    Ah well, being caught like that comes with age I guess. On the other hand, the article still makes some good points and I'm a confirmed advocate of the theory (until next week) 

    I believe in everything and nothing, or somewhere in between. Depends on weather, day of the week - anything except firm unequivocal evidence.

    And they've got Leeds winning all their final 3 games. The way they're playing at the moment, they may not win any of them. 

    Predicting the result of most football matches is difficult. Predicting the result for matches at the end of a Championship season is virtually impossible.

    According to someone on here, that'll be another story Wagner has made up.

    The same someone will have it on good authority that his wife's not pregnant, and in fact he hasn't even got a wife.

    Idah didn't seem to need it!

    PVH has come from Italian football, so mitigating circumstances there. He's gone from dancing the waltz to the foxtrot, football wise. So not so much a case of fitness per se, as fitness needed for English football, as opposed to Italian football: and the SPL is as blood and thunder as the Championship is, hence Idah adjusting quickly.

    Suspect we may see Idah leave (does anyone think he'll want to come back here?) and, ultimately, we don't take up any option to sign PVH.

    Maybe we'll look to the US for another striker.

    If it was possible to turn the clock back and sign PVH on loan in his heyday, then that would have been a good signing - albeit with a bit of 'ego' thrown in. Come to think of it, and this may be unfair, but PVH may still be better than SVH. But we can still support him when he's one of us.

    Before Saunders arrived our highest position had been halfway up Tier 2. For most of the preceding 65 years we had been a Tier 3 or 4 club. A reasonable comparison would be Swindon Town (ignoring a couple of years of brief success). 

    It says everything about his time here that we now discuss whether or not we're a top tier club. Before his arrival we weren't and if it wasn't for him we could well be where Swindon are now. 

    So @Besthorpe-48, could you give us a breakdown pre and post Saunders? If it's not too much trouble! 

    There have quite rightly been discussions about a statue of Justin at Carrow Road but if I had to pick one person who should be commemorated it would be Saunders. 

    If you try to think of managers who have completely changed the expectations of a club and its supporters you won't find many. The only ones that spring to mind are Bill Shankly and a couple down the road. 

    I'm a little bit younger than your 63'ish, but I remember Ron Saunders well. 

    An incredible manager.
    I doubt he was that easy to get on with, but he got more from that group of players than probably anyone else could have done.
    As you said, from 1972 onwards expectations changed and even when we did go down in 1974 and 1981, came straight back again.

    The other manager that springs to mind about changing a club's expectations is Brian Clough - both at Derby and Forest.
    Both were pretty much going nowhere and had never been big hitters in the English game, but he turned them both into First Division champions.

    It does scan (just about).

    In reality, the vast majority will sit in virtual silence anyway (as they're entitled to of course 🙄).

    Apologies if this has been raised already, but I cannot be bothered to read 14 pages.

    It's a bit ironic that the Stade de France is used every year to host 2/3 of the Six Nations Rugby Union matches without (so far as I am aware) any trouble.

    The stadium is generally full for these matches and, for those against the nations from the British Isles at least, there is a sizeable contingent of 'away' fans, if you want to call them that. I imagine that a large number of the French supporters at those games are from the provinces too.

    The stadium doesn't relocate for this, so is still in the same 'dangerous' neighbourhood of Saint-Denis.
    Although presumably there is never the same issue with forged tickets.

    Maybe there is trouble and it just goes unreported, as rugby doesn't attract the same news interest or whatever.
    It just seems that sometimes, trouble follows football around like a bad smell.
