  1. Talking to my dad about a bloke both he and my grandad knew. I can remember everyone calling him 'Tex' back when I was a kid. Found out today it was a nickname, and he got it because he went on holiday to America, once.
  2. You must have been mashed 24/7 😉 Alternatively, if you're just talking about substituting an alcoholic drink for a zero alcohol drink there are some pretty good options now. 0% Ghost ship is pretty good too if you drink ales.
  3. It was a huge personal disappointment to find out Bob Vylan was from, and even worse, supports Ipsquit. But, 'He's a man' would be a good theme tune for any stone island wearing moron.
  4. Let's not forget that we had a manager who smashed the championship twice, but was never poached by a 'bigger' side, although we are a bigger club than Ipsquit. One year getting their backsides pummelled week in week out may not do his reputation any favours, and he'll know that. Rob Edwards in my opinion has done a fantastic job, but they are going down, with credit. Vincent Kompany also going down, schools out. Heckingbottom, will probably resurface in the lower eschelons of the championship and won't get another PL job. Could be disasterous for their manager if he hangs around to be the whipping boy.

😅 it would be fair to say that the red mist escaped this morning. I had a train to catch so she was lucky as I should have gone to the police. Back the cameras go on my bike. I used to have the cameras on all the time but some scumbags at the station have paid the bike extra attention due to the waterproof cases I left on there (cameras removed). Cycling's good for you they say, but not your blood pressure.

Just to log for absolutely no one else's benefit other than my own need to vent. I had a woman take such exception to me filtering past her in a queue of traffic this morning she actually, from being stationary, drove her car into the back of my bike hitting the panniers. She'd previously overtaken me, doing over the speed limit in a 20mph section, and swerved in-front of me in a strange act to display her displeasure at having to drive around and not through me. So, if your wife/daughter/sister/neighbour drives a maroon Mazda2 and goes through Mousehold at 7.35/40. You can let her know I hope she has chronic trapped wind. On a more serious note - she needs to get some help, or be locked up.
  7. Why Pukka pies didn't capitalise on Teemu's status and come up with a (curried) GOAT filling I've got no idea.
  8. Call Jeff Goldblum. Life has, err, found a way.
  9. Luke Ayling does worse than that multiple times every game I've ever seen him play. Might get evened up after half time once the ref has seen it.
  10. Only managed 1 goal in the last double game week in fantasy football. Proper irritated me that did.
  11. I wasn't sat on the bench. In fact, I think they probably need a few more seats, I must see if they will accomodate me. It's not to say it wasn't the right decision based upon the player's condition. Actually, in the lead up to those changes Sainz and Barnes were the two looking most tired, and Sara was having a bit of a stinker. Had any or all three have been hooked it would have been understandable. But from the perspective of someone who was at the game without commentary or replays, and given DW's propensity for puzzling changes, with very little credit in the bank, as things were happening it seemed bizarre. And from that perspective, the reaction was in some ways understandable, even if I don't agree with it.
  12. With the benefit of hindsight and the final score, the booing seems idiotic. But sat there watching the momentum of the game slip away from us then removing the two most effective players on the night certainly seemed complete lunacy. I didn't boo, but there were definitely people in the South Stand who took offence to those subs and were booing. It doesn't take many motivated voices to start to resonate around the stadium, especially once the part of the lizard brain kicks in. TBH I was just really sad to see Onel have to traipse round the pitch to boos when actually he'd had a very good game. No way should he have been hooked for Fassnacht at that point in the game. Terrible decicision at the time, but DW got lucky.
  13. I don't bet, and never have, so those brands were totally invisible to me. Given the reporting and evidence of how damaging gambling addiction can be, that photo really shows that the commercial side of football does need a head wobble. The more I look at it the more obscene it becomes. Sorry Daniel, love you.
  14. Has Ben Knapper got a dog? No one asks the important questions in interviews these days.
  15. Did alright with players of similar stature from the German 2nd division. I don't think any signings would be made with a Harry Redknapp back of a fag packet list and a conversation with the player's uncle's milkman. If anything is true it's probably over-analysed and strategised now.
  16. In his few brief cameos he has shown decent delivery from wide areas that with Sargent and Barnes should be a weapon. Just isn't our game and his minutes would always be limited as a result. Good luck to him if he goes.
  17. Prior to the ball coming in Duffy hands over Bamford I think, you see him do it on the highlights. James should have never had as long as he did to be able to play that ball, we had two players on him and one should have closed the space but both looked scared of getting skinned. It happens, I don't think there is an individual error as such by anyone, more disorganisation of 4 players.
  18. First half definitely. Leicester should have walked in 4-0 up game over. They came into the game second half but still look like a well organised group of ordinary players, not much talent there but I guess that's why they are playing where they are playing.
  19. 100% there are gains to be had through higher end equipment, but like watching a good film on a black and white television, good writing (song or screenplay) really cuts through any equipment. That's where my head is at, I'm just buying older stuff that I know is timeless and the reproduction becomes less relevant. There must be some kind of curve where the marginal gains per £ spent become imperceptible. Especially when you're in your 40s and been in bands for 25 years, there may be a bit of top end missing! There was a thing on QI where, if you know how a song should sound, if the elements of that tune are missing your brain fills them in so you think you heard them anyway.
  20. Yes, my dad has a far better setup with some floor standing speaker cabinets and the sound is lovely (celestion cones), but the Mrs bought me a turntable with an integrated amp. I am a little of an audiophile (a sleeping side of me since having kids) and the lack of flexibility did fill me with dread, but I've embraced the gift for what it is. I have swapped the speakers over for some 90s JVC bookshelfs I'd horded which pair up nicely with the amps output and actually it's pretty good (the speakers supplied were terrible). But for me, it's just as much about giving myself some headspace and listening to stuff that the artist has written as a piece and not pick'n'mix listening.
  21. It's been at least 25 years since I last had an operational record player. Back in the game due to a Christmas present from the Mrs. Yes, the sound is not the same as the range you get through a CD or a good stream, but there's something more zen about listening to an album without the temptation to skip. Having developed a bit of an obsession buying stuff on 12", my current squeeze is Dig Lazurus Dig by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. All killer. Oh and a 70s pressed motown compilation I bought for 99p! The other side of it all is I cannot believe how expensive vinyl is now. January 324th and I am skint.
  22. Idah's penalty was a far better hit than it was described by Phil. Sounded like he'd put it down the centre but squirmed in off the keeper. That was well placed with power and the keeper did very well to touch it.
  23. Cameron Jerome ambled out into flowing traffic in front of me staring at his mobile phone forcing me to emergency brake. Standard level of awareness from the lad and no apology, the wally. As a kid saw Arsenal's Anders Limpar at a petrol station near Bury St. Edmunds. How's that for one from the left-field!
