Do you get it now? What I'm saying is not complicated.

In fairness you introduced that conspiracy out of the blue in a post that didn't fit what you were replying to - and its hardly the 'vaccines cause autism' conspiracy either. I'd never heard of this one.

That’s two teams who have gone public with their opposition to neutral venues. Five more and there is a likelihood of it not happening.  How many others near the bottom of the table are saying the same thing in private. No relegation to be the sweetener to make it happen?

I wonder if it's heading that way. Will be helped by the Championship not finishing at all.

The fact that we already voluntarily walk around with a GPS tracking device which can record our voice at any time is precisely why they don't need to microchip us.

What would it actually achieve. Somebody would work out that we have all been chipped, then we'd all refuse to get our (new) kids vaccinated, and dozens of deadly diseases like polio would make a comeback?

This particular conspiracy theory makes no sense.

You aren't all going to be microchipped, chill.

Ps. Why does Elon Musk get a free pass in all this conspiracy nonsense, Bill Gates gets crucified.... But surely his satellites are going up to monitor all the new microchips, his businesses are built on US government grants. Let's at least make the conspiracy theories interesting!

Not sure where you've gone with that post TVB

    I was responding to this.

Yes, what's happened in 7 years is more surveillance, I would never own an Alexa and my webcam is covered with sticky tape.

My point is that Snowden doesn't know anything new about what has happened in that 7 years that any other person couldn't find out.

If you listened to Snowden you'd realise there's much more than your Alexa or webcam to worry about. What they can do with phones (If true) is rather worrying.

Someone told me (I haven't checked this myself) that Villa wouldn't have got promoted last season (at a similar stage)if things then , had to be worked out PPG?

I just looked, if this had have happened one year earlier Villas last game would have been the derby with Birmingham where Grealish was hit by the fan, they won that 1-0 and that game (played on a Sunday) moved them up to 9th from 14th. It was win number 2 in what would be a 10 game winning run. So not only would they have been missed out, they wouldn't even have counted themselves that unlucky at that time. Currently, even Swansea down in 11th are only 3 points off the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong I feel if the ending of the season were simulated 100 or 1000 times then Norwich would go down in most of them - but crucially not all.

I know little of law but I'd imagine we would have a stronger case than Leeds or WBA. Surely easier not to promote a team that hadn't yet earnt promotion than relegate one that hadn't gone down. That said I think it will be 22 teams next season if this one doesn't finish.

@Hillhead - won't let me quote you for some reason.

I'm in a suburban and it isn't too bad- little garden, enough space in the kitchen to set up a mini-office, a few parks within walking distance.

I'd be having an awful time if I was in the flat I lived in when I first moved to London- one bed, no outdoor space, in a built-up area with no real close green space.

Routine is important- I had a short period of unemployment a few years ago and learnt pretty quickly that getting up, getting showered and getting dressed properly were important even if I wasn't going anywhere- I'm applying that to this also.

Every now and then when I'm finding this a bit tough I do have to remember to count my blessings. I've still got my job, my wife is on maternity leave so we don't have concerns about childcare, I'm getting to spend more time with my son than I would do normally and we're all healthy. Easy to lose that perspective at times though.

Yeah not sure what happened with that post, I wanted to edit it but It wouldn't let me.

I agree with all of that. If there's one other good thing of it to come for me it's that I've gotten into running which I think massively helps the mood - especially when the suns out. Usually cycle a few times a week but now running every day and improving massively (Which considering it started with a 2-minute run and 15-minute walk isn't saying all that much!

While I feel you may be right about outcome,  I'm not sure there's any anti Norwich bias.

Would be very hard to argue that if you've relegated us and not Bournemouth / Villa surely?

If we were already mathematically relegated, and say Leeds already promoted. I'd say you'd be right. But not as it stands.

I would agree with this. But if the league decides to end with relegation as it stands, we can hardly complain. We have been abysmal.

We can complain. Relegation without finishing the games would be ridiculous.

If you're saying that there's absolutely no choice and 3 teams must go down then yes, no matter what way you cut it Norwich will be one of those teams and there's no denying we should be.

But I'll be complaining if the league ends with relegation as it stands because of how unjust it is. Not because we are one of the teams. (Ok admittedly I'd care less if we weren't)

I can only imagine how tough it must be for people in small flats with no access to outdoor space.

