Whatever our model, we could not compete with clubs that can triple his wages as things stand. That’s without mentioning the player’s ambition to play higher up (although I’m sure Villa isn’t his first choice). All clubs are selling clubs when the player wants to leave. Kane wants out at Tottenham. Ronaldo left United. It’s football.

I have no issue with the four RBs. Most can be used elsewhere so they’re probably not considered a RB to Gareth and his staff. Plus, if he’d have left any of them out, it would’ve been a bigger story for people to bemoan. Especially Trent - as was rumoured. My only issue is that I’m sure I heard him say yesterday that he was going to play Lingard tonight. Despite him not making the final squad. Seems bananas to me. Did I hear that right?

Think it’ll be largely unchanged. My guess would be Leitner as the only one brought in.
