Plenty have gone backwards.
...this would be why we signed Ashton for £3.5m and sold him for £7.25m, would it?  Not sure he improved that much under us, but people inside the game clearly think he did!!
He did well despite Worthy rather than because of in my opinion
So, hang on - if things are going wrong, it''s Worthy''s fault, but if players improve it wasn''t down to Worthington. You can''t have it both ways - you could just accept that, whilst he''s lucky to still be in the job, he still gets the occasional thing right. How can Ashton improve without Worthy''s help? He played in his team for 12 months! Surely any improvement during that time is a direct result of Worthington...
Ashton is a quality player and would have done well regardless of the manger/team etc. People don''t actually need other people to make improvement, for example at Uni there were a few units I did well in despite having poor lecturers, alot of my improvement and good grades were down to my hard work and I think its the same with Ashton. I personally think he would have been alot better under different management.
Almost everything that''s gone wrong over the last couple of seasons has, rightly, been blamed on Worthington - his poor signings, bizarre tactics, poor quality of football. He is ultimately responsible for everything that''s gone wrong on the pitch. So, if we''re going to blame him for that, we must also acknowledge when he gets things right, which is what you refuse to do when you say that Ashton improved "despite Worthy rather than because of...". Ashton came here a bright young talent that many weren''t prepared to risk in the Premiership. Worthington took that risk where others weren''t so bold - and it nearly kept us up - then sells him 12 months later for more than twice what we paid for him. He came here a young hopeful (signed by Worthy), and left a player who''d proven his ability at the highest level (having been played by Worthy). Surely that''s an improvement? Whilst he''s done a lot wrong, I think credit should be given where it''s due.

3. Would one of the players you''re referring to be former England international Michael Ricketts? Blimey, such quality. They''re welcome to him and Steven Hamill. These aren''t players who wouuld bring anything to the club, so why sign them? Stop bashing Worthy for the sake of it - especially when there are plenty of valid points you could make!
4. Even worse - he''s ruptured his groin and is out of the World Cup. I for one really feel for him.
5.
Why have we had our day ? because the clown got a win at Cardiff , get real more people want him out than in and thats whats getting up your nose . As for calling people who want him out rabble , well maybe that says more about you than it does us . Do we need people like you at Carrow Road ? no sod off with Worthington.
It''s interesting that you dismiss the victory at Cardiff so easily. Would you have done the same if we''d lost? I doubt it.
6. In fairness, every time I''ve heard anyone from the club talk about Spillane, they say he can play at centre half, centre midfield and right back. So he''s being played in a position that he''s comfortable in. Or do people stop reading Worthington''s quotes two-thirds through?
7. Help! I''m stuck at work, with no way of listening. I don''t trust Soccer Saturday, as their reporter has just said that "England''s number 3, Rob Green" had made a great save from Deon Burton. However, he isn''t even playing! Please help, what''s going on?
8. Sounds poor so far - but Preston seem to be edging it. Oh, hang on, we''ve just conceded from the corner....
9. "6. A creative midfielder would be brought in" Who? Whilst I agree with most of your sentiments, it''s easy just to say you''ll bring someone in. You managed to name names to play wide right, showing that you''ve identified players who could improve our side. But "a creative midfielder" is a bit vague! Otherwise, I agree with everything!
10. It has to be a balance - the youngsters will learn more by playing with some of the regulars. We need to identify the spine of our team for next season (presumably Green, Shackell, Doc, Drury, Safri, Hucks, Earnie) and then try and fit youngsters in around that spine. Having said that, Drury looks like he''s out for a while so he can temporarily moved from the list I made! I don''t see much point in playing Charlton, or any of the loan players if we''re not serious about trying to sign them permanently. I do think there''s space to give the Jarvis brothers and Henderson some decent playing time between now and the end of the season.
11. I agree. For the first 20 minutes Burnley looked like a pub team. Quite what was going through McKenzie''s mind when he opted, with time and space, to try an ambitious lob with his wrong foot, is beyond me. But, ignoring that as one single moment of bad decision making, the passing tonight has been dreadful. Too many passes have been easily cut out. Also, once we''d switched to 4-4-2, someone should''ve reminded Huckerby of his defensive duties. We can cover him upfield with a five man midfield, but for the second goal he lost his man then didn''t do enough to cut out the through ball. We played a poor team tonight, and sank to their level.
12. Herbert, if I ever need talking down from a tall building, I hope you''re not the person they send!! Seriously though, this season has been poor, but why can''t you be pleased with the win? It was nice to do the double over the second-placed team in this division. Whilst you say it was lucky, I thought a number of our players had excellent games - the two starting strikers, and both centre halves were very good. Green was solid and Johansson was unlucky not to have his goal given - I thought he was level. For all Sheff Utd''s second half possession, I don''t think they did enough to get anything from the game and so it proved. I know this doesn''t make up for the rest of the season, but it was a crumb of comfort. Just enjoy the victory for what it was!
13. I agree - I''m a fence-sitter, reluctantly thinking that it''s time for a change. But it sounds like today Worthington successfully adjusted our tactics to very nearly grab an unexpected victory! Let''s hope today''s performance is carried forward to next weekend. This season has been hugely disappointing, but beating Warnock and co next weekend would help soften the blow!!
