  1. Lets cut to the chase (no pun intended)  - Ashton has gone and the investment return is a good one. As many posters seem more concerned about the "wise investment" side of Worthy''s acquisitions, whilst Ashton has made good money, how many more of his signings are worth more now than they were when we purchased them?  I am personally more concerned about trusting Worthy with the money and how we are currently playing with those that he has brought in rather than "investment", although many posters don''t seem too bothered about this.  OK, I accept we are "little old Norwich" and will never be able to "play with the big boys" but, one thing we could always previously be recognised for (and one of the reasons we tend to attract good gates) was that we played good, attractive football i.e. good to watch.  Does anyone on this message board REALLY believe this is still the case or, indeed, believe it has been for months? Lets look at Worthy''s recent signings. With the exception of Ashton, who else has he signed who we can really say is good enough?  Accepted Safri is a great player when he is there, but he has a history of being injured, will always get suspensions, has fitness problems (and that is even without loss through the African Nations) - ask any Coventry fan and look at his time with us so far.   Hughes, Etuhu, Colin, Charlton, Jarrett, Thorne ..................  not only poor players but not even great investments!  They must be laughing all the way to the bank each week when they pick up their pay packets. With this track record, who can really trust Worthy with the Ashton sale money?  Would you trust him with yours?  Yes, money is vitally important to the club.  However, this doesn''t paper over the fact that under his leadership and with HIS players, the standard and quality of our football is at its lowest since the reign of Hamilton.  Does anyone agree, or are we all happy? Is there anything we can do? As many have said, a (big) defeat at Reading followed by a lousy performance (and/or loss) against the scum should be the final straw and see the extremely over-tolerant people of Norfolk finally rise and make their feelings known.  It is not only the results BUT more particularly the quality of football that is unacceptable.  Worthy''s time (and luck) is up - it is, at last, inevitable.
  2.     Yes, I do remember Sutton.  Do you?   Now lets go back in history.  Sutton followed by others, when we were a top 4 Premiership team and in Europe swiftly followed by relegation, financial ruin and probably the worst period ever in  the club.  You get over it and perhaps have a re-appraisal of what has happened to us in the past when we have sold our best players. Can you ever recall any other manager getting the time and money that this idiot has had to take a team forward in the last 2 years?  Can you recall watching such dross since the Hamilton days?  Yes, lets all "get over it" as that is exactly what the Board will be relying on.
  3. Who can blame Deano, he ain''t going anywhere with us and must have seen things have got steadily worse.   The key for good players like him is that he has at least got an option.  The poor sods left at Carrow Road (i.e. the fans) haven''t.I share your contempt and feel very let down.  But what can we do about it?  Do they really care?  The only time reality will hit is when the money doesn''t come through from the 25,000 mugs who continue to finance this debacle.  We are in free fall and you had better believe it UNLESS we have the change at the helm that has been SO OBVIOUS for SO LONG to most fans who have been watching NCFC for many a year.Let down just doesn''t do it justice.  Can''t wait for the "official" club spouting coming out in the next few days and weeks, pleading for us all to "stick together" so we can shaft you for another season.
  4. Completely agree.   All this rubbish about "the fans are the most important ...........", "prudence with AMBITION"  - absolute dire rubbish.Doncaster  - hop it.  Munby - do the same.  Unless Worthy goes and goes soon, you can stick your Season Tickets where the sun doesn''t shine!
  5. Ashton gone - one of our best players and young with it.  Surprise, Surprise - maybe Greeno already knew hence his reaction at end yesterday, or is he off to?  I notice we were keen to put the usual spin on it about the players aspirations - shame we haven''t got any as a club.  The main cause of our being where we are today still sits there comfortably thinking, hey I have had loads of chances to get it right and I am going to get yet more, what a cracking job this is!Worthy to have a few million to spend - what a scenario with his track record.  Can''t wait to see who he signs - could look to bring Carlton Palmer out of retirement and pay £500K for him.  Many seasomed pro''s and has beens must be rubbing their hands with glee with the prospect of picking up a big salary and being put out to pasture at NCFC sanctuary for useless idiots.  If you are "big" or can run around a lot, you are in.  Passing not required though, so those who can pass and create need not worry. The Board have got this seriously wrong.  Always a selling club, no ambition - prudence my "a**e". We must be in real financial trouble and they are already worrying about prospect of income next year and are too damn stubborn to admit they were wrong and should have got rid of Worthless months ago.  Whilst he and his coaching croanies are there, we will go nowhere but backwards - hell, we are stuck with a number of useless idiots already, let alone adding to them.Defeat at home to the binners beckons.  Do you think the 25,000 who venture week in, week out will continue to stand for that.  Are we really all going to carry on putting up with it and stroll out of  Carrow Road having lost/played rubbish, shaking our heads saying "oh well,  there we go, never mind".   I suspect there may be something more of an outbreak of outrage than we have seen since the days of Chase.A pivotal moment possibly - the Board is moving in extremely choppy and difficult waters.  Wrong decisions now could spell many years of mediocrity and financial difficulty for the club.  My season ticket renewal will definitely be on hold.
