As an aside - this is why the decision to send Idah out was a stupid one. Instead of having a guy capable of deputising, we're now looking around at the options all scratching our heads.

Just now, Jim Smith said:I’d rather play Aboh than Van Hooijdonk to be honest. The latter has shown zero threat in the cameos I’ve seen. Aboh has pace and offers a threat in behind.
Wagner will play Barnes up front with Fassnacht behind though
Zero threat? I don't disagree that's he overall a disappointment but he has one assist during which he passed a ball for a guaranteed goal he could very well have taken the shot. To say he's had "zero threat" is wrong.

Don't worry about football. What a waste of emotion that is.

An outstanding result. Felt we absolutely contained and dominated them in every area of the pitch. We'll look back on the 4 pts we got from them as crucial.
Fantastic.

Me too. In fact there's a lot to like about Oxford on a whole.

Do **** off, binner.
I'd rather have our history that I have experienced and have direct memories from than have to live through the mediocrity and ignominy they've been through clinging on to a "glorious history" of such age now the vast majority couldn't even name the team that achieved it.

He's such a natural on the ball and as he matures his stocky build will make him a tough opponent.
You don't keep players who aren't happy here and have done nothing with the numerous opportunities given, do you?
He's been a massive flop for us - irrespective of how well he's now doing in a second division in Germany which many believe the general quality is poorer than what we face in this league.

Yeah fair point. I think goalkeeper is maybe the exception to that rule. A good goalkeeper makes a team.

How do you explain his role at the end of last season in which he featured prominently in the end of season form that saw us concede 12 in 5?
Our good form is not down to any individual.

In all fairness though with the team at his disposal and the quality of the championship this year is this really a big accomplishment?
Next year when he's in the Premier League (I believe Leeds will go up 2nd) will be very interesting.

You know as well as any fan that shut outs of that kind are never down to one player - it's an outmatched pairing coupled with excellent team performance.

Fingers crossed Scotland decide to leave Hanley on the bench for the upcoming internationals so he can have another couple of weeks of recuperation to get back up to speed for the run-in.
He's played Rotherham and Stoke though, two sides which have mustered a grand total of 1 shot on target.

If he did get a free season ticket for predicting the future, he'd have handed it back given how **** the last couple of seasons have been.

That's fair. I think perhaps at the time I didn't rate him. I now am much more appreciative of his abilities. Maybe more underrated in my personal opinion rather than the NCFC fanbase as a whole.

Appreciate the OP said current players - but I maintain the most underrated player of my time supporting NCFC is Phil Mulryne. Up there with Emi, Wes and Crook for technical ability and could bend a free kick better than most too.
Gary Holt is another who as I've got older I've grown to appreciate more.

Yes but that would necessitate banning 60% of users who aren't true fans and just want to moan.

I'm sure you thought this was really witty. In fact it's as vacuous as the empty space you unintentionally left under your post.

Some cling on before facing the inevitable drop. The self-pitying bellyaching by what I suspect are the usual post 2011'ers seem oblivious to the reality of the situation. You need exceptional outside investment or extremely high income, otherwise there is little chance of competing.
That does not mean we should not be battling away in the Championship. Do we expect to win the FA Cup when we enter, probably not. Much as with the League Cup. Perhaps we should see if we can duck out of those as well.
We are in with a chance of the playoffs because we did not embark on some suicidal spend to try and delay the drop for another season two. Look below and see those who did. Payment for players is usually staggered over 3 years, as are the contracts. You can end up with the likes of Naismith not wiling to give up on a lucrative PL contract.
The real point is the next 9 games (or more ?). If, U say if, we were to go up then it would on the back of a cracking tun, a bl00dy marvellous day out at Wembley. Whatever happens the following season can take care of itself. What ever happens it is worth around a quarter of a billion to the club. Great days out for away fans and us seeing some of the world's greatest players gracing Carrow Road.
F*ck what others think or say. Who gives a toss about what some g0b****e says on the TV. if it does concern you then make sure you boycott the plays offs and Wembley (were they to happen) because some rude man might say some horrid things about us.
As Mr Kipling (him of the cakes) once said
"If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and DisasterAnd treat the first as ruddy marvellous, and forget the latterThen you will be a City fan, my son"**** me what rambling nonsense