It's funny you say that.  I currently live in a small flat in an urban area, large windows, good views, and a major park nearby has made it quite pleasant but you'd only have to take two of those factors away and it would immediately turn it on its head. The thought of where I lived previously, a suburban house in a sleepy neighborhood seems like it would be worse.

Having a routine has helped too - although I don't have a newborn to worry about! If anything its the weekends that are more of a drag now, no work to do, and not extra options to fill the time with.

Yes that's a fair point, that one of them isn't toeing the Sky 'party line'.

But we still don't know what Sky actually want to happen, people seem to be under the impression that Sky want it finished, but its the EPL who have been making all the noise on that.

I see what you mean now and hadn't considered that.

You may be on to something, imo aside from the initial 'return weekend' which may see a bump in viewers I imagine the viewing figures will soon drop to well beneath their usual as people realise just how dull BCD games are to watch.

Hmmmm.... I like Gary Neville but remember that he is paid his salary by Sky and they may have their own motives, he will have made sure this was the 'party line'.

But then he wouldn't be saying this would he?

I remember Neville being shut down by the host on Sky after Spurs fans racially abused one of the Chelsea players - I trust GN to say it like it is.

Both construction and manufacturing have gone back to work. I watched Spanish TV on the morning it began and the police were at public transport hubs giving out free face masks.

I agree that their use of open spaces is still restricted and they have been very harsh on the children who were told to stay indoors - that now being lifted from 27th April.

There are very few construction sites open in the UK, I did provide a link the other day but can't remember where it is now.

With their construction and manufacturing industries back up, I would say that their lockdown is now less restrictive than ours.

    Thanks.

I too saw that clip of the police handing out the masks I think it was aired in sky news. I'll accept what you say about the workers as I have no idea (and the various news outlets don't make it any clearer either)

Just a separate point. This must surely be the most incompetent display by our media since I don't know when.

Reading on the BBC website this morning about the various countries who are easing restrictions and it says Spain and Italy have decided against a relaxation of measures - which is blatantly untrue as Spain began construction and manufacturing work last week.

Seems an incredibly bad mistake to make.

Mark you said to me the other day that since construction workers have returned to work in Spain their lockdown is now much less severe than ours. Whether technically true or not I find it hard to agree that's what I'm seeing when I look at the street / parks of anywhere in the UK Vs the empty spaces in Spain.

If Spain have let construction workers back (some of ours are still working too right?) All things considered I still wouldn't consider their lockdown more sever than ours.

The penny is beginning to drop with some of you. Phillips and T Smith acquired those 100 shares a piece at the nominal price of £1 per share. I paid £25 per share for my 1,000 shares. The 4 directors including 2 now ex directors have received £21,000 in interest from this scheme. That does not include the  2 Webber who also subscribed or presumably Phillips partner who likewise participated. In my opinion the very least they can do when claiming to have made donations to the NHS is to have made contributions from their own pocket beyond whatever they received.

That was the most nervous I've ever felt before a game. The thought of losing in the play offs to them of all teams was unbearable.

I remember after the Fulham game the announcer telling us it was Ipswich who we would be facing, the crowd cheered while  I felt a bit sick. We were clearly the better team but I dreaded seeing them better us for the first time in years and getting a shot at the play off final. I also desperately wanted to tick off seeing us at Wembley.

I should have had more faith

In crude terms what the statement says is we have made a decision that the right decision is to continue having to make no decision.

or even cruder, if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

However this ends thats always going to be the case isn't it? They will always be committed to playing until it's no longer possible.

Wasn't meant as an attack- more of an observation.

I understand the use of ad-blockers- so many of the adverts you get on websites these days are super intrusive, people are basically forced into using them. Paywall avoiders less so.

I do think there are quite a few people who want to have their cake and eat it with regards to sports content- complain about clickbait newspapers or spurious transfer gossip but refuse to pay or even view adverts. Not saying you're one, just that quite a few exist.

    fair enough

It was actually this site that first prompted me to get an Adblock* not sure what it's like now but a couple of years ago the adverts on this forum were as obtrusive as they come (although admittedly not as bad as the pop ups of the 90's!)

*I'd probably use one now anyway now that I've learn more about how they track you around the internet and the way Google etc al use tactics to get you hooked on their services etc - another topic)

  19. Bill what do you know / think of Swedens approach? Coming in for criticism now but if their hospitals are not being overwhelmed and the vaccine really is 12+ months off. I expect their figures (deaths per million for example) to eventually be caught up with by their neighbours.