14. “It''s ironic that ever since the noticeable protests outside the ground of more than 10 people we have won three on the bounce, scored seven and conceded one, which was a free kick,” he said. “If they could turn up at away games that would be a great help.” Maybe, just maybe, Greeno was being a bit dry. Perhaps we shouldn''t take this quote too literally and accept that sometimes people try to make a joke....
15. "and also how about walkers final season, ok not brilliant, but we didn''t get absolutely humilated so regulary did we?" No, apart from the 5-1 and 6-1 defeats that followed each other at the mighty Port Vale and (I think) Huddersfield. Walker did a great job first time around and was showing signs of sorting things out second time before he was sacked, but don''t forget some of the humiliation we had to put up with back then as well.
16.
hughes gave away possesion 4 times in the first 15 minutes... her did play better after that howeever and as an added bonus he got injured - lets hope for some time..... 1 vaguely average performance after 23 crap ones does not make a player. Anyway as I predicted we would win these 2 easy home games. Good Work lads for gwetting the wins. The next game will give a better representation of how well we are doing....
Wishing a long term injury on a player? Classy. I''m no fan of Hughes, but I don''t want him or anybody else injured. Comments like this really show you as an idiot. Argue your Worthy Out campaign all you like, but hoping for a long term injury to a player is pathetic. Ironically, if you get your wish and Hughes is out for a while, then expect to see an upturn in performances from a more competant replacement which may well help save Worthington''s job!!
17. It''s interesting reading all the different opinions on why we''ve been so poor defensively this season - whether you think it''s the defence being poorly organised, or whether our strikers and midfield aren''t offering enough protection, I think it all shows just how poorly setup we have been as a team this season. Both opinions are valid and correct, and I believe that they''re are linked - get a proper shape to your team, and we become harder to break down. Work harder up the field when we don''t have the ball, and the opposition has less time to work out how to break us down. Personally, I think our problem has been keeping the ball - too often this season we''ve given the ball away cheaply and in dangerous areas. I know this is a very simple way of looking at it, but if we have the ball then the opposition can''t score. We have plenty of players who are comfortable on the ball, so why we can''t control possession is beyond me.
18. It hurts to lose, it hurts even more to say that Ipswich deserved it. Apart from one chance at the start of the second half and Johansson''s effort onto the post, we were outplayed. Ok, their winner was handball but they should have had a penalty and we rode our luck for a lot of the game. I feel very depressed - if we''d won we''d still have an outside chance of the playoffs, but now I just want this wretched season over and done with.
19.
According to Doncaster in today''s EDP supporters shouldn''t assume that work only starts now, he said "Work has been on-going for the last couple of months to identify suitable replacements and we have been talking to a number of clubs, anumber of agents, about players who are available and we hope to be able to make progress this week." The club had stated in the press this week that they only decided to sell Ashton after an improved offer was accepted late on Saturday, so why were they looking for replacements  2 months ago. The more they keep saying on this issue the more they are digging theirselves into the S..t. Come clean you were always going to sell him. Having said all this I still beleive it was a good bit of business on behalf of NCFC. The only thing is I dont trust Worthington to spend the money on the right players based on his past record.
If the scouts are doing their jobs properly, we should be constantly on the lookout for new players - hoping to unearth a future star/premiership reserve player! If Doncaster had said that only now does the work start, I''d be more worried as that shows a lack of organisation! Deals for underperforming reserve players don''t just happen overnight, you know....
20. None of the English managers are much good - Stuart Pearce is too inexperienced, and Big Sam would be the new Graham Taylor. Big Phil Scolari or Guus Hiddink for me please!
21. Hamilton would have been better? This is the same Hamilton that wasted money on numerous no-hopers - including the very expensive Steve Walsh and Tony Cottee? Don''t talk rubbish. Also, whilst Worthington might be making a mess of things now, he has led us to promotion and very nearly kept us there. To call him one of the very worst managers we''ve had here is harsh, I''d say.
22. That''s not what he said. Worthy said that every player has their price and that they were the four most desirable players in our squad. He didn''t say any of them were going, just saying that if they received acceptable bids, they''d consider them. Indeed, in the same article, he says that they turned down two big bids for Ashton, and that those bids would have to be significantly increased if they were to be considered. Really nothing too spectacular there. I appreciate NW isn''t doing too much right at the moment, but don''t misquote him just to make it sound worse!
23. I assume you''re talking about the same Brian Kerr that is currently making a mess of the Ireland team? Why do you want him? I can''t see any redeeming feature about trying to bring him in. If you''re thinking of replacements, realistically you''d have to delve into the lower leagues for a bright young manager - Steve Tilson at Southend, perhaps? Having said that, this is a pointless conversation - you know that, barring a relegation fight, Worthy will still be here at the end of the season.
24. It''s the two best second-placed teams that qualify automatically. We''re guaranteed to be one of those two, so yes we''ve qualified - albeit in confusing fashion...
25. But aren''t we already paying his wages? I thought these loan deals always involved the loaning club take over the player''s pay packet for however long he was at the club. If so, we''ve already met his wage demands - the concern comes from how much it would cost to keep him here. He was signed before Martin Jol became manager, so let''s hope he''s decided he doesn''t want him at Spurs and is prepared to just cut his losses...
