1. But its not just as simple as the budget, you have to take into account the general upheaval of the comings and goings within the squad. McCarthy might''ve done better, he might''ve done worse, we are merely speculating though aren''t we.

  2. Just wondered the general consensus of the WC squad, personally I''m quite a fan of the selection, and good to see Southgate not being the "Yes Man" like so many previous coaches and including youngsters and getting rid of the older players..

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley).

    Defenders:

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Fabian Delph

(Manchester City), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Harry Maguire

(Leicester), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), John Stones (Manchester

City), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Manchester

    City), Ashley Young (Manchester United).

    Midfielders: Dele

Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan

Henderson (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben

    Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea).

    Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham),

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City),

Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).

    Standby:

Lewis Cook (Bournemouth), Tom Heaton (Burnley), Adam Lallana

(Liverpool), Jake Livermore (West Brom), James Tarkowski (Burnley).

  3.

Oliveira in particular as a striker, has failed to deliver - and that is down to him, not the tactics>
So how come CJ couldn''t hit a barn door under Farke but is now scoring for fun again?

    Tactics me thinks
7 in 21 starts is hardly "scoring for fun". Having said that, I do wish our current crop could score at that rate of fun..

  4.
I see no relevance in a budget to how a manager prefers his team to play. That is Farkes preferred style of play and his teams would play that way if his budget were 100k or £100 million. The difference being that the quality and end product increases as the quality of player increases. Do we now believe that if Mick McCarthy had, had a huge budget at Ipswich then his team would have played a cultured game? Of cause they wouldn’t have, it would have been a far more effective long ball game with greater end product.
The budget makes no difference... look at Man city and give your head a shake..

  5.
LDC reckons we’re still in with a chance, well by the end of this period we will know :

Brentford away , good footballing side, scores lots of goals - prediction loss

Middlesbrough home, Pullis has been there two weeks and has already sorted them out, very hard to beat - prediction draw

Derby away, got there act together now, you know what’s coming, goals by Cam and BJ- prediction loss

Ipswich home, the run has got to end sometime, two big buggers up front- prediction loss

Wolves away, only going to be one result here, Ruddy and Bennett will keep us out - prediction loss

That’s one point out of fifteen, season over !
Well.. 3 of the 1 point predicted in the bag! OTBC!

  6. Having watched the dross performance against Brentford, it left me thinking what can AN do with the tactics to get the best out of the players? I came up with this.. don''t shoot me down right away...

    Ruddy

    Turner Bassong Cuellar

    E. Bennett Olsson

    Tettey Johnson

    Hooper Redmond

    Jerome

I''m trying to think outside the box, and believe it could work, we seem to have the players capable of the positions. I''d be quite interested to hear others thoughts on it...