  6. The only way thing will change with Worthless is if the board see''s impending doom on the Financial side of things i.e. poor return in season ticket renewals.  Yes, I know this would not be good for the club and it would probably mean sale of more players (because we wouldn''t be able to afford wages), but to be honest sale of some of the dross we currently have wouldn''t be a bad thing (if anyone would by them!) It all boils down to the manager and/or the players - the buck stops with the manager as he has assembled this motley crew.  A defeat (large one) at Reading, followed by the ignomy of a home defeat to the binners should just about do it.  If the board then see''s many then "holding" on renewal of season tickets to see what the likely management structure is before signing on the dotted line (as I will do), then they would be daft not to act - I can''t see Worthless doing the right thing. A loyal supporter is not necessarily someone who renews their season ticket regardless of both the quality of what they see, their own financial situation and that of their club.  Some would argue that it is stupidity.  I have supported Norwich all my life but not always been able to afford my season ticket.  We all have decisions in life to make - do you go to the theatre to see a top spoof only to see Cocoa the Clown and then walk away saying "I''ll go back again next week"? The time has come for the Board to act like a proper responsible Board, taking account the fans feelings AND the financial prudence of the club - we have been going backwards for very many months now and have a weaker squad now than when we got promoted.  For Christ''s sake, we can''t even claim to be entertaining any more. I have had enough of the rubbish that has been served up this season and the same old PR exercise and noises coming out of the club.  25,000 fans week in and week out don''t deserve it.  Board ACT NOW or delay until we get embarrassed still more in the coming weeks - why delay the inevitable?
  7. Green (5) - distribution poor, particularly throw out to Brennan putting us under immediate pressure and resulting in goal.  Accomplished at picking ball out of net though! Colin (3) - woeful defensively and distribution wise, but to be fair did have Etuhu in front of him (poor sod!) Fleming (7) - solid but up against it with no midfield Doherty (8) - shame all don''t have his commitment and willingness.  Most improved player. Drury (7) - steady and has been back to his best, although distribution still suspect Robinson (4) - another Worthy "journeyman".  Was he ever fit? Etuhu (1) - turned up as one of Preston''s most effective players, nullifying our attacking pretentions and a waste of space. Has he ever played football before? Charlton (5) - a "has been" full back playing in midfield, trying his best but ......... say no more McVeigh (6) - good early doors but no-one on his wavelength.  Faded as he saw little ball in second half Ashton (7) - tried, but what more can you do with a bunch of clowns around you?  Will be more effective (soon) around better players Huckerby (5) - started his "suspension" a week early - obviously fancies some time off.  A liability without a strong midfield to work for him, but a match winner when he does have a strong midfield working for him. An enigma ............. Brennan (3) - awful again, but how many more times do we have to keep saying so?  Another "journeyman" Henderson (3) - just Henderson! Thorne (3) - did he touch the ball?  Looks like he may have something about him, but not certain what Jarvis - must wonder what the hell he has to do to get a game.
