use any opportunity to put it in a bad light. Even the thread on here where he states that Paul McVeigh has not been offered a new contract without him having even bothered to check the facts. He previously posted up a dreadful libellous piece about the club, making all manner of unfounded claims of financial irregularities. Thankfully it was taken down pretty quickly.
This reminds me of where my views diverge from the hardliners of the so-called "worthy out brigade", and probably those who fit into your "anti-club" category.People can say what they like about Worthy''s achievements. Call for his head if they want. But those who start calling for the heads of the board??? Now those are the views that I really struggle to relate to.... We probably have one of the most fan-friendly boards in football, and I don''t doubt for one second that they all dearly care about the success of the club, no matter what their position happens to be on the manager... Maybe they HAVE made a bad judgement call.... But they can in NO WAY be compared to the board of the Chase-Era as an increasing minority seem to be doing now. These are NOT the views of the majority... Yet some now seem to try and present them as such.My message to these people... Say what you like by all means, but NOT IN OUR NAMES!!
7.
From the bookies point of view the equivalent would be chelsea being in 8th or 9th this season with no chance of the UEFA cup thats how unacceptable this season has been.
I''ve slowly been tending towards the "worthy has had his chance" camp. But I''m sorry, these kind of irrational statements completely undermine your arguements that your expectations as fans are realistic. We are in no way whatsoever the "Chelsea" of the Championship - for one thing the top 4/5 in the Prem play in a league of their own. Our current position is definitely disappointing, but neither surprising nor wholly unexpected. Sad (and ashame), but true.
8.
The man is rightly recalled for his contribution to the club but as a loyal legend he cant hold a candle to flem.
I know I''ve quoted you out of context, but would be interesting to have Flem in charge, or as assistant... Would get him off the pitch for one thing... And he knows the club/team inside out.
9. So they get their big story, they sell their papers, life goes on. These kind of people don''t see themselves as moral crusaders anyway, they just use that line to get publicity and, guess what, sell papers. My advice would be to just ignore them and it''ll all go away - I would have given the same advice to the so called "muslim world" (tho the papers are only really interested in a minority of extremists) over the whole "prophet cartoons" debacle. Btw. am I the only Muslim on this board??? (though it''s quite besides the point)
10. I think that the main point seems to have been missed somewhere along the way in this thread.Whether you agree with fans mixing together or not, the fact is that the Ipswich fans referred to were simply trying to wind the home fans up,  and it is something that should have been referred to the stewards to deal with. Full stop... This isn''t about vigilante justice! Not to say that the other debates aren''t relevant, but the incident itself seems pretty much an open-shut case.
11. Can''t see us getting anywhere in the African Cup of Nations based on their past record.
12. At the end of the day, "manager" doesn''t really mean quite the same thing in this context. However, in my experience, someone like Souness is typical of a business manager - always looking out for number one, always "right", unwilling to compromise, and just a bit of an all round cock-muncher. It''s rare that you''d get someone like Pearce in a business management environment, however effective he might be.... too much of a "team-player" to get a leg-up.
13. Definitely put a smile on my face... tho partly because I was 99.9% convinced this morning that we weren''t going to get anyone!Even if we don''t make the playoffs I think Earnshaw, at worst, is at least someone who will keep most of his value. At best, he''s the player that City have been missing since Bellamy left.... I''d be happy with something in between. With Earnshaw and Johannson in, I guess the question now is where the rest of our dozen or so strikers fit in!
14.
what an opportunity missed. we could have given ashton a cut price Andy Hughes to keep his morale up and to carry his golf clubs. damn
Genius!Seriously though, the chance of getting a cut of the profit is probably the single thing that kept Ashton''s mouth shut long enough for City to negotiate the highest price possible. How many times have we seen want-away players go for significantly less than their market value??
15. sorry.... one of two things has happened there....1. I don''t read the board enough before posting.2. I did read the joke before but forgot it because it was rubbish.... but then it came back to mind and I thought it was mine. Anyway.... enough.... and sorry for promoting this back to the top of the board!
16. Nigel Worthington!! Always has something to winge about.(sorry, couldn''t resist)
17. Sorry, reading it back I was a bit personal with that response. To be honest, you''re not a million miles from the truth, but I haven''t the slightest doubt that Greeno has suffered as a result of the inconsistent and generally poor line-ups in front of him, and has generally been the strongest link in the defence over the past season and a half. But he''ll probably benefit from a little while on the sidelines, which of course means Ward will get a chance to show what he can do.And I wasn''t saying that Green''s place is automatic... just that he has done enough to get his place back unless we see a major change in defensive fortunes.
18. I expect that a lot of the level-headed fans out there just decide to steer clear when these kinds of topics come up.
19. Mrs. Gren - the acronym for the 7 signs of a "living" organism.M - ovementR - espirationS - ensitivityG - rowthR - eproductionE - xcretionN - utritionSeriously though. Half of what you say is bollocks. True, Greeno has not been his best over the past 18 months, but he has been demoralised by the poor defence in front of him for the most part of that time and not the other way around... And his stats for the prem suggested that he made a hell of a lot of saves - even as a percentage of shots - it was just the sheer number that he had to deal with that let him down.Of course, give Ward a go, it doesn''t look like there''s a choice, but unless he makes a dramatic difference, the No.1 jersey should pretty much be Green''s by right when he recovers. Also, perhaps the tealady would have stopped the goal, but I fear Andy Marshall wouldn''t have done.
20. Sounds like I misjudged that one then! However, all I can find anywhere is that there''s a 20% sell on clause without a mention that it would only come out of profits. Where did you get your info?
21. In the region of 25% goes back to Crewe I believe, so to suggest the club would sell him even for 7mil seems unlikely to me. That would only work out at around a 1mil profit on a player that has now proven that he can stick it with the big guns in the Prem.Only way I see it happening is if Pompey''s new-found cash comes into play or a quality player-plus-cash deal comes in from another top flight club.Even if Ashton wants to go, I''m convinced that the club will persuade him to stay til the end of the season if they don''t get the right big-money offer now.
22. Nice to see the debate hotting up again! To those that are saying Adams knows more than he is letting on. He said Ashton will go for 6-7 million, yet we all seem to be agreed that the club want a lot more than that... Just read a few of Worthy''s statements.I think the only other possibility is that Man City might offer 6million PLUS Robbie Fowler or something like that. I think people may have been suggesting this already.
23. Am I the only one that can''t see Ashton leaving in January? Listening to Radio Norfolk and it seems to be the only topic for discussion. The summary... 1. Ashton will leave 2. The price will be 6-7 million and no more For me, these simply don''t add up. We paid around 4 million for him, so profit would only be 2-3 mil for starters. Look at it like this... 1. Ashton signed a new contract and has made no suggestion that he intends to leave. 2. The club made it clear for starters that they expect higher offers than received in the summer. 3. Speculation of his impending departure started around rumours of offers for 10 million. 4. It seems clear that offers like this will not be coming in (ie. Man City seem unlikely to raise their offer), so statements 1 and 2 clearly take precedence. For me, this whole sherbang revolves around media speculation and, without a VERY HIGH offer, Ashton will not be leaving. Any thoughts???
24.
yes but he has said he is comitted to Norwich UNTIL january
That''s definitely not what it says on his contract
