  1. No inside knowledge, as such, but Rose has been first choice for Cheshunt since mid-July! I suppose it could be a half-season deal but, if I'm being honest, a full-season loan to this level is often a signal of the Exit door coming into view.
  2. Between 1992 & 1994 Chase hoovered up around 10% of the fully allotted shares, presumably by approaching individuals like yourself (and offering a pittance!)
  3. Joe Rose is on a Season-Long Loan at Cheshunt. But it's a secret, so don't tell anyone! 😀 Tom D-P is on a short-term loan at Woking (to Oct 26) And I'm gonna be 'that' guy.... 4. Here's some history: Oct 1984: Main Stand burned down. At this point Chase was a Director (& largest shareholder) but Arthur South was Chairman Sept 1985: Tender for replacement stand accepted from R G Carter. The new stand was to cost almost exactly what the insurance payout had been. Sept 1985: Jimmy Jones resigned from the Board, protesting that selection of Carter had been done without "proper financial prudence". [There may also have been a personal relationship between Arthur South & 'widow' Carter at the time] Nov 1985: Contract for new stand signed with Carter. Jones then called for an EGM and, as a result, the entire Board resigned. Dec 1985: A new Board was proposed. This excluded South but included Chase, Jimmy Jones & Roger Munby. Jan 1986: The new Board was voted in by shareholders. The Board voted Chase as Chairman. [Details sourced from 'The Archive', by James Woodrow. Every serious City fan should own a copy]
  5. Here are a few reasons why I rank D&M far above the Fat Controller: Outside their initial investment D&M have given plenty of cash to NCFC (via donations & conversion of loans). Chase never put another penny into the club. D&M have never taken a salary from NCFC. Chase paid himself for "Technical Services", as well drawing an emolument as Director. D&M's exit strategy - as far as we can tell - is based around them turning down the opportunity to massively enrich themselves. In his last year as Director (1996) Chase pocketed around 9% of the club's entire payroll [£83,670 emolument plus £137k "compensation for loss of office"] I am going to take a fair guess that the price he extracted from Watling for those 47,000-odd shares was higher than what he initially paid.
  6. From the official website: "Norwich City forward Jonathan Rowe has signed a new contract at the club through to the summer of 2025." As you say, no mention anywhere of the club option. The volume of contract renewals has slowed to a crawl, certainly in comparison to 2019 & 2020. A lack of cash? Waiting for new investment? Waiting for Webber's replacement?
  7. I specifically said promotion, achieved by regularly spending over 150% of their income on wages It is clear that closing their Academy offered a (short-term) financial benefit to Brentford. T
  8. "...an established EPL side" Don't make me laugh. They are in their third season. Having a B team makes zero difference to losing talent to bigger clubs. Brentford wanted it both ways; they didn't want to fund an Academy but were happy to recruit youngsters from other (small) clubs that were part of the Academy system. And now the PL (& UEFA) have called their bluff by making it mandatory to have an Academy set-up https://www.brentfordfc.com/en/news/article/brentford-to-open-academy
  9. I suspect the real reason for Brentford ditching their Academy was so that Benham could funnel all his spare cash into their wage-fuelled promotion. And now that they need to keep within FFP Brentford are planning to re-open their Academy.
  10. Absolutely nothing unusual here. Young players move around within the Academy system all the time, but the lack of media reporting hides it. Barden, Gunn, Aarons, Tomkinson, Springett, Idah, Omobamidele, Brooke, Eze, Reindorf, St Paul, Stewart, Watt, Welch, Ansen, Giller, McCabe, Pinyoun, Renecke, Roberts & Fields are just some of those who have moved to (or away from) NCFC as kids.
  11. I believe that, intitially it was "Liverpoool ...." but then changed their name due to Utd's better League placings (& more frequent inclusion on live matches) FYI, this is a (partial) list of City fanzines from the 80s & 90s: A Fine City; Attack; The Beautiful Barclay; Cheep Shot; The Citizen; Ferry Cross The Wensum; I Can Drive A Tractor; Liverpool Are On The Tele Agan / Man Utd.... (name change at issues #37, 38 or 39); Never Mind The Danger; Sing When We're Ploughin', Spud International & Y'Army Anyone wanna nominate any others?
  12. Slightly tangential, admittedly, but one of the Attanasio 'boarding party' of May 2022 has moved on to pastures new. David Stearns, previously President of Business Ops at the Brewers, has taken that role at the NY Mets. So I doubt he'll be taking that second seat on the NCFC Board.
  13. The phrase "Delia Smith owns NCFC" was never completely accurate, but was widely used & accepted as a reasonable interpretation of the situation . I believe the same applies to Attanasio. The Milwaukee Brewers were sold to a group headed by Mark Attanasio. The group included locals who had been part of the previous ownership, as well as Mates of Mark. The Brewers ownership group is said be around sixteen. Reports from 2005 suggest that Attanasio's individual ownership slice was just "45%". And, if new investors have been brought in, then that figure may now be even lower. And, closer to home, even 'Norfolk' (the investment vehicle) isn't just Attanasio. 27.9% is owned by Richard Ressler - who is prob part-owner of the Brewers - with a further 16% owned by other minor parties So can we please stop thinking that Attanasio is our Abramovich or Jack Walker.
  14. Plus the £10m he paid for the C-Pref shares. The deal is a lot more nuanced than Southwell portrays.
  15. It would appear that the state of Arizona also contributed around $5.7m towards costs of the renovation.
  16. The Brewers signed a 25-year lease and committed a maximum of $63m for renovations of the Spring Training complex, but the City of Phoenix made an immediate $10m contribution and will hand over $60.6m to operate it ($1.4m p.a with an annual 4% increase.) Again, nothing coming out of Attanasio's pocket.
  17. The Brewers made an (est) PROFIT of USD 22m in 2022. So 1) it doesn't really matter what they pay Yelich (or any player, really) and 2) Attanasio will not have contributed a dime towards this! The expectation that Attanasio is going to be our Jack Walker or Roman Abramovich is entirely without foundation, indeed the evidence from the US is that owners of sports clus are primarily interested in making their investment more attractive for the inevitable sale, at minimal cost to themselves.
  18. I don't think it was ever ripped up and thrown away but I suspect we were relying on one of our 2021 signings coming good & being sold on for Buendia-esque money - and that clearly didn't happen. As for wages, we have always overpaid, but now the fiscal commitments of post-PL seasons are beyond us.
  19. I'm amazed that the insurance company didn't write it off
  20. TBF, the administration of the NCFC Shareholders' Register is not beyond criticism. Was Adam Drury really untraceable? Or Iwan Roberts? The main thrust of my point was that many of the 2003/04 squad purchased shares, something that doesn't appear to be widely known.
  21. The last time the shareholders was published at least 3% of Ordinary holders were listed as "mvd", so presumably out of contact. I would be amazed if this % has not increased, in the four years since.
  22. Re the "all shareholderes are fans" assumption; I would love to know the voting intentions of the following: Paul Crichton, Paul Heckingbottom, Marc LIbbra, Brian McGovern, Noah Holm Nielsen, Alex Notman & Marc LIbbra [This is a purely hypothetical question, because all of the above were listed as "mvd", meaning they probably won't be receiving any of the correspondence....]
  23. This view was likely 1960s Up until (at least) 1959 the main advertisement above the goal was "Steward & Patterson" And floodlights weren't installed until October 1956.
  24. I love the way that Moshiri has conveniently forgotten the spectacular failure of his "spend big" ownership blueprint