  8. Dire!   Dire!   Dire!Quite possibly the worst performance I have ever witnessed and is Etuhu the worst player ever to pull on the green and yellow shirt?   Lets stop papering over the cracks.  Whose squad is this?  Whose last three midfield signings have been Etuhu (yes we have or are going to sign),  Hughes and Jarrett?   Oh, and lets add Jurgen Colin to the list of fantastic signings - better than Edworthy (don''t make me laugh)?   Thats a total of around £1.5 million isn''t it?If Ashton goes (and who could blame him after today and the season to date), would YOU trust Worthy with a few million?  Yes, he signed Ashton but then again my missus could have judged that one and she doesn''t even watch football. Fact - Preston, Wolves, Palace, Leeds and a few others have far better SQUADS than ours in what is a poor league.   All very well blaming tiredness and the gruelling schedule, but who assembled the squad?   If we are fortunate enough to make the play offs it will be not be down to good judgement.    Our squad is weaker now than it was 2 years ago and once Ashton goes it will  be weaker still.  I  wouldn''t want to even think about how Worthy may go about strengthening it, if he gets any money.  I am certain he can find plenty more "cast offs" from somewhere.  It could be a longer term catastrophe if HE is given the money to spend.More humiliation in the FA Cup next week - bet the Hammers are quaking in their boots!
  9. It is simple really and the writing has been on the wall.  Worthington has taken things as far as his abilities possibly can - it was time to take the next step forward some time ago.  Everyone has their limitations and the clever ones are those who realise them - the board are as much to blame for not recognising this. Good work ethic, we passed the ball really well at times, we worked hard etc etc no longer washes I am afraid.  Even IF someone else came in now, it would be damage limitation.  Yes folks, face it we really are that poor and will be lucky to finish in the top half of the league.  Arguably the best supported team in The Championship but the laughing stock of the league!  Mighty Luton, the cream of East Anglia.   I feel sorry for the 20,000 odd who have forked out substantial money for season tickets (including me) on the premise that we would at least be competitive this season and would have learned from the mistakes of last season.  I am afraid that both the manager and board are naive and the players rule the roost, doubtless dead chuffed about doubling their wages last season.  There simply isn''t the same commitment or will to "play for the shirt" - it has all gone rather too stale across the entire playing and management staff.   Knock me down if you wish but sometimes the truth hurts.  Luton 4 Norwich 0 - sums the situation up quite nicely, doesn''t it?
  10. Why all the surprise?  It appears that F-F-Fleming was caught out for pace for the first goal, by Marlon King, so isn''t it logical to replace Shackell with the faster, more mobile Davenport?  Yes, this is the sort of madness we now have to put up with - it is clear that F-F-Fleming is Worthy''s adopted son.  I swear that if Fleming stuck in a hat-trick of own goals it wouldn''t make any difference at all - he would probably replace Green!  Mid-table mediocrity beckons at best (and that is being hopeful)
  11. I have been thinking, this morning, about what I was going to post about yesterday''s game and your thoughts echo exactly what I was going to say.  I was at the beamback yesterday, where you have the benefit of replays and everything you say is spot on.  For the first goal, people at the time were blaming Drury.  However, you see both Drury and Helveg narrowing the defence to the edge of the "D" to cover for Fleming who went AWOL - it is only when the ball hits the back of the net, that you see Fleming labouring into the picture.  Second goal - what is our right fullback doing having to pick up Crouch on the edge of our 6 yard box, with not a central defender in sight?  Simply covering yet again for you know who. 6 away goals in two games and we have failed to win either (ludicrous) - if we had won these, as we surely should have, we wouldn''t have any worries about staying up by now!  Worthy keeps talking about our failure to defend, but there is a permanent fixture sitting in there (who has played every game this season).  Simply coincidence - I don''t think so.  Fleming - great in the lower leagues, but simply not good enough at the top level and a poorer player than last year. On the plus side?  If we keep our attack together, the number of goals we could score in "The Championship" could be embarrassing, such is the gulf between the respective leagues!  Strikers are nowhere near as good as in the Premiership though, so we shouldn''t concede anywhere near as many (although if we don''t deal with the problem, I am certain we will try our best to concede!)
  12. Understand the criticism but to be fair no-one was any great shakes at Palace. If you analyse the game and our BETTER moments though (in terms of opportunities), Svennson was involved regardless. He won the freekick which led to our only shot by Mulryne in first half, had a snap shot well saved by their keeper in second half and provided the header on to McKenzie for our other attempt on goal. I can''t remember anyone else creating too much! Get off the guys back and give him a chance - he has only just had the opportunity to complete a couple of games at 90 minutes. Remember how big Iwan was in his first season with us?
