  1. Cleared Newcastle's debt and then sustained Premier League football, massively under rated owner. I wasn't a fan of the Wonga sponsorship though, that would worry me. Personally I don't think he would be interested in Norwich as the residents are civilised, not enough people wearing Sports Direct clobber, rebranding St. James Park was a huge branding opportunity in the North East which must be one of the biggest markets for low quality sportswear.
  2. Not sure what your ethnicity has to do with anything, still Irish aren't you?
  3. If only we had more of your exhilarating topics to discuss, a monthly thread about tickets. We could really do with another commonsense ticket thread, don't be disheartened by the 0 replies on the last one mate. Makes me laugh when people who never start threads start moaning about the nature of other peoples threads, its almost as if they don't understand how a forum works.
  4. Well when you ran a bit short of spuds in the 1840's a load of you came over here and started eating all our hedgehogs.
  5. Fine, well that's why we can't see the club passed to Nephew Tom then isn't it. The problem is that Michael Wynn-Jones doesn't like Russians, Arabs or the Chinese, so that only really leaves Americans and I don't really like Americans, their silly accents or their leveraged buyouts.
  6. I doubt Leeds have got a single player on £90k a week and they did pretty well last season.
  7. Well I used to say that he is to Norwich what Fernando Torres is to Atletico Madrid, such was the high esteem that I held him in. But I fail to see how this thread title and the question posed is vindictive. The fact remains that he is out of contract at the end of the season and we have a one year option. He can't keep himself fit enough to make an impact for our first team, so I think not exercising the right to extend becomes a very real option if we see a full year of that. I mean, has nobody else wondered why the club haven't exercised that right to extend already? The simple fact that they haven't done so is what leads to the pondering. It is clear at this stage that Cantwell wants out, and we want him out, so if that fails to materialise in this window then what happens next is a valid concern for all parties. Personally I just want to see players give their all for the shirt and I've not seen that from Cantwell this season, getting a few million of him appears to be the only real prospect we have of being able to allow Smith to bring in a player to improve the XI - unless we get a silly money offer for Max Aarons. We could really do with a defensive midfielder, and with Cantwell being unproductive... I'm keen to see him converted into cash to potentially enable that. I think at this point most people are.
  8. Difficult to disagree really on the evidence so far. Onel has limited footballing intelligence but at least his head never drops and he attacks to the final whistle, and we could do with a bit of that off the bench considering our current struggles. I suppose if keeping Hugill and Hernandez off the wage bill helps Dean Smith bring one or two in during this window then it will be understandable, we will see.
  9. Bubble and Squeak? I know you lot really like potatoes.
  10. He heavily regrets forcing his way out of West Brom, when he was 24 incidently, and was practically begging to return there in the summer before signing for a League 1 side at 28. He's flopping hard in League One. Good example Bluefloyd.
  11. If I showed you threads where I was advocating bringing Jed Steer back as our number 2, and another where I was sticking up for Chris Sutton when he upset some fans on here with Talksport comments, and another where I suggested we try and bring Jacob Murphy back to the club just before he signed his new Newcastle contract... would that answer your question? All of those are local lads.
  12. I thought you only got bosman compensation if they are under 24, and Cantwell will be 24 in February.
  13. I thought Farke had made the problem perfectly clear when he demoted him to the Under 23's. "The rules are clear for each player. You have to be physically and mentally prepared and show consistency in training and be available. The standards and the levels are the same for every player. Younger players have to learn and experience these things. But Todd is not 18 anymore. It is not difficult.
  14. Nobody else seems to want him though, and can't help that some Norwich fans massively exaggerating his ability because he's got a nice touch and can pull a trick out of the bag now and again has helped to create this monster. He's probably the 5th best left winger I've seen at Norwich since I started watching in 1989, and we've been sh*t for half of that time, nothing to write home about, he's not the new Grealish... he's a very naughty boy!
  15. If he had the willingness to do that Hogesar I wouldn't be so willing for us to get rid.
  16. Is there a problem with the question? Seems like a perfectly valid question and an accurate representation of where we are at. You have a problem with the person asking the question, but can't find fault in the question itself. We have received no bids.
  17. I suppose somebody would at least take him on loan if we extend.
  18. Should we pay up the last 6 months contract to get rid asap, keep until summer and then release, or keep until summer and extend his deal by a year in the hope that somebody takes a punt on him but with the risk of another year of drama and his stupid cryptic tweets?
  19. Can't remember the last time Webber signed a 'young' player that was any good, so excuse me if I struggle to get excited by that, Bushiri, Soto, Power, Abraham, none of them are amounting to much. Mumba got some potential I suppose. But yeah, probably is a decent gimmick for when Webber had gone and we have a competent recruitment team identifying and bringing in players like Aarons, Godfrey, Lewis and Maddison again from other clubs rather than blowing money on substandard Americans.
  20. Didn't realise we had a vacancy for water bottle carrier, agree that as a big strapping lad he'd be quite good at that.
  21. Considering our 2019 promotion bonus for £10m for football staff alone, assuming similar last season, and assuming our 300ish staff are on an average of something like £35k a year, we're only needing to find about £9m so we're not a thousand miles away from Sportrac data being reasonably decent estimates, now if our 'pay offs' to various bits of deadwood are included in the headline figure then that would take us considerably closer too wouldn't it.
  22. Fantastic news really. I'm entirely confident that if Hugill was in League One with Ipswich they'd be declaring him a useless donkey. Which to be fair, makes me want us to loan him to Ipswich next season with no option of return.
  23. It is not in the clubs interests to come out and say that they all think Cantwell is a massive turd who has been unprofessional for 6 months, because that's not too conducive to finding a club willing to pay money for him is it.
