Seems there are still glitches with the new app as link to web feed doesn't take you right through to the feed itself but freezes on heading only. On an Android phone.

The app looks great but is less intuitive to use (comment, stay logged in etc.) on an android device than its predecessor. Needs more work.

We're in the playoffs! (This time for real)
Grick replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Maybe Delia needs a 'lets be 'avin you' plea to the players after todays no show. Wagner needs to get some fire in their bellies as they look devoid of passion and a will to win (games, 2nd balls, foot races etc.). Unfortunately the team are a reflection of Wagner himself, a nice chap but a little dull. Ferguson had hair dryer moments, you'd expect Wagner to have little drafts. -
Having been at today's game and assuming all these pro's train together in Wagner's methodology, my concern is that the longer he has to embed his philosophy of ultra cautious, focus on not losing rather than winning football the harder it will be to implement change. Today's game saw numerous examples of opportunties wasted and player frustration. Such as when the ball was played back to Long and we had the rare opportunity of 3 attackers against 2 defenders just beyond the halfway line - one long ball over the top and an overload possible, not us, Long sticks to the script, ball played sideways until all their defenders are back on station. I lost count of Sainz's little runs into space that either weren't seen or ignored in preference of the safer option. Football is a risk & reward game, no risk = no reward (payslips excluded obviously!).

Slowness seems to define NCFC at all levels at present. Slow in getting forward, slow to get back and defend, slow to make tactical changes when required, slow to make decisions re. coaching, slow to engage with supporters on the new master plan to take us forward, etc. One thing that hurts opponents is pace and while other teams have it and use it constructively we are being left behind literally. We flip too easily from being confident in taking the club forward to fear of getting it wrong - from the Board, through the coaching staff to the players on the pitch. A byproduct of octagenarian owners and a team with a higher than most average age maybe? Knapper & Attanasio need to lead a reset to address this now not in 2/3 years when Delia & Michael, who are at risk of tarnishing their legacy from the great things they have done for the club, hand over the reins.

Message to DW, out with the current Calamity Couple and in with Batth & Warner.

What are the odds on a defeat to Ipswich in the home game in April being the result to send us down? Doesn't bear thinking about.

Looking at NCFC under Farke, Smith & Wagner has demonstrated that we are not a team that can cope without a star player, look at Farke's record without Buendia, Smith with a misfiring Pukki & no Skipp type player and Wagner without Sarge/Barnes. This is what exposes us to injury risks and individual form. As a collective we are a midtable championship team who can punch above their weight when said 'star' is on it but are exposed for what they are when they go missing. With the current team they should be better than the sum of its parts and this is where Wagner should be adding that element but unfortunately is struggling. Other teams/managers see teams pull together when a key player gets injured but we just seem to look at each other and hope someone else can pick up the mantle rather than taking collective responsibility. This has its roots in our recruitment policy. It is also worth noting that we lack leaders on the pitch with Barnes, Hanley etc. out and the team find themselves in a rut with no clear way out of it apparant. Other managers/teams have found that e.g. Carrick at Middlesborough, Farke at Leeds, Martin at Southampton.

I’ve had enough of Wagner but if he is to stay then

I'd be interested to know how people rate Ogwuru in the U21's. Someone looking to break into the first team fairly quickly or another slow burner like Idah potentially looking down the loan route? I appreciate that not all MCFC youngsters are Fodens in waiting but I'd have thought he had something going for him with that background. Worth a spot on the bench now given our dearth of attacking options? -
Eustace from Birmingham, sacked with a team in top 6 for a bigger 'name'.

What about Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries as used in Apocolypse Now? -
The silver lining for next year is that we won't be a favourite for promotion and more teams will come to Carrow Road on the front foot rather than to defend deep. May suit us better if we can get the ball forward quicker. The start will be crucial.

Since he has adopted the 80/20 rule (80% of passes must be backwards) his stock has plummeted. Put him in team that allows him to range forward with options up front to pass to and he could rediscover his form.

McLean & Krul liability waiting to happen
Grick replied to Rhino1's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
The way our defence play with short passes, looking back / sideways rather than forward and always inviting pressure you almost provide the opposition with an extra attacker. After 6 minutes today we lost 2 key facets of a good team: confidence & pace and we never looked like a top half, let alone top 6 team. -
Roberto Martinez anyone? 🙂

We know that but does Stuart 'Bonnington' Webber?

I'm waiting to see if Gareth will leave the England job. (poor deluded fool).

Feed the Pukki and he will score
Grick replied to lake district canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
The irony is that DS is having to face up to the fact that for all the recruitment etc. he has not been able to find a player to replace the last player to form a partnership with Teemu, a certain Emi Buendia. What he'd give for him still being here. We must accept that and find a new style of play that the current crop of players can implement that gets the ball forward much quicker and not spend most of the time passing around in front of their back 4 or 5 looking for that killer pass that we just don't have in our armoury. -
If Bielsa gets the Bournemouth job I'd rather see Gary O'Neill in as our manager, achieved more than Parker with the same squad and knows the club.
-
There's a lot of talk on here about DS not knowing his best 11. But who would you choose now, based on the first 3 games? Suggested in a 4-1-4-1. Gunn Byram Omobidele Hanley Giannoulis Hayden Nunez Cantwell Sara Sinani Hugill/Pukki (if the latter's drive is still there?) Okay, some of these need to bed in and/or recover from injury. What worries me is that the constant team changes are leaving players looking over their shoulder rather than forward to a prolonged period in the 1st team building a team ethic and confidence. It is hard to judge NCFC currently when we are narrowly missing points with a 50% 2nd string team (accepting that this should still be good enough).

The good. The bad. And the ugly
Grick replied to Dean Coneys boots's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Still waiting for a 'fistful of dollars' or at least 'a few dollars more' from sales or investment to find a healthy i.e. not injured, creative, goal scoring midfielder to help the Goat and lessen the load! Without one Hugill seems the better option as a target man up front. -
22-23 Championship- The teams
Grick replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Will be a while since the Friendly Cup was up for grabs. With our relegation & Sunderland's promotion I assume this will be on the cards over the 2 games? -
Given the choice would fans prefer the recent history of Burnley, frequently flirting with relegation with objectives limited to survival, Norwich with the mix of good times (promotion) and bad times (insipid relegation), or Nottingham Forest with perpetual hope of promotion but ultimate disappointment when they miss out? Over time, a fan's view is that all are palatable as long as the team have a clear philosophy and entertaining style play. The issue for NCFC this season is the loss of such a philosophy and style and genuine concern that we will become a lower Championship side without the belief that a shot at promotion is achievable.

Where will we finish next season?
Grick replied to Dean Coneys boots's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
This season has proved that the current squad are not Premier League standard so, given that DS will want a quick return to the Prem on his CV, I hope to see a few more physical, athletic players added to the mix in key areas, that could mix it in the top flight. If, and its a big if, we acheive that I see no reason not to expect a top 6 finish with a better equipped squad for the Prem already in the making. I would say the next 3 months are more important to NCFC's medium term future than the first couple of months of next season.
