1. Ah well, being caught like that comes with age I guess. On the other hand, the article still makes some good points and I'm a confirmed advocate of the theory (until next week) I believe in everything and nothing, or somewhere in between. Depends on weather, day of the week - anything except firm unequivocal evidence.
2. That was an interesting read. I'd heard of the theory before, but never really gave it much attention. Not sure I agree with the assertion the article makes that the theory is now confirmed, but it's food for thought.
3. I once had the opportunity to ask Howard Kendall (RIP) a question at the Q&A part of a dinner he was the guest speaker at. So I asked him a question about that game. He wasn't impressed.
4. Think their algorithm might've gone a bit wrong for the Premier League predicted table. Maybe not the positions, but for the number of points.
5. And they've got Leeds winning all their final 3 games. The way they're playing at the moment, they may not win any of them. Predicting the result of most football matches is difficult. Predicting the result for matches at the end of a Championship season is virtually impossible.
6. According to that table, Hull are only getting 2 more points from their final 4 games. Think they'd be disappointed with that.
7. According to someone on here, that'll be another story Wagner has made up. The same someone will have it on good authority that his wife's not pregnant, and in fact he hasn't even got a wife.
8. If it was possible to turn the clock back and sign PVH on loan in his heyday, then that would have been a good signing - albeit with a bit of 'ego' thrown in. Come to think of it, and this may be unfair, but PVH may still be better than SVH. But we can still support him when he's one of us.
9. I took me a long time to realise "Farke on a Horse" had anything to do with "Waterfall"
10. Battlestar Galactica (the remake) was quite good, even if the ending was a bit weird (IMO)
11. So he'll be back for Ipswich at home. How many games banned is it for a third red in a season?
12. I'm a little bit younger than your 63'ish, but I remember Ron Saunders well. An incredible manager. I doubt he was that easy to get on with, but he got more from that group of players than probably anyone else could have done. As you said, from 1972 onwards expectations changed and even when we did go down in 1974 and 1981, came straight back again. The other manager that springs to mind about changing a club's expectations is Brian Clough - both at Derby and Forest. Both were pretty much going nowhere and had never been big hitters in the English game, but he turned them both into First Division champions.
13. Or maybe hedge our bets a bit with, "hope you know what you're doing". It does scan (just about). In reality, the vast majority will sit in virtual silence anyway (as they're entitled to of course 🙄).
14. Not if SVH makes his first start and becomes an instant cult hero with a hat-trick
15. What the singer, formerly with Bronski Beat and The Communards?
16. Apologies if this has been raised already, but I cannot be bothered to read 14 pages. It's a bit ironic that the Stade de France is used every year to host 2/3 of the Six Nations Rugby Union matches without (so far as I am aware) any trouble. The stadium is generally full for these matches and, for those against the nations from the British Isles at least, there is a sizeable contingent of 'away' fans, if you want to call them that. I imagine that a large number of the French supporters at those games are from the provinces too. The stadium doesn't relocate for this, so is still in the same 'dangerous' neighbourhood of Saint-Denis. Although presumably there is never the same issue with forged tickets. Maybe there is trouble and it just goes unreported, as rugby doesn't attract the same news interest or whatever. It just seems that sometimes, trouble follows football around like a bad smell.
17. As ever, there's a Half Man, Half Biscuit lyric https://halfmanhalfbiscuit.uk/some-call-it-godcore/sensitive-outsider/
18. The players will be sporting Peaky Blinders style headgear for all post-match interviews. It's preferable to the pearly king gear that Sir Frank of Lampard would have insisted on.
19.
Best commentator is Motty, John Motson is just great. I hate Garth Crooks...like many of us it seems.
Motson great? You are joking? He may have been at one time but not any more. Townsend is terrible, as is Crooks and Dion Dublin. Martin Tyler''s the best commentator. None of them as good as David Coleman was. Only in my opinion of course.
20.
Why the hell not, Chops - funnily enough it is not all down to tv, the bbc are covering every single match on the radio and online, as well as having their tv coverage: this is something itv doesn''t have to worry about. Sounds like you have swallowed some classic daily fail-style lies.
Guardian reader alert
