  1. Plus the £10m he paid for the C-Pref shares. The deal is a lot more nuanced than Southwell portrays.
  2. It would appear that the state of Arizona also contributed around $5.7m towards costs of the renovation.
  3. The Brewers signed a 25-year lease and committed a maximum of $63m for renovations of the Spring Training complex, but the City of Phoenix made an immediate $10m contribution and will hand over $60.6m to operate it ($1.4m p.a with an annual 4% increase.) Again, nothing coming out of Attanasio's pocket.
  4. The Brewers made an (est) PROFIT of USD 22m in 2022. So 1) it doesn't really matter what they pay Yelich (or any player, really) and 2) Attanasio will not have contributed a dime towards this! The expectation that Attanasio is going to be our Jack Walker or Roman Abramovich is entirely without foundation, indeed the evidence from the US is that owners of sports clus are primarily interested in making their investment more attractive for the inevitable sale, at minimal cost to themselves.
  5. I don't think it was ever ripped up and thrown away but I suspect we were relying on one of our 2021 signings coming good & being sold on for Buendia-esque money - and that clearly didn't happen. As for wages, we have always overpaid, but now the fiscal commitments of post-PL seasons are beyond us.
  6. I'm amazed that the insurance company didn't write it off
  7. TBF, the administration of the NCFC Shareholders' Register is not beyond criticism. Was Adam Drury really untraceable? Or Iwan Roberts? The main thrust of my point was that many of the 2003/04 squad purchased shares, something that doesn't appear to be widely known.
  8. The last time the shareholders was published at least 3% of Ordinary holders were listed as "mvd", so presumably out of contact. I would be amazed if this % has not increased, in the four years since.
  9. Re the "all shareholderes are fans" assumption; I would love to know the voting intentions of the following: Paul Crichton, Paul Heckingbottom, Marc LIbbra, Brian McGovern, Noah Holm Nielsen, Alex Notman & Marc LIbbra [This is a purely hypothetical question, because all of the above were listed as "mvd", meaning they probably won't be receiving any of the correspondence....]
  10. This view was likely 1960s Up until (at least) 1959 the main advertisement above the goal was "Steward & Patterson" And floodlights weren't installed until October 1956.
  11. I love the way that Moshiri has conveniently forgotten the spectacular failure of his "spend big" ownership blueprint
  12. Probably the opening match of CR (has to be before Nov 1936 because the Thorpe End is uncovered)
  13. And, IIRC, didn't Watling bravely declare that NCFC would never again be owned by one individual? For better or for worse, I believe D&M have had far greater control (via shares) than any previous Directors of NCFC.
  14. 60% of (US) Fortune 500 companies are incorporated in Delaware. If the US tax authorities really saw this as a "red flag" wouldn't they do something about it? [The commercial arm of the BBC is incorporated in Delaware, and has been since the mid-1980s] There is a big difference between efficient tax arrangements (e.g being Incorporated in a low-tax state) and cheating the system (e.g. not declaring income)
  15. After the 58/59 Cup Run the South Stand was extended & roofed. For a short while it was known as 'The Supporters' Stand' - see pic - but this title didn't stick.
  16. For a few seasons the Springall boys used to sit (near me) in the old Main Stand; above the tunnel, about four rows from the back.
  17. I am guessing it ebbs & flows, depending on talent already at the club. 2019/20 saw the following Academy recruitment: Adshead (Rochdale, £300k; 0 first-team apps) Bushiri (Belgium, £?, 0) Fitzpatrick (Sco, £350k, 0) Mair (Sco, £?, unused sub ) Nizet (Belgium, £nom, 0 ) McAlear (Sco £250k, 1 sub) Omotoye (London, 4 subs) Tomkinson (USA, £?, 3)
  18. Kamara, Rowe, Springett & Warner have all been with NCFC for nine years or more. Which I think reflects well on the club's long-term scouting & development. It must be remembered that the pool of local talent in E Anglia is small [Beds, Cambs, Essex, Herts, Hunt, Nfk & Sfk combined have less than half the population of Greater London (6.8m v 14.8m)]. And the Norfolk pool is absolutely tiny. Of the 1263 footballers to have represented England just SEVEN were born in Nelson's County
  19. You are not the first to believe Chivers was a loan, but he was actually a perm signing.
  20. Southwell & Davitt also noted that the entire team were substantially below par. It was Barnes' worst display since his arrival but I don't hear anyone suggesting that he be dropped.
  21. Maybe, but the OP thinks so little of Idah that he would select an orthodox midfielder instead!
  22. Delap has a full season in the Champs already under his belt, and has played for Citeh in the PL (against Norwich, ironically) Scarlett has a full season for Portsmouth under his belt. I agree, in general, that the NCFC Academy is under-represented in youth squads but I don't think Rowe's very short-lived form puts him straight into the U21s
  23. We have eight or ten squad players who need minutes in their legs and who also need the opportunity to put presure on those getting into the first-team ahead of them. Would you rather they got these minutes: a) against the Chelsea U21s, in a stadium that is 90% empty (or played at a training complex). in a competition where there is no jeopardy of relegation / promotion? OR b) in the LC, where it's win or go home (metaphorically) and playing in a stadium that might be 50% full?
  24. Chivers was not a loan. We bought his registration from Servette and then dumped him after just five months. But, agreed, he was a disappointment. I suppose there are only so many bargain-bucket signings that pay off.
  25. This kind of situation - pandering to fans' groups in the name of atmosphere - is what led to long-term Palace ST holders being evicted from their centrally-located seats because they weren''t deemed hip enough to be part of the Holmesdale Ultras section (see also Celtic's Green Brigade and their belief that they can do whatever they want) A slippery slope.
